# JUSTICE DENIED

Posted on November 7, 2021 3 Comments

Confidence in the criminal justice system and especially in the independence of the judiciary is the bedrock of any functioning democracy. Yet that confidence is currently being eroded in Fiji by the delay in the convening of the Judicial Services Commission tribunal hearing into the allegation of “misbehaviour” laid against the Solicitor General, … [Read more...] about # JUSTICE DENIED

# GRUBSHEET ON FACEBOOK

Posted on October 2, 2021 9 Comments

Grubsheet continues to post Fijian-related material on its Facebook page even as the main long- format site is in recess until the lead-up to the Fijian election sometime between July 2022 and January 2023. We are continuing to break stories, many of which the rest of the Fijian media ignores, and in a very short space of time, have built a … [Read more...] about # GRUBSHEET ON FACEBOOK

# STATEMENT BY GRAHAM DAVIS

Posted on August 19, 2021 7 Comments

The Fijian Attorney General, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, has committed the grave offence of misleading the Fijian Parliament with his claim that the government does not tell the Fiji Sun what to put on its front page. It is a lie. On multiple occasions when I was the government's principal communications advisor, the AG directed me to contact the … [Read more...] about # STATEMENT BY GRAHAM DAVIS

(From the Grubsheet Facebook page) The price of complacency and hubris - the deadly Indian variant of Covid-19 well and truly established in the Pacific. Fijians deserve answers to the following questions: Why have certain locals been permitted to travel to India since the border closure last year, including - it is said - to buy gold and … [Read more...] about #TIME FOR SOME ANSWERS, FRANK

# BIDEN BITES BACK AT BAINIMARAMA

Posted on March 28, 2021 20 Comments

(From Grubsheet's Facebook page): True story because I was there: Fiji's Prime Minister, Frank Bainimarama, says to the former US Ambassador, Judith Sefkin, at a reception at State House in Suva: "You are not a true friend of Fiji. See that guy over there? (Pointing to the Chinese ambassador). That's a true friend of Fiji". Sefkin was a US State … [Read more...] about # BIDEN BITES BACK AT BAINIMARAMA

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
