Christopher Pryde goes on the offensive, telling Radio New Zealand that he will fight hard against the government’s continuing efforts to remove him as the nation’s chief prosecutor.
The DPP has engaged lawyers to seek a judicial review of the President’s decision to suspend his salary and to sue the Fiji Sun for falsely reporting that he has repeatedly refused to explain his absence from Fiji when he has issued two formal statements outlining the precise position.
It is a significant escalation in the stand-off between the DPP and the Coalition – the first time that Christopher Pryde has given his account in the first person.

No surprises here.
He was investigated and cleared by a panel of judges previously.
Anything now is just a witch hunt and attempts to keep him away from resuming his duties instigated by people with conflict of interest.
We are getting tired of this.
Next.
The problem with moving on is that an injustice is allowed to stand and the government gets away with unlawful conduct. This is becoming a recurring pattern under the Coalition and the DPP is doing us all a service by drawing a line in the sand.
Not for the first time, the President and Chief Justice have breached the Constitution. The rule of law is under direct threat and they must be brought to account. And it’s to Christopher Pryde’s credit that he is willing to take a stand.
GD
My comment above was not suggesting that we move on away from the injustices that Mr. Pryde has suffered.
I am all for Mr. Pryde going back to Fiji to resume his duties and admire him for standing up to his bullies (Including but not limited to) Pres, CJ, PM, the lames that currently man the ODPP and the recently sacked Head of FICAC.
Agreed, the constitution and a lot of principles of accountability and good governance has been breached. Sadly no one has been pulled up for these.
My comment was directed at these bullies. We are sick of what they are doing and to come up with something better than this relentless and pointless pursuing of Mr. Pryde
GD. Unfortunately this farce by this corrupt govt and judiciary will continue. This coming week the corrupt clown temo will refuse aiyazs application to travel abroad for urgent medical treatment will be rejected again. The orders from rabaku to temo are firmly to “do anything and everything to persecute him and incarcerate him even if it means not allowing him life saving medical treatment.”
As I’ve said before this oppression, chaos and corruption will continue as long as rabaku and his cronies like Temo are still alive. They need to die quickly for fiji to be released from this quagmire of deceit and corruption. There is no other way for fiji.
Until then we are as a nation in free fall. Racism is out of control, robberies and bullying of indo fijians are happening so much that majority of the victims dont even bother to report about their oppression to the corrupt, racist and incompetent police anymore.
Just yesterday a hard working fruit seller told me that itaukei found men now just walk up to his stall and casually walk away with his fruit and that one car actually stopped at his stall and pretended to buy fruit but instead grabbed the vendors phone and took off in their vehicle. He didn’t report these and other crimes cos he says the police won’t do anything. Just take a walk around the suva market and talk to the indo fijian vendors there about the daily harass and intimidation they have to endure. You won’t hear about these stories in the mainstream jelly fish media and we all know why we won’t.
Pryde’s case won’t go anywhere. The stupid bugger should have sanctioned sexual harassment charges against Biman when there was plenty of evidence for him to do so, especially when the Japanese lady’s complaint against the lecherous leech was corroborated by her friend who saw the whole disgusting incident. Biman once charged would have resulted in the coalition losing the election and rabuka becoming political history once again and the whole fiji being spared the mess we all arecin now. Im sure Chris pryde has been kicking himself very hard for some time now.
In the meantime we can only be happy that the RNZ story has referred to samisoni pareti as a “her”. The silly samisoni who really is a closet “her” in the meantime chucked a fit in the his ministry of information office when he heard loopy Lynda was going to be his new boss minister. According to ministry sources he flew into rage and started swearing at everyone and actually emptied out his office. So much for the farcical “fijian unity” bullshit.
In the meantime the much touted “investigation into Walesi” is now dead and buried. Nothing illegal found cos there wasn’t any wrong doing in the first place. Manoa the goofy monkey is too embarrassed to publicly announce this and the incompetent and compromised fijian media of course won’t ask him about the status of the investigation.
Anyway old chap I hope next time you and pryde get together for a wine or two that you first take turns into slapping each other really hard, several times, for being partly responsible for the major f**k up of Fiji.
When I was there, it was a picture of stability compared with what is happening now. But if you want to include me in your finger pointing, be my guest. Collective trauma has set in and everyone is looking for scapegoats. All I can say is keep taking the tablets.
Christopher Pryde has been the subject of an orchestrated campaign by the current Government, aided and abetted by the corrupt CJ and his cabal of pet appointments at the ODPP and FICAC.
Its bases is RACISM as he is NOT Fijian, plain and simple. This Government have a clearly seen campaign of hunting out people of positions like CP holds. There are more than enough examples of that in the Civil Service and the Judiciary already. Their replacements being cronies or supporters of the PAP.
I wish Christopher every success in his quest for justice!
Will the NZ authorities accede to the apparent extradition request made by Fijian authorities?
I suspect an ex gratia payment will eventually made by the Fijian govt to get rid of this mess that the Govt has created and Mr Pryde can then get on with his life.
“Will the NZ authorities accede to the apparent extradition request made by Fijian authorities?”
If they can stop laughing.
We are witnessing state capture in Fiji through buying media loyalty and circumventing and commandeering of the judiciary to annul elections and allow this government to remain in power for 3 more years.
It’s a calculated move. Biman Prasad is the main orchestrator and ring leader as he has the most to lose if there are elections. He and his party do not stand a chance so he’s trying nefarious means to somehow retain power.
Biman’s footprint is behind the non issuance of permit to meet to the Sanatanis. The police commissioner quickly came to his senses and reversed the decision but not before unnecessary headache and bad press for the government because of Biman’s personal agenda. He is also working behind the scenes to derail Pryde because someone like Pryde is a risk.
PM Rabuka is either sleeping or senile the way he’s allowing his deputy PM to run amok. Hopefully the military is more alert and up to the job.
Let’s see..he lost his job for talking to Khaiyum. A proper legal process clears him. Then a corrupt political cabal which comprises of lawyers comes up with trumped up excuses to prevent him from resuming his position for fear that he may do his job according to LAW. Is there any hope that separation of powers will return to Fiji?
And this from our PM in the Fiji Times, the man is deluded, and unfit for office ! How can anyone believe anything he says.
“I fully agree with Minister Naivalurua’s statement that there is no place for unethical behaviour in our institutions, whether within the Fiji Police Force or any other branch of the public service,” said Mr Rabuka
The current Rabuka & Co accused Aiyaz Kaiyum and his cronies of thuggery. LOOK who is doing exactly the same now.
