We said it was a foregone conclusion and so it has proved to be – proof conclusive that justice has taken second place to a determination by the corrupt “new order” to punish the former attorney general even if it means putting his life at risk.
The opinions of three state medical officers – one an ophthalmologist – have taken preference over six cardiac experts in the private sector who advised the court that Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum needs urgent treatment overseas (see our previous story with their actual reports on his condition). One of these state officers changed her opinion in the space of three months in clear evidence of a stitch-up.
It is an astonishing violation of proper practice and evidence that the judicial system in Fiji has completely broken down under a Chief Justice in Salesi Temo who already stands accused by the Supreme Court Commission of Inquiry of perjury and obstructing and perverting the course of justice over the Malimali affair and has again shown himself unfit for public office.

Here’s where the Chief Justice suggested that Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum could be treated in Fiji.
Here’s what the specialists at Heart International said.

But they have been ignored and doctors on the state payroll – one of whom agreed back in June that Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum needed treatment that wasn’t available in Fiji – have prevailed.
So there’s something very rotten in the Ministry of Health as well as in the Judiciary under the corrupt Salesi Temo.
A new dark age in Fiji in which Big Brother has your life in its hands and will have blood on its hands if, God forbid, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum winds up incapacitated or dead.
Looks like there was lots of sun inside the court house as I see lawyer with very dark sunglasses.
But sun didn’t shine on poor Aiyaz.
Isa Khaiyum,
After 3rd October he will be in handcuffs and then wear that bright orange uniform.
System works like that brother, can’t help you here.
Time goes fast though.
Couple of years will just fly.
I heard one can apply to study from inside.
There are some success story .
Don’t worry, be happy .
And the so called “Christians” are rejoicing everywhere including on social media.
I am embarrassed to be an iTaukei and a Christian.
These are the same people come Sunday their necktie will be so tight almost strangling them.
As former Peruvian dictator Oscar Benavidez once said, ” For my enemies the Law, For my friends everything.
There are some brilliant itaukei but most are outside Fiji. The itaukei through nepotism and cronyism are occupying high positions in Fiji that they are not qualified for. We have seen this in DPP and now Health. I am sure other public sector are facing similar mediocre itaukei management. From personal experience, the TSLS itaukei staff could not explain why a student with eight A grades achieved in a year could not qualify for a scholarship in an identified area of priority in their policy and at an institution that accepted the student and was a preferred institution listed in the policy.
I am not sure whether there is collective embarrassment in itaukei population that a few are besmerching their intelligence worldwide.
In words a judge can understand. THIS PERSON NEEDS ATTENTION BY A DOCTOR AND A PROCEDURE THAT IS NOT A AVAILABLE IN FIJI. IF HE DOES NOT RECEIVE THIS HE WILL POSSIBLY DIE.
if I had a private plane i would fly him to a place to get what he needs. To hell with the corrupt bastard who is trying to kill him. Shame on you TEMO!!!!
Rubbish !
Tell us more precisely what is his medical problem that cannot be fixed in Fiji?
He is trying to side step his forthcoming court case. Any fool with half a brain can see that
Are you too stupid to read the reports? What the hell is wrong with you? Thick as pig shit, that’s what. Any fool with half a brain can see that.
Where is the presumption of innocence until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt?
Reminds one of the Nuremberg trials. Pronounce every German soldier guilty and put them to the firing squads.
Looks like it’s all a farce coming from ASK. Definitely trying to escape the trial , While I don’t want to see him suffer if his case is genuine but he deserves what he gets as he made a lot of lives miserable for people during his 16 years of rule by fear and one men rule.
I have no sympathy for him.
Dumb lamusona cowards who cannot work out whether they are Christians or Jews are all laughing. Third World kaila mentality. It is embarrassing but the lamusonas are oblivious
I saw pictures on Fiji village of families and friends of ASK sitting outside court on the bench.
These people were once the “elites” of Fiji.
They were similarly sitting in front seat of any events or were in front of stage.
I remember myself and my son were at a children’s event .
I couldn’t get a glimpse as we were right at the back.
We tried every possible way to have a glimpse of the stage.
I lifted my 4 year old son on my shoulders for 3 hours.
We just couldn’t afford front seat.
Today these people are sitting on a similar bench but with a different theme.
Nothing Christianity here ,just what I am seeing from past to present.
Always be down to earth , never know when things can fall apart.
Same as late Qarase and Mrs Leba who used to sit outside court room with families and hoping for a favorable outcome.
Punishment was all set for late Mr Qarase for a conviction and killed his chances to stand election.
Finally Qarase lost his life after picking up sickness from inside prison wall.
Well lets hope AK can avoid prison.
Let’s not forget Fiji National Bank
Foregone judgements and no prizes for guessing what the trial outcome will be. Sorry AG. Prepare for the inevitable.
What we are witnessing in Fiji today is the complete erosion of the rule of law. Bail hearings for Aiyaz or any other political opponent of the Coalition Government are nothing more than a scripted performance — the verdict is decided before a single argument is heard. Where are a person’s human rights?
Under the corrupt and compromised leadership of the rogue Chief Justice, paired with an unqualified and incompetent Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, the justice system has been transformed into a blunt instrument of political persecution.
This is not due process; this is collusion at the highest levels of power.
When the courts themselves become enforcers of political will, and when the DPP’s office acts not as a guardian of justice but as a weapon of the ruling elite, the question every Fijian must ask is: where do citizens go to seek justice from these corrupt people and systems?
In a nation where the judiciary has been captured, the Constitution ignored, and the government of Sitiveni Rabuka shields itself from accountability, the very foundations of democracy are being ripped apart — and the people are left with no recourse but to rise and demand their rights.
How can a corrupt Chief Justice who have been asked by COI to be suspended can give verdict on others? Fiji is a joke. This man is a joke. In fact I think this man has more power than the Military Commander or Commissioner of Police or the Prime Minister. His actions should be reported to overseas countries as he is out to take revenge on FijiFirst supporters.
It is a forgone conclusion that he will declare 2023 constitution illegal and 1997 constitution is still relevant.
He will jail ASK and Saneem in September.
Bullying, vindictiveness and undue pressure has already resulted in death from heart attacks of the DPP David Tonganivalu and former Chief Justice Kamal Kumar.
They are probably hoping the same happens again , no compassion. If it happened to Temu or Mr Gold Rolex they would be off like a shot overseas for the best possible private health care.
It pains me to say this. You reap what you sow. I hope every day ASK and Baini attend court, they are reminded of necessity of separation of powers and independence of arms of Government-something they also failed. This mob have simply taken things to another level.
Well what independence was not exercised by the former govt?
1.)Soldiers were jailed by the courts after they beat to death a young criminal thug in Votualevu despite pressure from Bainimarama on the courts for them to be released.( These was a serious misstep by Bainimarama as he started to lose support in the ranks when he could not protect those who put him to power).
2.)Vasu and Kean were jailed by the courts for corruption and manslaughter despite close support and confidants of Bainimarama. These led to the development of the Yellow Ribbon Campaign.
3.) That SG that was sacked, Bainimarama was right in asking for his resignation as he did not do a good job in representing the state who his employer. The court was not pressured but the Govt lawyer who was the SG was supposed to do it’s utmost best to safeguard the legal interests of the state. That SGs failed in his job and was asked to resign by Bainimarama, simple as that. Don’t do a good job, flock off.
The court and judiciary was impartial in its ruling as the state had huge interests invested in that case but they lost which made Bainimarama furious and demanded the then SG to resign
4.) The current Government had no interests in maintaining the independence of the government machinery.
I read his ruling on the bail application today. For Gods sake, if the doctors reports are not clear enough for the so called judge to grant AK bail, then a neutral and reasonable person will give the benefit of doubt and grant the bail since it is a life or death situation. But this so called judge seems like having a sinister motive. No place on this earth for such cruel human beings.
Am I surprised? Not one bit!
ASK’s application was and will never be granted by the CJ TEmo.
He, by his actions in relation to ASK and other members of the former Government has demonstrated his intent to personally hear cases involving them and ensure they end up in gaol. Nothing is more certain in my view.
No amount of evidence will convince him otherwise!
What’s a eye doctor giving an opinion on heart issues?
This govt have gone bananas.
Well it is a banana republic. Well the Minister of Health is a son of the Pedo President.
The coward and crooked CJ and those coward imbeciles in the ODPP have all forgotten about independence and the rule of law. These are basic concepts in law.
I believe the crooked CJ would be very popular in Fiji at the moment. I reckon if he challenges the PM he would be a shoo-in to be the next PM. In Fiji nowadays, the bigger the crook and racist you are the more suitable you are to be appointed to high office.
Anyone want to dispute that?
I read comments on Facebook where people say Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum looks well .
People can look well because medicines make them look better than what they are or fluid retention can make a person have the appearance of fullness but really it’s the illness.
The best I ever saw my cousin with a heart condition was 48hrs before he died , he was the picture of health on the outside .
If doctors say a person needs a specific treatment denying that request is not right , no matter what one’s view is of the accused .
The Heart International ‘Conclusion’ is written in basic language that could not be clearer.
My wife recently had heart issues following a bypass surgery on a 90% blocked artery ( called the widow maker) or widower maker in my case and was diagnosed with a severe case of irregular heart palpitations. She saw both of the Doctors mentioned, at Heart International in Nadi and was told that she had to go to NZ to get the problem fixed as there was no Doctors and specalists and equipment available in Fiji to correctly locate and fix the problem that she had. On arrival in Christchurch she was fitted with the Holter device, as mentioned in the docters report for the former AG, a recording instrument with a button to press when feeling any unusual episodes. She had this on with leads fitted to her chest, for 24 hours, in her case.
This was removed the following day and analysed by an expert, and the fix is worked out as to exactly where in the heart the ablation, which is the exact point that the cauterisation, must take place to put the heart back into the correct rhythm and remove the risk of a fatal heart attack.
This is a scary time when the only thing you can rely on is the experience that the specialists have in correctly diagnosing and repairing the heart.
I can only sympathise with the wife of this unfortunate man as to the helplessness that one feels when this happens to a loved one. It is unconscionable for someone who has no medical experience to deny a fellow human being the chance to save his life, for himself and his family. Especially when they have compelling evidence put before them and choose not to believe it.
Only in Fiji.
An ophthalmologist can act like a cardiologist.
And not a smart ophthalmologist either.
Luisa, you thick head.
You have run CWM to the ground.
Did nothing useful at the Ministry of Health either.
At this stage even a Vet can be a cardiologist in Fiji.
Bloody doomed country.
Is that the government eye doctor who gave testimony on heart issues?
What a joke!!
Is that same eye doctor who also ran Lautoka Hospital to the ground which led to it being privatised.
What’s her position in government to give testimony in court?
Is she aiming for higher paying job?
The fact of the matter is , Ayiaz doesn’t look sick.
There is no signs showing he had a stroke and neither showing signs of severe blocked arteries or heart problems.
Any person having all those symptoms would be bed ridden or struggle to walk around.
Climbing stairs with blocked arteries or severe heart issues are forbidden, Patients would struggle to breathe and could cause major issues or death.
Some 4 weeks now and not sure what treatment he has received so far from all those specialists who diagnosed him in Lautoka.
His more likely having panic attacks, causing anxiety and hallucination.
Anyway, if Aiyaz saying his sick, then Fiji needs to believe him.
That’s what he did ,when he was in full control and power for 16 years.
“Listen and believe me ,even if I am wrong ”
Get well my dear friend if you are really sick.
“You can run but can’t hide “as late Bob Marley said.
Another armchair medical expert. You don’t look stupid only because I can’t see you. But believe me, that diagnosis is in no doubt.
GD
I had the same sickness as what ASK is going through.
That’s the reason I know.
I am telling you through experience, not just heresay.
I was diagnosed in 2019 and had surgery in 2020.
All in local hospitals.
Yes,risk was there but we do have some good doctors in Fiji.
Those that putting wild opinions know nothing except get information from here and there.
Thanks to the search engine Mr Google.
Multiple cardiologists and specialists with specialised equipments have gave their reports on the medical conditions of ASK.
Your assumptions are incorrect and stupid.
Any true expert can indicate that his Kidney’s are giving up on him causing issues for his cardiovascular health. Within few weeks Aiyaz has gained water retention weight and his whole body looks bulky due to medicine and deteriorating Kidney.
Temo is not a health expert and should have allowed him to travel together with his hand picked bullies to Singapore to monitor Aiyaz.
But no why would he? He just wants to kill him altogether.
If this isn’t Dicatorship then what is? Is this even democracy anymore? They wanted to move away from dictatorship but yet they have alot of blood on their hands now.
Time to vote these hooligans out!
Do you think these people will let it go down to an election?
No, they know they will receive a severe scrubbing on the election day.
Feeding chickens in a confined place grows these birds in 10 to 12 weeks ,ready to be slaughtered.
Sleeping in a confined room with VIP service and without movement will increase humans body weight.
Didn’t know Fiji has so many health specialists around .
