# WITH RICHARD NAIDU AND THE NFP, THE JOKE IS ON US

Posted on November 7, 2024 15 Comments

The lawyer and NFP stalwart, Richard Naidu, isn't happy with Donald Trump's election victory and asks whether the American people are joking. Yet the Fijian people are equally entitled to ask Naidu whether he and his colleagues in the NFP are joking when they promised better standards of governance yet have fallen so woefully short of the … [Read more...] about # WITH RICHARD NAIDU AND THE NFP, THE JOKE IS ON US

# THE RATS COME WITH THE TERRITORY. IN PRISON AND POLITICS

Posted on November 6, 2024 24 Comments

Our "Afro-Fijian" Minister for Justice has given short shrift to the complaint by Mohammed Saneem - the former elections supervisor - of inhumane treatment while being held on remand, including rats running over him in a police cell. The following is the astonishing response from the human rodent, Siromi Turaga, to Saneem's … [Read more...] about # THE RATS COME WITH THE TERRITORY. IN PRISON AND POLITICS

# THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION PROCESS BEGINS WITH A BIG LIE

Posted on November 5, 2024 28 Comments

The government's truth and reconciliation process is floundering even before it begins as today's Fiji Sun confirms the worst fears of those who are sceptical about Sitiveni Rabuka's own commitment to the truth and whether he can be trusted to fully account for his own role in the events of 1987 and 2000. It transpires that the Prime Minister … [Read more...] about # THE TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION PROCESS BEGINS WITH A BIG LIE

# WHY ARE INDO-FIJIANS LEAVING? IT ISN’T ROCKET SCIENCE

Posted on November 4, 2024 31 Comments

Charan Jeath Singh has been warning privately for some time that Fiji is steadily being "depopulated" by the exodus of skilled workers and faces a crisis as the tax base needed to pay for everything steadily shrinks. Now the multi-millionaire Minister for Multi-Ethnic Affairs has gone public with those concerns, speaking of a "troubling decline" in … [Read more...] about # WHY ARE INDO-FIJIANS LEAVING? # HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM MISS TRICK OR TREAT AND DRACULA

Posted on November 1, 2024 22 Comments

Like many Fijians, I am still struggling to come to terms with why on earth the Assistant Minister for Women and Children would pose with a misogynist who compared a female predecessor as speaker of the parliament to anal sex and called her retarded and stands accused of defiling and impregnating a 15 year old girl. Sashi Kiran has followed her … [Read more...] about # HAPPY HALLOWEEN FROM MISS TRICK OR TREAT AND DRACULA

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
