Wow, this government has really no shame, bereft of any values for its purpose and mission for the country. And to top it off, these are government media stooges who will play any game to stay in its pockets. Thank you PAP and Rabuka. The people of Fiji are neither dumb nor ignorant.

I can’t be the only one disturbed by the stench emanating from this picture.

There is just no coming back from this.
The government and the media are now tools for the oligarchs to do as they please, for their own benefit. And not for the benefit of the people.

With rampant corruption, chronic degradation of the public sector, and a total loss of public trust in the judiciary as well as loss of judicial integrity, a coup at this juncture would be a pointless exercise, because power will eventually revert to corrupt elements with self interests after situation normalises. In exactly how the situation is unfolding before us.

    What a mess!

Dishonest and delusional media figureheads who are, indeed, living it up at the expense of dumbing the Fijian public. Stanley Simpson pretends to be the spokesperson for journalists in the country, while refusing to give up control of the Media Association.

In a company of dishonest individuals like Fred Wesley and Vijay Narayan, Simpson has aided the crippling of the mainstream news media. I have watched him through the years and how he manipulates public opinion based on his own interests. His business interest supersedes all other interests.

Where are the younger generation of journalists? Why aren’t they standing up to these bullies? Does Fiji have any brave, courageous journalists around?

There’s also photos of the whole group with the Resnicks. It’s not just Stan the kaidia and Vijay the vuji. Others are there as well. All very happy and looking very kaicolo after their Fiji Water private jet ride.

They were all no doubt fed and brainwashed really well and parted with gifts that’ll be undeclared and will now be fiji water disciples for the foreseeable future. These people have no shame. They don’t know the meaning of media ethics and principles. They are the best prostitutes in Fiji after the coalition government and its best bitch rabaku.

Must be stupid, ignorant, naive or all the above to let the the corporate jet photo get in the public domain.
Now there is less than zero credibility in the CFL deal.
It is no secret that the Resnicks were Joe Biden and Democrat donors.

Stan on his Facebook states that any discussion about the effects of tariff is off the records as negotiations continue.

But the dumb a@s forgets to ask why this billionaire is given a tax free ride in Fiji, what has he produced for Fiji and how does it directly impact the Fijians at home (knowing that the village where Fiji Water was from didn’t even have running water), did he give the PM of Fiji a Rolex watch, what was Naidu’s part in negotiating the tax exemption benefit, and why can he not pay the taxes like other companies?

Well, might be too much to ask for Fiji’s media. They have yet to learn the basic of investigative journalism. Just a free ride for now.

As a part European from Savusavu, I looked up to people like Stanley.
But over the years I have noticed greed and unethical practices and behaviour from him.
He no longer holds that respect and when I returned home to Savusavu recently, the common folks had the same to say.
This guy is selling himself everywhere for fame and a few dollars. His posts feed his clueless sheep.

Isa, Stan. I have lost all hope in you.
It’s time you totally back off from the industry as you cannot keep yourself and the industry in check. You are a failure and you aid in corruption. Your grandparents must roll in their graves seeing this today.

  20. Mainstream Media Finished says

    April 18, 2025 at 1:16 am

Am I right to conclude this? Mainstream media is now highly compromised in Fiji by cowering to the rich and powerful for fear of losing bribes or kickbacks. No critique on national issues (just a little coverage here and there), boring news coverage by not attempting to challenge viewpoints of those in authority, turning a blind eye to critical issues, and a tendency to remain silent for personal gain.

Wananavu Graham, 24 comments so far as of midnight, based on just the title of your post. Can imagine when your full story comes out.

My family is sacrificing hot cross buns for your article, which will be read over draunimoli or co boi (Fiji grass) tea and fried tavioka leftover from yesterday, while Stan, VJ, Fred et al. enjoy their 5-star breakfast.

Oh, lest we forget, Pio too will be chowing similar breakfast while on his global trot. Left 2 days ago; 2 down, 40 to go! So 40 more such breakfasts.

Graham, I was watching the masses queuing at ATMs, withdrawing hard earned paisa with depressed faces to shop for their Easter chow. Then even more depressed faces from market vendors over the glut food supply, mostly subjects of the late Qaranivalu, as shoppers stayed away from Suva Market. Torrential rain did not help at all. So more chow noodles, not fresh garden produce, will be consumed over this Siga ni Mate weekend. A real Siga ni Mate, not Siga ni Bula as NCDs will continue to rise!

    Dread saying ‘Happy Easter’ 😢

Not sympathy, zero empathy for ethnonationalist market vendors. They can take thier produce to the reguregu.

Suva market is no longer a place to be every Saturday morning.

What was normally once a hive of activity with joyous banter all around and great fresh produce is now full of pickpockets, aggressive wheel barrow pushers including verbal abuse directed at both motorists parking and those trying to shop.

The arrogance on display is extraordinary, the vendors poverty real. Try telling them that. They deserve the snake they hero-worship.

Meanwhile, all non itaukei vendors are forced to closely watch their stalls. Especially when the natives start deliberately making a commotion to divert everyone’s attention. That’s when fellow ethnonationalist Christians brethren strike- stealing without care of being caught.

The council in its f***ed up wisdom installed TVs inside the market vendor/shoppers to “enjoy” rugby. Woe to those that join to watch TV. You guessed it–as ethno-nationalist Christians brethren strike- stealing without care of being caught.

The racism towards Indo-Fijians is brazen and blatant. Personally experienced; try parking in designated areas close to native tapioca and talo vendors. The aggressive reception is shocking as they force you to move.

The overt racism by ordinary iTaukei is a shame and a real ball and chain around our necks. No progress is possible in such an environment.

And yet the same vendors expect those they hate and abuse to patronize their business. Isn’t that nice?

Such wonderful bula bula bullying bullshit Christians.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
