“Bad Barbie” Barbara Malimali was eviscerated by the Ashton-Lewis Commission of Inquiry into the circumstances of her appointment as Acting FICAC Commissioner. She has been eviscerated again in the Tuiqereqere judgment on the CoI – the Judge’s comments about her conduct ruling out any prospect of reinstatement or, for that matter, ever again securing a senior role in an institution of state.
But Bad Barbie isn’t taking it lying down. She has gone on an extraordinary offensive in today’s Fiji Times – a front-page splash and two inside stories in which she suggests that her drunken conduct with a judge that got her barred from practicing law in Tuvalu was nothing out of the ordinary and threatening to expose others in public life who are guilty of the same kind of conduct.
It confirms once and for all Barbara Malimali’s total unsuitability for any senior public role in Fiji – not only the folly of the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, in having appointed her to head the corruption watchdog in the first place but scuttling any prospect of her rehabilitation.
Restoring her to FICAC has already been dashed by Justice Dane Tuiqereqere‘s findings but she has been clearly fishing for another role – assisted by the public advocacy of her lawyer, Tanya Waqanika – and she has just destroyed any prospect of that altogether.
Why? Because she emerges from this latest outburst as someone totally without judgment – unstable, intemperate, vindictive and with no concept whatsoever of proper standards of conduct in public life. So I’m a drunk, she appears to be saying. What of it? Everyone else is drunk and if I don’t get what I want I’ll be naming the lot of them. Seriously?
If Barbara Malimali thought this was a good idea, she is deluded – her mind evidently ravaged by alcohol and her judgment clouded by the compliments that continue to come her way on social media from supporters whose own judgment has been suspended or who never had any in the first place.
The stories about Barbara Malmali’s conduct are legion and go far beyond a drunken escapade on a beach in Tuvalu. She is notoriously louche, licentious and dissolute.
One former senior officer of state tells me of a post-official drinks session in which Malimali boasted of the number of “b***-jobs” she had given. Another former senior civil servant tells me of an astonishing incident at the Fiji Club in which a succession of men enjoyed Malimali’s favours.
So this isn’t just about “alcohol on a beach”. It is about a pattern of behaviour which includes lying about ever being denied a legal practicing certificate (Tuvalu denied her one and she failed to declare it in Fiji) which means that she must never again hold a position of public trust.
There were already a great many nails in Barbara Malimali’s coffin. In today’s Fiji Times, she has just driven the last one in all by herself.
The Tuvalu letter. “Not a fit and proper person”. But Salesi Temo as head of the Judicial Services Commission appointed Barbara Malimali Acting FICAC Commissioner anyway.

Well, given a resume like that there is no doubt she could work for herself, maybe she could add the list of her clients that succumbed to her charm and lined up for bj’s and all of her other charming acts, to her comprehensive curriculum vitae.
Looks like she already has a good customer base so she won’t go hungry, but maybe the queue might not be as long when the former lot find they have to pay for her services.
I’m thinking that with rubbish like she spoke of in those interviews on her record, she will not be getting many job offers in this country, apart from those on the streets of Suva.
What I want to know is who the f**k wants to sleep with her ………..and who the f**k would want to get a bl*w job from her? What the f**k are these people thinking?
WTF is the whole of Fiji thinking?
And then…………..and then they all go to church just like her. It is just fascinating. The whole thing is just fascinating.
Personally, I believe she has all the right qualifications and hallmarks to make the next PM. She is better ‘quaified’ than Lynda. Maybe Lynda can be one of the deputies. I am serious.
None of these and other nonsense activities would have happened under the previous FijiFirst Government.
Barbie, Yes it is not a crime to drink on the beach .
But what u do after that reflects who you really are .
You seem to think you are self-entitled to senior public office but you don’t even meet the basic prerequisites on professional conduct and the ethics matrix.
Shameful indeed and a sad day for all female lawyers who maintain the nobility of the profession.
Fiji’s ethical framework has dipped so low that lawyers are succumbing to egoistic tirades in the media claiming to be ‘good lawyers’ . Blowing your own trumpet huh?
Let Fiji decide if you are good enough to be called one in the first place!
Your unethical actions has cost the taxpayers of this nation . Can’t run from your karma!

At least Tuvalu has some standards.
Like a stubborn boomerang carved entirely from hubris and bad choices, she is still clawing her way back as though shameless persistence were a valid ground of appeal.
Discretion was evidently never her strongest brief.
Bad leadership is how the government turned into a den of inequities.
Vote them out.
And this is why we need a ballroom!
Barbara malimali’s words don’t carry any weight and never did…best look for a job at the supermarket checkout !
This ape of a woman should be removed and prevented from ever being involved in this line of work……totally and utterly unsuitable!
