# US AMBASSADOR TO PACK HIS BAGS

Posted on November 8, 2020 10 Comments

The American ambassador to Fiji, Joseph Cella, is destined to become one of the shortest serving US envoys after his patron, Donald Trump, was given his marching orders by the American people in the presidential election. As a political appointment, he will soon be replaced by either another political appointment chosen by the election victor, Joe … [Read more...] about # US AMBASSADOR TO PACK HIS BAGS

#RATTLED BY THE “SNAKE”

Posted on November 5, 2020 18 Comments

The Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, shows every sign of being rattled by Sitiveni Rabuka, judging from his extraordinary attack on him on Monday at the 20th anniversary commemoration of the mutiny at the Queen Elizabeth Barracks in November 2000. His description of Rabuka as a “snake” in a speech to the assembled members of the military … [Read more...] about #RATTLED BY THE “SNAKE”

#CHINA’S STRATEGY OF INTIMIDATION IN THE PACIFIC

Posted on November 2, 2020 15 Comments

The recent incident at Taiwan's national day celebration in Suva at which uninvited Chinese diplomats assaulted a Taiwanese official made headlines around the world. Yet even as the incident faded from the news cycle, the strategists whose business it is to keep an eye on China's ambitions in the region have been digesting its importance. Here's an … [Read more...] about #CHINA’S STRATEGY OF INTIMIDATION IN THE PACIFIC

# KISHORE KUMAR: WHO KNEW WHAT AND WHEN?

Posted on October 29, 2020 25 Comments

Everything about Kishore Kumar - the rogue computer science teacher at the centre of a political storm in Fiji - is bizarre. There is his appearance – the darting eyes and crescent beard that seems glued to his chin like a caricature villain in a C grade Bollywood movie. There is the staccato verbal delivery and wild language – the conspiratorial … [Read more...] about # KISHORE KUMAR: WHO KNEW WHAT AND WHEN?

# MORE SHAMELESS SPIN FROM CJ PATEL’S FIJI SUN

Posted on October 28, 2020 2 Comments

It may seem that Grubsheet is spending far too much time on the performance of CJ Patel's Fiji Sun but that is only because the newspaper is so shameless in its propaganda in favour of the man who controls it - the Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum. Once again, the AG's manservant, the white haired Sage from Rewa, Nemani Delaibatiki, spins the … [Read more...] about # MORE SHAMELESS SPIN FROM CJ PATEL’S FIJI SUN

#CJ PATEL’S FIJI SUN. ALL CLASS

Posted on October 23, 2020 18 Comments

Not content with being a lickspittle of the Attorney General and the worst propaganda rag in the region, the Fiji Sun has unleashed its mangy dogs of war on Grubsheet. The main letter at the top of today's letters column is clearly from one of the Fiji's Sun's more erudite correspondents - a certain Tukai Lagonilakeba from Nadi, entitled "You … [Read more...] about #CJ PATEL’S FIJI SUN. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
