# 73 DOCTOR EDGE RESPONDS

Posted on May 1, 2012 15 Comments

The following was submitted to the Fiji Sun for publication as a reply to Graham’s column of Sunday. As the column was reprinted from this blog, however, I feel it is appropriate to post the reply as a blog comment as well, which will also open it up to response by Graham and others. But first I must thank Graham for getting such a lively … [Read more...] about # 73 DOCTOR EDGE RESPONDS

#71 EDGE OF REALITY

Posted on April 28, 2012 51 Comments

Sometimes in a long career in journalism - and Grubsheet has been a scribe for nigh on 40 years – one reads or hears an account of an event at which one was present that bears so little resemblance to reality that one’s jaw drops in utter astonishment. So it was with the account given to Radio Australia on Thursday by Dr Marc Edge –the … [Read more...] about #71 EDGE OF REALITY

#YET ANOTHER SELF INFLICTED KHAIYUM DISASTER

Posted on September 22, 2020 21 Comments

Shooting yourself in the foot

As my old Grubsheet sparring partner, Dr Marc Edge, observed in the wake of the attack on me by the Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, on Sunday, "there is no such thing as bad publicity", and so it has proved to be. I would like to say that I can scarcely believe the ineptitude of the Attorney-General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, in encouraging the PM to … [Read more...] about #YET ANOTHER SELF INFLICTED KHAIYUM DISASTER

# ECONOMIES WITH THE TRUTH (UPDATED 12/5)

Posted on May 8, 2013 55 Comments

The Government’s cyber critics have been blindsided by the announcement that all three former major political parties – Labour, the National Federation Party and SODELPA, the former SDL – have been cleared to contest the 2014 election. The declaration by the Registrar of Elections, Mohammed Saneem, that all three entities had cleared the hurdle … [Read more...] about # ECONOMIES WITH THE TRUTH (UPDATED 12/5)

# YET ANOTHER “TRAVERSTY” OF THE TRUTH

Posted on March 26, 2013 186 Comments

There are increasing signs of desperation among the anti-government forces in Fiji as the country moves closer to the introduction of a brand of democracy that they are desperately trying to prevent - a non-racial model of one person, one vote, one value. That sense of desperation has reached fever pitch with the publication of the new Draft … [Read more...] about # YET ANOTHER “TRAVERSTY” OF THE TRUTH

# GLOVES OFF OVER USP JOURNALISM

Posted on February 1, 2013 23 Comments

UPDATED FEBRUARY 4TH AS DAVID ROBIE BRANDS MARC EDGE A LIAR: Grubsheet is bored to distraction with the antics of Marc Edge, the academic poseur who was forced to resign as head of journalism at the University of the South Pacific after repeated complaints of misconduct. But we're returning to the vomit - the only apt description for Edge's … [Read more...] about # GLOVES OFF OVER USP JOURNALISM

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
