# ONE SEARING IMAGE CAPABLE OF CHANGING THE COURSE OF HISTORY

Posted on July 15, 2024 23 Comments

A 20 year-old registered Republic wearing a T shirt from a pro-gun Youtube channel sets out from home carrying an automatic rifle and tries, and very nearly succeeds, to assassinate Donald Trump. A press photographer carrying a camera sets out at the same time to cover Trump’s rally without knowing that he or she is about to capture an image that is already iconic and seared into the minds of billions of people around the world.

An extraordinary sidebar to the Trump assassination attempt from the Telegraph UK. How a single photo can change the course of history.

Violence should never be the way to settle differences and has no place in a democracy.

Wonder what would have happened on the streets if the bullet had killed Trump, would his MAGA base and the extreme right have gone on a revenge and riots broken out?

President Biden did the right thing to come out and condemn this and return to the White House immediately to assess the situation.

Let’s hope there won’t be any further escalation. I am sure this incident will definitely provide a bump in the polls for President Trump.

The FBI and Secret Service will be putting tighter a detailed profile of the shooter and the suspected motive behind his attempt to assassinate President Trump.

God Bless the United States of America.

Hahaha. Mayne he needs to do some push ups like Mr Rabooka to improve his memory.

What a choice the Americans are faced with – Trump or Biden.

That Trump photo is indeed iconic. Initially I thought this was staged, but with everything that has happened, who knows?

No one deserves to die at the hands of violence. Violence is evil and should not be tolerated.
Trump should know best how much violence, hate and intimidation he has inflicted on many in USA and the world. I remember him mocking journalists, women, rainbow people, people with disabilities.
    Evil only breeds evil.
He better reset his ethics and what comes out of his mouth.

Leaders should not cause racial divisions. Remember the clean the slumps slogan he preached on. Making America Great should not come by doing wrong. Trump’s recent court case reveals how unfaithful he was as the last President of USA.

What is truly iconic about the photograph is that whilst Trumps agents are huddled to cover him, Trump as he is well known for, defies protocol and stands fist pumped into the air disregarding his own safety.

A powerful and iconic image indeed

Nancy Pelosi’s husband was brutally bashed by a far right dickhead and Trump sympathiser (who believed Trump’s election was stolen) with a hammer and seriously injured which required him to be hositalised and required surgery. Nancy Pelosi was the Speaker of the House during the Trump presidency and they obviously did not get along very well. A few days after the attack, during a speech Trump mockingly asked his audience “how is Nancy Pelosi husband doing”?
The image is not iconic, it has been contrived by an opportunist, he has always been a showman and most importantly, he will always remain a dickhead. Nothing has changed as for as I am concerned.

Is there a way to disqualify a person from standing for President, if he is a dickhead?
That should be implemented in Fiji as well.
Anyway, I think this dickhead will now get a lot of sympathy votes. The best blessing in disguise, if there ever is one.
But I find it amazing that a significant section of the population of the USA are idiots. I hope I am wrong.

There was no blood on his hand at any point. Even when he reached up to wave. Also no blood on his collar. When he was bent down behind podium fake blood was planted. Any normal person would have reached up to touch their ear again to see if they were bleeding. It was all staged, the secret service had the shooter in their sights but he was allowed to shoot before they took him out. A pity one innocent person had to die and two others critically wounded.

Oso. There is no suggestion that it was staged. In a split second, Trump was able to gather his thoughts and turn it into a publicity opportunity. But he was shot in the ear and a few centimetres to the right, he would have been toast.

Yes, not least because it almost guarantees that Trump will win. His policy of retreating from the world and “America First” will almost certainly make the world a more dangerous place.

Disagree with you on this issue Graham. Trump more likely to end Ukraine Russia war and hopefully work with China. Not against it.

We do not need another WW3 and unfortunately Biden with CIA hellbent on creating fires.

Trump will end the Ukraine war by allowing Putin to invade and occupy. You are completely wrong to think otherwise. And “work” with China for what? To crush the democracy of Taiwan and incorporate it into a gangster dictatorship. No thanks.

The United States of America was founded on revolutionary ideals of democratic republic system of government which is enshrined in its constitution where one branch of government is held in check by the other.

Ultimately these system of government should reflect the views of the majority but safeguards the rights and freedoms of the minorities.

The American revolution was basically a largely a revolt of mostly British people in the 13 British colonies on the North American continent against arbitrary laws on taxation imposed on them by the British Parliament in London. This is also due to they not consulted on such implementation.

After the decisive military victory by the British Rebels in the 13 colonies they thought the Government in London would now be amendable to their demands but they were wrong.

These 13 colonies decided there is no choice² but to formally break from the British Empire and declare their independence with I think is one of the best Constitution in the world.

The US constitution has Biblical and Magna Carta principles embedded in its various amendments.

Take for example in the first amendment is Free Speech which any democracy should assign it as of highest priority.

If that is not honoured or upheld by the American government or individual in power then the populace have the right to act or voice their opposition to any threats to the American Democratic Republican Principles of system of government.

This is where the second amendment comes in where every American has the right to bear arms against DOMESTIC AND EXTERNAL threats.

It is also based on the principle seen in the story of King Saul who lost Godly legitimacy when he did not carry out Gods will. Also by his disobedient and greedyful corrupt action he did not safeguard people he was to told to care for. His action led to a continued survival of a thorn to the side of ancient Israel till its destruction and exile by the Romans. This breach of leadership principle to ensure the safe and care of Ancient Israelites, led to the active guerilla tactics and activities of the tribe of Judah led by King David against Sauls government, which ultimately led to the total loss of support of his government by the 12 tribes.

This is enshrined in the beautiful order of the different amendments of the US Constitution especially those who were set by the American Founding Fathers.

In the last 9 years there were constant attacks on Trump by his opponents as they label him as a threat to democracy.

It was promoted in the mainstream media with daily shows and news in the likes of CNN, MSNBC and among others labelling Trump as a existential threat to democracy in the USA. Trump has also not backed down on returning the same to his political opponents.

Based on what was discussed on the cultural, legal and societal founding of the United States, the American people are very sensitive to any perceived attack on their democratic republicanism principles and their rights.

Some have acted on that belief and it has showed in American history with significant repercussions from Abraham Lincoln to JFK and so on.

The constant labelling of Trump as a threat to American democracy has influenced a young man who may have perceived it as his patriotic duty to attempt an assassination of the Former President of his country even if it is a twisted sense of patriotism.

Luckily for the American people and the USA as a whole the three bullets missed Trump heads by millimetres with only a clip to the top of his ear.

If it had reached its intended target which is his head there will be Civil War between the political opponents in the American Political sphere.

It is likely to be very bloody as there are nearly 500 million firearms in Civilian hands in the United States. To diagress a bit that is why no body will want to invade the United States of America with not only the all powerful US military but they have to contend with but also a heavily armed US Civilian populace from its large Cities to a small farm stead in the Mid West.

On average as every 4th American household has a small arsenal in their homes ranging from a small handgun to hunting rifles or shotguns.

Whatever happened whether it was luck or divine protection the bullets missed Trump.

Trump and his political opponents have a duty to the American people to tone down on their attacks on each other as it has created an explosive political climate in the United States.

God forbid we dont want the American economy to collapse due to widespread political violence as it is a crucial part of the World’s economic system with dire global repercussions if it does.

‘The land of the free’ where convicts are presidential contestants and actors think their scripts include the sway to pontify.

This is the freedom Fiji basks in today (sic), where accountability is a farce – in politics, public service, corporate, in general. Where autocracy was deemed dictatorial and now a self-righteous, self-serving, biased and nepotistic leader is lauded as strategic and is for the people. Damn.

It was a Kangaroo court charges against Trump. Everyone in the United States knows it. Every charge they bring against him it boosted his popularity ratings. Even the Democratic base such as the black vote are undergoing a huge shift to vote Trump which is a change that is not seen in decades.

The last time the black Americana voted in large mass was during the 1930s but shift their vote to the Democratic Party.

This is despite the Republican Party being the party of Abraham Lincoln and the US Democratic Party being the party of Jim Crow and slavery.

Whatever the USA failings has, it has the best Constitution in the world (my humble opinion).

Where Every American has the right to voice their opinions and is safeguarded by their Constitution which is overseen by the US Supreme Court and the US House of Representatives.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
