Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka‘s tactic of using taxpayer funds to acquire the votes of previously independent former members of FijiFirst by buying them off with ministerial positions has now given him control of 70 per cent of the parliament. And he is just four votes short of the magic 75 per cent that will enable him to change the Constitution.
Change to what? It’s a question Grubsheet, for one, has been asking for months without getting a single answer from the Prime Minister or anyone else who wants to alter the supreme law. Does it include abolishing the common and equal citizenry and the common identity that Fiji’s minorities secured for the first time in the 2013 Constitution? We have to suspect that it does, given the Prime Minister’s silence and his commitment to indigenous supremacy that goes back to his coups of 1987.
If they have any sense of self-preservation, the nation’s minorities should be deeply worried. Because all it will take now is for four members of the Group of 16 former FijiFirst members to be enticed across the floor of the parliament with the promise of riches at the taxpayer’s expense for Rabuka to begin changing the Constitution legally.
He would have the support to achieve the 75 per cent threshold in the parliament required under the Constitution to alter it – an extraordinary achievement that most would have thought impossible until now because the bar is set so high yet is now within reach. The craven nature of our politicians and the temptation of salaries that went through the roof last year make acquiring those elusive four remaining votes tantalisingly close.
Of course, even if the Prime Minister were to find four more traitors to betray the principles of the party on whose coattails they rode to power and achieve the magic 75 per cent, the Constitution stipulates that he would still have to get 75 per cent of voters to agree to change in a national referendum. But who is to say that constitutional provision would withstand the first barrier being surmounted – the fact that 75 per cent of the nation’s elected representatives had voted for change?
The Coalition has already played so fast and loose with the supreme law and Rabuka and those around them are so determined to alter it that it is the easiest thing in the world to imagine them going to the country and saying: “75 per cent of your elected representatives support change, parliament is the ultimate authority in the country, therefore there is no need for a costly referendum and we are forging ahead without it”.
This makes the question of which parts of the Constitution they want changed a burning issue of the moment. Yet the Prime Minister and his supporters are continually getting away with avoiding the hard questions about whether change includes removing the common and equal citizenry (equal votes of equal value) and the common identity (everyone Fijian). For non-indigenous citizens – close to one third of the nation – these are the only provisions that really matter. Because to revert to the constitutions of the past will again establish us as second class citizens in the land of our birth. And that is simply unacceptable.
Were the Prime Minister to say: “Look, the common and equal citizenry and the common identity aren’t in question and will remain”, he would do a great deal to reassure the minorities that their rights will be respected. But he isn’t doing that. Far from it. There is a constant mantra about “changing the constitution” but neither he nor anyone else is addressing the elephant in the room. What change? And it is a question that must be answered before we go any further.
With the appointment of the six new ministers and assistant ministers from the G9 (we were told it was seven in the media yesterday but only six were sworn in), there has been a mixed reaction, most of it bad. The Prime Minister said with a straight face that it wouldn’t involve any extra burden on the taxpayer “because it is already in the budget”. Bullsh*t. Of course it involves extra expense and the average Fijian knows it. And it is already clear from the public reaction that the people simply aren’t buying Rabuka’s lasulasu-jhoot.
And what happened with Siromi Turaga? The Fiji Times front page yesterday said he was gone from the Justice Ministry based on the Prime Minister saying “yes” to the question: “Is Siromi Turaga being reassigned? “But there was no announcement yesterday and while visibly chastened, the architect of the Pryde and Nakarawa debacles is still in the justice portfolio. For the moment.
With Sitiveni Rabuka at the helm, the government lurches from one crisis to another and the Fijian people have come to expect poor governance and instability as a semi-permanent state. But it doesn’t mean they accept it. Disillusion is spreading as fast as a California wildfire and astonishingly, extends today to Fred Wesley‘s editorial in the normally supine Fiji Times.
When even Fred gets restive and turns his attention from sport to politics, we can be sure that the chronic incompetence, cynicism and gross opportunism of these clowns is really starting to bite.
————-

Fred is finally stirred into action…

Strangely, the Fiji Sun is taking a more conciliatory line…

But the view on the street is not in the Prime Minister’s favour.

And finally, the last word today from Nilesh Lal – the head of Dialogue Fiji – with a withering attack on the Prime Minister and the Coalition, accusing them of “living it up” at the expense of ordinary taxpayers.
Grubsheet had cause to criticise Nilesh Lal recently over his defence of Lynda Tabuya. But on this issue, he is devastatingly spot on.
But where are the other NGOs, and especially Shamima Ali?

My world.
My people
The world , the way it should be.
Read the scriptures dumbfounded ones.
Scratch the surface and there will be a few, a very few that follow that silly man.
Silly man thinks he can find men or women who can last 40 days and 40 nights with the temptation goodies I have in my bag, HO HO HO HA HA HA.
They can not last one day, forget 2 days.
Unless the 6 or 7 new ministers have agreed to “work” in their new roles pro Bono (for free) they WILL COST the taxpayer significantly more than what they were getting as opposition MPs. Who is the PM trying to fool by saying there will be no additional cost.
He has got a secret stash from the drug lords.
it is clear as daylight that Rabuka’s ultimate aim is to change the 2013 constitution and deny about a third of Fiji’s population equal citizenry, as enshrined in the constitution. One of the greatest attribute in the current constitution is it give everyone the same status as a Fijian.
But this is obviously a big barrier to Rabuka’s ethno-nationalistic agenda, and he is determined to put this final ‘icing on the cake’ to complete his illegal and racist agenda he embarked on in 1987.
It is beyond belief that NFP cannot see this and Biman Prasad continues to suck up to Rabuka, in the face of this outrage, with his only objective, ie to save his own position. I wonder what the rest of the NFP: Agni Deo Singh, Sashi Karan, Lenora and Pio are thinking? Does anyone of them have any conscience and principle left or are they completely beholden to Rabuka, the venomous snake.
And where are the other voices, so called ‘conscience’ of the society? Religious groups such as Arya Samaj, Sanatan, Sangam, Muslim League, Churches seem conspicuously silent. And where is FCOSS, the women’s groups and other NGOs?
I am convinced Rabuka does have 4 others willing to join him, or more accurately be prostituted by him in return for positions and money of course, but he did not want to reveal this all in one go. This would have been too much for the nation to swallow. See how his main comments in response to this outrage were it would not cost the Government any more and he is only 4 short!
The country needs to wake up and take on more aggressive stands to counter this. Rabuka knows that all outrage, as demonstrated in the social media, will fizzle down and he will continue unashamedly on this racist crusade, supported by the BCPs, Charan Singhs and Motibhais of this world!
NFP is history – it has enabled SLR to get the platform he needed to achieve his 87 Agenda.
What a travesty that is. Because the educated and informed itaukei know that his 1987 agenda spells disaster for them.
Hey bro. Obviously you not in Fiji. There is a growing groundswell of opinion that wants the 2013 Constitution thrown out because if its Amnesty clauses – a whole chapter is devoted to it to cover the asses of Khaiyum and Bainimarams and their ilk.
Topper the amnesty clauses also cover Rabuka for what he did in 87…a lack of educational analysis from you
And what about Rabuka and his ilk? Shouldn’t he be in jail. But your head is buried so far up his arse that it’s totally clouded your judgement. Grow up ..fiji is going down the drain and your stupid brain is worried about the constitution..nothing wrong with the constitution. It’s your head which needs fixing.
Exactly, what is Rabuka proposing to change in the Constitution that right now safeguards him from not landing into prison? It has also safeguarded his cronies who are sitting with him in PAP and are closely associated with PAP.
Rabuka is the ultimate dictator and a threat to Fiji and the Pacific. He has done the same in the past where he has walked over his party members and brought others in. That is shamelessly telling his party that they don’t really matter.
Like PAP, NFP and SODELPA have achieved nothing for Fiji 2 years now. They are all a waste of space and should be given the walking ticket next election by the voters.
Let’s not forget that Fiji has been a doomed nation since 1987 followed by years of dictatorship by the Bainimarama government who worked hard for common citizenship for all but were found to be corrupt too. So we have years of poor leadership.
We must break away from being stupid and looking like fools.
None of this is going away if we do not see a new party at play soon. Unity Fiji is dead as and Labour doesn’t hold the credibility between MC and his son.
Who is there to put their hand up and lead the nation faithfully? Breaking away from coup culture. Time will tell. For now though, there is nothing for Fiji for the next decade if this saga continues.
Stanley Simpson is busy praising his media colleagues for the question time with the thug Rabuka and his new line of “reshuffled” ministers.
He said this was new. To give his journalists time to learn to ask better questions. He said that this wasn’t the chance that they were given with past government so he is happy with the progress.
Stanley, the problem is not the questions itself. The issue is that the media in Fiji is not up to scrutiny and scratch themselves as professionals. They don’t know how to interview after you sitting at the helm of journalism for 20 or so years? You must be fooling your kailoma broken English lot on Facebook and that’s it. You trying to gain praise from 300 people when over half a million people in Fiji are probably left misinformed and uninformed due to media failure to scrutinise the government. Fiji media won’t even understand investigative journalism even if it hit them on their faces everyday.
Go back in your hole. We don’t need you Stanley. The media has well and truly let Fijians down.
Lenora says she has had enough.
Enough of what?
Keeping quiet and hiding under Biman’s skirt.
Keeping the unfaithful PM of Fiji at leadership and praying for a change.
You are a fool Lenora.
I expected better from you but you have let us down terribly.
You spoke too much and questioned when in opposition.
What happened now?
“I gave myself the authority to do the coup” coupist is an outlaw and a beggar. Outlaw – because his agenda always has been to destroy laws that don’t suit him through taking matters in his own hand or through changing the constitution. Beggar – because he will use taxpayers money to beg for votes of MP’s and general public so that he gets to satisfy his own egos that suits no one – study Fijian history especially after 1987.
Just like in Pryde’s case justice must and will prevail. At the end of the day there is good over evil no matter the interim destruction. To get 75% the beggar needs 4 more votes provided the Lynda’s, Siromi’s, Baimans, Pio’s, Gavoka’s vote in favour. There is a lot of bad blood there already. There in lies an escape for a breakaway group from this mess. Either to further their corrupt agendas or some sensible ones (based on their own moral courage or through convincing from has beens), I sense someone will soon stand up against this not so smart coupist.
Be wary of the quiet ones like the Bai’s and Kai’s and the RFMF….the coupist outlaw beggar has his work cut out. It’s a shame his second chance to redeem himself ends up in further destruction for the nation and himself.
This government is now totally composed of weak people, because weak people are in the majority. And a hallmark of this weak government is that they rely on lies because truth involves courage. Led of course by the chief liar, SL Rabuka.
They habitually lie to protect themselves from us finding out they are robbing us blind.
They habitually lie because of greed and hate for the vulagis.
They habitually lie to control the people when the people should actually be controlling them.
We have facilitated this state of deceit because we have been too trusting that our government had the good of the people foremost in all their intentions.
The only people that they have good intentions for is themselves.
Very little of what the people of Fiji have put into this government has benefited the country, but these cronies in government just kept raising their salaries for themselves without proper and honest consideration for the strugglers who actually pay their salaries.
They don’t care about the homeless, or you and me, or the pressing critical issues facing Fiji atm. We are beneath them and they hate us.
Changing the Constitution will be the final nail in the coffin for Fiji. The fact that they are not being transparent about what they want to change is all the evidence we need for this.
This government has failed and has lost its way. Rabuka is now lying and deceiving the people that their grievances will be heard and resolved with 36 ministers now on demand. Fiji doesn’t have that much money to pay these freeloaders. The economy will collapse and the ordinary citizens will have to suffer due to this gross incompetence and corruption.
Fiji, it’s never too late to start the fight. Let the multitudes on every social media platform know what Rabuka is doing to destroy our beloved nation.
Pressure the lame Fiji media to hold them accountable. There’s still time left till elections in 2026.
Isa o Viti.
It’s all about money for these scavengers/ vultures whatever name that fits them, the people that voted for them can go screw themselves.
In his second term starting on January 20, Trump said he will not be getting paid, his salary will go to charity. Can the scavengers donate some of theirs.
Dream on!!
“In his second term starting on January 20, Trump said he will not be getting paid, his salary will go to charity. Can the scavengers donate some of theirs.“
Not true. No proof the 34-times convicted felon ever donated a single penny the first time in 2016. Who/which charities (if one) did he donate to? The man never pays a penny except to lawyers (sometimes) and porn stars.
No he will NOT give more this time around. In fact he will bill the US taxpayers for use of his own properties by himself.
Remember this is the same guy who STOLE from his own charity!
GD. The fijian public must mobilize themselves in their communities in which ever way possible to voice their concerns because the jelly fish media industry will do simply f**k all to ask the most pertinent questions on behalf of the fijian taxpayers.
Rabuka couldn’t hide his glee at yesterday’s press conference when he said he was just a few seats short of getting the go ahead for a constitutional change. Baritone was at his best…more timber in the voice, a smirk that gave away his glee all the whilst parading his newly acquired whores that he’s just added to his harem.
The fresh prostitutes looked very coy and demure in trying to hide their saganas under their very short girly sulus. Naupoto looked very gay indeed…dutifully passing the very phallic microphone whilst crossing his girly legs, naivalarua looked like the typical new whore in the harem with a confused “am I dreaming or is this real” look and bulitavu looked like the veteran and professional whore that has been through many whore houses.
And did our free media ask any hard and stiff questions that a free media is supposed to from the whore house madame and her new girls? Of course not…! How dare we suggest that lice the kutu, Vijay the vuji, anish the anus, or Fred the f**k all ask any relevant questions about finances, the economy or even what part of the constitution that these mother f**kers so desperately want to change. They could have asked the new prostitutes what they thought of changes to the constitution, which parts and why when the party that they used to get into parliament was vehemently opposed to any changes…doesn’t this mean they have betrayed the very people that voted them in?
There’s a myriad of questions that could and should be asked on a daily basis. They used to scrutinize and grill the previous govt…why can’t they do this now. Oh but lest we forget…the fbcs indra the incompetent always slips under the radar. He and his team are doing such a bad job that they don’t even register in any single criticism of the fijian media!!. It’s as if the fbc doesn’t even exist…thats how incompetent that newsroom and it’s leaders are.
Maybe one day the media will dare ask which parts of the constitution rabaku and his harem want changed…but by then it’ll be too late for us the public. We would have already descended down the slippery slope of chaos to our oblivion.
Everyone says to have hope etc…but we don’t have any anymore…except for one..that rabaku has a heart attack and dies soon and then these sona levus will turn on each other and have the biggest friggin shit fight amongst themselves to see who will become leader and have the most power.
Unfortunately we have to have blood letting in Fiji for things to settle down for the betterment of all fijians. We are already almost 4 decades overdue for the bloodletting. The tribalism, provincialisim, national and ethnic and religious politics, the racism etc was the genie that was released by rabuka on 14th May 1987. We as a country have not been able to put the genie back into the bottle since then, and it’s only a mighty shit fight that will start within the itaukei themselves that will end it all. It’s just around the corner..it will happen soon.
The Fijian public will mobilize around a tanoa.
“….bulitavu looked like the veteran and professional whore that has been through many whore houses…”
This is the same bullytavu who has directed racist remarks at Indo Fijians including that the itaukei learnt killing and stabbing from the Indian vulagis. Holy fark.
He conveniently forgot to mention his own native people were clubbing, spearing, and killing fellow natives for dinner long before the arrival of Indian slaves.
The slaves then went on to give their blood, sweat, and tears -even their lives- to make this a better place.
Bullytavu also said Indo-Fijian northern women were promiscuous whores.
The bastard has never apologized for his vile shameful remarks to dehumanize a community.
But bastards like him have form when it comes to racism and he is now finally united with hiss uncle and master racist the snake SLR.
One wonders though, what the little man wearing big trousers baimaan has to say now about bullytavu calling baimaan’s northern kin promiscuous whores.
By the definition of which, Rajini Chand would also be a northern, promiscuous whore.
Your move, Baiman? Any welcome mat for Bulitavu from you?
Service delivery will be key to the new appointed Ministers and Asst Ministers! Do these 7 have the ability to churn out top of the range service delivery ? I think not ! They are just an added headache for the taxpayers of Fiji!
And on the ruse by Rabuka that we are closer now to amending the constitution- you really think he wants to do that risking the immunity clause being removed ?
Stop being idiots people Fiji! If ye all happy for Rasona to insult your intelligence don’t extend the same to the rest of us !
Dumb asses ! You are the vote you cast !
Rabuka has lost any glimpse of insight he allegedly had. He’s been obsessively working away at his indigenous supremacy and associated constitutional change hyper fixations, all the while attempting to keep up appearances of unity and a Fiji for all.
Yet he has no concept of how this actually looks in reality to most of Fiji and the world. While his motives lack transparency, he has no idea how transparent his behaviour really is. He is just looking like a silly old fool. The bubble within which his mind sits is the only thing remarkable about him.
The questions remaining: is there enough integrity left in Parliament and Fiji to put the greater good above an old fool’s financial manipulation? How many others can only vote from their own bubble of self-interest? How many are willing to take a stand for Fiji’s future?
Only the Indians from Labasa will be voting for Bee-man in the 2026 election. The rest of the Indians don’t support NFP. But I suspect that FLP will have more support from Indians in 2026 since FijiFirst is gone.
No, we not. Biman can get f**ked for all he wants. Even the people from Dreketi don’t want to see this bastard anymore. So please spare the Labasa people. We voted for FFP mostly.
Oops. GD. How could i miss out on stanley the kaidia who is very pleased about the medias line of questions at the expanded whore house celebrations yesterday. If he thinks this was great questioning and the media needs more time to get better then what the f**k are news editors teaching the newsroom?? It just means the editors who are supposedly better at this craft and have more knowledge about media are just as incompetent as their staff.
I think rabuka has very tight competition from the other newest whore house in town. It’s called the media industry and is made up of a lot of madames who are the very senior whores to the junior whores. Occasionally they have special appearance whores like, richard naidu, wadan narsey, shailendra Singh, mac patel etc who pop in to provide some express services to keep their regular customers the fijian govt satisfied.
What other way is available to parliament to amend the Constitution other than obtaining a 75% majority on the floor of parliament?
Did the back-room designers of the 2013 Constitution obtain the approval of 75% of the population before shoving it down our throats at the point of a gun?
It is impossible to obtain 75% approval of registered voters. We have had at the most about a 60% turnout at elections, so the 75% requirement is unrealistic.
Why should other ethnic minorities (ie the old General Voters) care about the longevity of the 2013 Constitution when they dont hsve a seat in parliament? The 2013 Constitution wiped away their representation. They no longer have a seat at the dinner table.
The cost of legally attaining the 75% parliamentary majority as evidenced by the cost of getting the G9 on board, is exhorbitant.
There must be a better formula that suits our condition. The singular focus on a common and equal citizenry distracts from other important questions that must also be considered in a formal Review that more and more people are demanding including indigenous Fijians and other ‘General Voters’.
A critical mass supporting Constitutional change is developing in Fiji’s population base. That, cannot be ignored. Like it or not, the train of constitutional change has already left the station.Sit back and enjoy the ride folks.
“Did the back-room designers of the 2013 Constitution obtain the approval of 75% of the population before shoving it down our throats at the point of a gun?”
Kaicolo: Didn’t the snake scumbuka “abrogate” a constitution ‘at the point of a gun’ in 1987?
Oh, and who was that jarringly i
‘Shoved down our throats’ a culture of coup d’état in Fiji ‘at the point of a gun.’?
Wacol kaicolo: Did not the same scumbuka ‘shove down our throats’ another constitution in 1990 ‘at the point of a gun?’
Wacol kaicolo: And did not the same scumbuka ‘shove down our throats’ another regressive, racist constitution ‘at the point of a gun in 1997’?
Why do bastards have such selective memories? You are so full of it wacolo.
Why does evey view point have to be against the same battered indo community always? What happened to the PMs call for unity?
Or does the pm mean unity only amongst the itaukei and hate for others??
Next: “It is impossible to obtain 75% approval of registered voters. We have had at the most about a 60% turnout at elections, so the 75% requirement is unrealistic.”
Wacol kaicolo: You truly are a special idiot. Total votes cast-be it 60% or 40% does not matter!
What matters is that of the total votes cast (60% or 40%) 75% of those votes would have to be in favor of yes. If not “no” prevails.
For a Yes vote the magic % must be at least 75% plus 1. Anything less would equate to “no” vote.
Remember too, the “no” vote does not need to be 75%. The yes vote must meet the threshold percentage to pass the electoral muster.
A referendum does NOT mean 75% of the electorate must vote.
In other words any percentage of actual voter turn out (electorate)
will be sufficient for 75% yes or no is enough to get a referendum.
And, why you scared sh1tless of putting any changes to a referendum? Why you lamu?
As for “general voter community” not having a seat at the dinner table. No one community is barred from contesting elections in Fiji.
Communal, tribal, provincial, and race- based politics only service to further divide the country. General voter community must contest to get seats in parliament just like the rest of everyone else. As they say- you have to be in to win. Go for it.
There should be separate seats allocatted in parliament for the main ethnic minority groups.
There should also be separate constituencies geographically based. The national constituency idea promoted by the 2013 Constitution has failed us.
How did the 2013 Constitution fail us, for me it promoted a noble idea of equal citizenship but also people conveniently forget it safeguards the paramountcy of itaukei ownership of their land from the preamble to clauses in the supreme law of the land. BUT most of my fellow itaukeis are easily fooled by the selfish doomsayers like Tabuya, SLR, etc that the 2013 Constitution is against the Itaukei. But hey let us go around the Tanoa do a few useless claps and taki a few bowls of grog and eat artificially sweeten food as chaser which is a major contributor to the NCD crisis which is leading to 100 amputations a day which is demanding alot from our already overstretched healthcare system.
Wacol inmate is a total idiot let’s enjoy reading his comments purely for entertainment purposes..what a dolt.
Stop your bullshit and do your homework. The 2014 general election saw a turnout of 84.6%
Now we wait and see if the NFP has any spine!
I am certain that the leader of NFP and alleged economic expert (drip under pressure) will avoid trying to tell us how much this latest expansion of the most bloated Ministry ever seen in Fiji is costing the increasing poor Fiji taxpayer.
As someone has already pointed out Fiji with a population of around a Million has a cabinet of 36 whilst Australia with 26 Million has a cabinet of 23!
As for changing the Constitution Rabuka will need more than the odd 30 pieces of silver to achieve that and even if he were to secure enough whores to do it in Parliament he still has to get 75% of the vote at a referendum of the people and that will require more than 30 pieces of silver!
The cost of Government has increased, not only in terms of MPs, Ministers and Assistant Ministers but also the number of Civil Servants but also in the cost of vehicles, phones, IT and office space, etc. All of that has to be paid for by the taxpayer!
At the same time this Governments investment in Infrastructure has declined in real terms and the people are starting to see that in failing systems and basic services.
Will the people vote for a Government who has increased the cost burden on them, given themselves increased salaries and let services and infrastructure decay so they can change the Constitution, I don’t think so!
Lets face it, the obtaining of the 75% of MP vote exercise and 75% of registered voters was inserted by the Taliban designers of the 2013 Constitution to deter any possible changes.
This ruse is normal for those who seize power by a coup – go look at the history of coups in west Africa, the coup leaders there did the same.
We are now locked in a hopeless situation. Either we do it :
(1) the way Rabuka has chosen by bribing the Opposition and getting them onside to get the numbers (the legal way);
(2) get a Supreme ruling declaring the Constitution ‘void’ (another legal way)
(3) change it via a revolution by the Taukei Liberationists ala 2000
Take your pick
@Willie- no questions, you must be a willy! lol
Dream on with the rest of your dumb flippant ideas. Dreams are free.
Your dimwitted whataboutism about African coups does not mean our country should set the bar so low. Take a look at those African countries-and name one that has become a developed into a successful modern forwarding looking first world.democratic nation?
Many countries in the African continent have oil, diamonds, gold, copper, magnificent animals and tourism sights, you name it, and yet most live in abject poverty because of corrupt and thieving leaders. Many are in perpetual civil wars.
If that is all you can think of as your vision for Fiji, it’s not any wonder we are all stuck in this quagmire.
Is that what we should want to emulate? Are you that stupid or were you born like that?
Everyone wants a better future for themselves and their children and grandchildren. Here you are espousing living in in sh1t is best way forward.
People are sick and tired of dumb people stuck on racism and threatening violence.
Eventually there will be push back because people have suffered a long time because of bullies like you. Sadly, hate is learnt. Don’t teach your children to hate as you do.
Yet you must go to church Sunday with vulagi bible in hand and pretend worship a vulagi religion.
You threaten violence like a typical native bully short on capacity to think your way through tough issues.
Liberation from what? In year 2000 it was the itaukei that came this close to civil war.
Don’t think willy nilly Willy. Careful what you wish for.
This whole thing is about iTaukei arrogance. It must have to do with the Christian teaching for the Israelites living in Fiji who have a very close history with the people of Israel. I did not say that, they are saying that. Just switch on the local TV Evangalists shouting on the local TV.
But back to the arrogance – this will be their undoing in the not too distant future. Just wait for the incompetence and embarassment that the newly appointed prostitutes will cause the PM. Won’t have to wait that long.
Not just Fiji. Some groups in the Philippines are also claiming to be a lost tribe of Israel.
Same too in Ethiopia and in other Christian countries where they worship the living God of Israel; not some idol of an elephant , monkey or a multi-headed snake as worshipped by the uncircumcised.
The circumcised ran with the tail between their legs as soon as war broke out. Unfortunately foreskin doesn’t guarantee bravery. Lost tribe my bottom .
Ah, the typical iTaukei obsession with the circumcision status emerges. I’m guessing you’re also a male, in your 40s and secretly surf videos of ana1 prodding in your spare time. Which leads on to you quite likely being a product of either RKS, QVS or similar iTaukei boarding school.
How am I doing so far?
@anon, what is this infatuation of Christians in Fiji with the genitals of Hindus? Does being uncircumcised make Hindis less of a human being?
Humanity is the first religion, try and practice that first, before harping on about lost tribes of Israel.
No wonder Fiji is in this state…the level of self entitlement, self loathing, and self righteousness on display by the lost tribe is deplorable.
Perhaps concentrate on making the country better for the future generations.
The drama in Africa never fades away. What? You think Fiji is not Africa. Think again. Look carefully. Doesn’t it look familiar? Politicking, rape, murder, robberies, broken infrastructure, terrible hospitals, scams, poverty, etc . It is not a euro country.
Can’t run a BBQ stall but want to run the country.
Timoci grew in a tin and timber house.
Years later, he demolishes the old house and builds a concrete one for the family but his old man doesn’t like it ( too fond of the tin and timber house).
Few more years on and Timoci wants to renovate and extend the house but his father wants to demolish the concrete house and build a tin and timber one instead (just like what he had before).
This is what Rabuka wants to do with the constitution and all idiots are happily agreeing.
Get ready for a new constitution in Fiji. For Fijians. Excluding every other ethnic group.
I’ve said this before: non Fijians need to get their kids out now. Let the Fijians run the country how they want. Once Fiji becomes the Nigeria of the Pacific, they will go begging cap in hand, which they’re used to doing.
Handouts are what they live on.
Changing the Constitution will not achieve anything for anybody let alone the indigenous Fijians. In fact, a changed Constitution removing equal rights will be far worse for the Itaukeis.
It will legislate and further enforce our sense of self-entitlement and handout mentality which will only bring about laziness leading to more poverty, crime and poor health. Not to mention the effect on government of poor economic conditions as bulk of the population do not want to be productive. But just want to consume.
Let us learn to work hard to achieve what we want. Teach the ethics of hard work. Prioritize education and health and teach your children values. Cut down on extravagance on vanua and lotu soqos.
Who are we going to blame when the last of the “vulagis” leave our shores?
We are going to be like Nigeria. Where everyone is trying to con each other. Yes, indigenous Fijians conning other indigenous Fijians. It’s already happening.
The sheer incompetency of this government says everything anyone needs to know about Fiji.
Population of less than a million and 36 government ministers?
Reminds me of the old joke….how many sparkies does it take to change a light bulb?
“God spoke to Rabuka” and told him to use the poor to get votes with the promise of change. He surely has changed it but to something worse and now he will make the people suffer by using their tax dollars to pay these ministers.
The iTaukei will suffer the most here because they don’t understand what politics is and how politicians do everything for their pockets. There is no way Fiji has enough funds to repair the roads ],water supply ,hospitals and pay these losers as well.
If Rabuka was mentally ok he would not worry about wasting all this money to change the constitution but it is a popularity contest by brain washing people. In the end they will survive by eating the constitution .
Fiji is on Fire!!!
The very change people wanted has set Fiji on fire!!
Good to see that Premila Kumar has said it as it is:

Very recently I have noticed a significant improvement in the Fiji media’s willingness to ask tough questions and criticise the government, including the press conference with the PM and new Ministers yesterday and the print media today.
No doubt they read your scathing rebuke on their performance, and, despise you as many of them likely do, and though they would be loathe to admit it, that was the wake up call they needed. And while I absolutely am against the path Rabuka and his government are taking us down as a nation, it was nice to see a PM field questions directly from the media in a press conference, though off course he deflected, and didn’t answer many of them. Typical of a politician.
It is true that the media were intimidated, threatened and abused during the last government’s reign, as they also were during the Rabuka coup that started it all, and likely affects the quality of reporting, even two years later. It is also true that the media became significantly partisan and biased at times in our history, including Chaudhry’s short time as PM, the Bainimarama years, and yes, the last two years of this Coalition Government.
Let’s hope the Fiji media only gets better at doing their jobs without fear or favour from here, and that they stay away from propaganda pieces like the Wilson SODELPA one highlighted previously. With it now clear that Rabuka’s main goal is to amend the Constitution, with basic needs of the people secondary, the media will have a critical role in asking the questions we the people want to know the answers to. Because the idea being projected by Rabuka and co is that the Constitution is the root of all our problems, which is false, but there are many, particularly indigenous Fijians, that believe him.
Amending the Constitution will not make the common person’s life any better when this government cannot even get the basics right. Unfortunately, when it comes to the ethno-nationalist agenda, including removing common and equal citizenry, I doubt we will see the diminishing of media bias, particularly from some senior journalists with influence.
Whatever Rabuka achieves in his life, he remains a minnow in a pond compared with his mentor, Donald Trump.

Well, at least one of the new ministers has started earning his $100/hr salary.
Immigration minister Naupoto has made a major discovery whilst visiting the passport office. A broken down photocopier is the cause of the backlog of passports.
You see Fiji, Rabuka knew who to send into the office to find out what was causing the passport crisis.
Wonder what the administration staff were looking for?
Naupoto has rescued the passport office. Yay, and he’s actually paid to do it, $200,000.00 a year plus perks. That’s an expensive copier tech, but hey, that’s how rich Fiji is. Se muri tiko o Dubai. 😂😂😂😂😂
The people of Fiji needs to know what are the 33 changes the GCC wants to see in the 2013 Constitution. This will determine how they will vote if the government is stupid enough to go ahead with a referendum.
Biman Prasad says there is money to pay for the appointment of additional ministers and assistant ministers. Really? The people can judge him again the kind of a Finance Minister he is? He can’t prioritize, and he has a national development plan, which he launched with great pomp and show not too long ago remains unfunded. That plan is his manifesto for 2026 election and something to fool the public again.
What about the flood victims, health care, and deteriorating infrastructure, to name a few? Does he have money to do these urgent things?.
The press releases by Nilesh and Premila Kumar say a lot about the reshuffle.
The fact is Biman can’t say no to Rabuka’s demands for money, whether it makes sense or not. If he refuses, he will be fired. Rabuka doesn’t care what happens to the people and the country.
Hear me out…..
Rabuka isn’t as senile as we all believe. Each move he’s made since 2022 has been calculated to get to this point.
Surely it’s not just me who has noticed a huge scandal and drama right before a big move like this.
Just a thought….
