# WE KNOW ELECTION PANIC IS TAKING HOLD WHEN THE FINANCE MINISTER SAYS “VOTE FOR US AND WE CAN BE JUST LIKE OVERSEAS”. WE’VE SEEN IT ALL BEFORE

Posted on October 11, 2025 16 Comments

What do Biman Prasad and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum have in common? A great deal of lasulasu-jhoot when they hold out the prospect of Fiji joining the first world if only voters are smart enough to keep them in office.

You’ll remember how we all laughed and laughed when Aiyaz said before the last election that Fiji could be “better than Australia and New Zealand” if we gave FijiFirst two more terms. Well, now Biman is making a similar absurd claim – that we will have first world levels of income by 2050.

Look up in the sky. Is it a bird, is it a plane, is it Superman? No it’s a pig flying over Suva on its way to Biman’s office in Kadavu House.

Professor Lasulasu-Jhoot also trumpets the claim that there are $6.2-billion dollars in development projects in the pipeline as the election approaches. Now precisely what are they? The Finance Minister doesn’t say, apart from the money already announced by Australia to assist with the rebuilding of the CWM Hospital and other infrastructure.

Would it be too much for the Professor to provide the media with a complete list of these projects? Because isn’t it strange that they are all being announced almost three years into the Coalition’s term and with the election bearing down on us amid claims by its opponents that it has precious little to show for its time in office.

First a reminder of what Aiyaz promised before the last election:

——————–

But even if we don’t have consistency in policies, we certainly have consistency in the wild claims made by our politicians when they are in election mode.

Here’s what Baimaan is saying when the minimum wage in Fiji is currently $5 an hour. He’s asking us to believe that in 25 years, Fijian workers won’t have to go overseas for higher paid jobs because they’ll be available right here.

———————

“Some people think it’s pie in the sky”, says Biman. No, it’s not a pie. It’s actually another one of those airborne vuaka.

Professor Wishful Thinking and his kete full of projects

Yes, we’ve seen it all before.

# FIJI’S HEALTH SYSTEM WILL BE JUST LIKE OVERSEAS IN 4-7 YEARS. SOUND FAMILIAR?

  1. Baiman cheap imitation of Khaiyum says

    October 11, 2025 at 2:42 pm

Baiman is similar to Khaiyum in more ways than he’d care to admit. His budgets, for example, are a continuation of the Khaiyum budgets.

His major election promise was reduce debt and deficit. But he continues run deficits and increase debt. At least Khaiyum was frank about his budgets and there were major capital and infrastructure developments.

Baiman on the other hand lied his way into power. He promised fiscal responsibility but to use his own phrase he’s using taxpayers money like a drunk in a nightclub. Using it like a personal piggy bank to line the pockets of his friends in dubious looking circumstances- like Ganesh Chand and the Australian based professor Paresh Narayan.

This guy has no originality whatsoever in his budget. He is copying Khaiyum and carrying his legacy. A cheap and poor imitation of Khaiyum, A liar and betrayer who is totally undeserving of the ministerial position.

Like Khaiyum he must be investigated as there is a lot of stench associated with his finance portfolio.

It’s amazing how brazen this cronyism is, I’ve heard donors talking about it with reference to the Professor. I’m not sure he fully understands his role and what people talk about and how quickly saying: “give a contract to my mate” – gets around among the donor groups.

The difference with Aiyaz is that people still say he was good internationally whereas this guy is a bit of a joke. Having your lawyer on speed dial is never a good look, and when that lawyer doesn’t understand what a conflict of interest looks like, the digging just continues. Hopeless.

Let’s not forget this same bastard has promised world class medical services in 7 years.

Meanwhile we have medicine shortages, fked-up hospitals, CWM elevators, 50-year old equipments, operating theaters in state of disrepair, HIV crisis, drug crisis, teenage pregnancy crisis-all happening with zero government remedial actions.

    6.2 billion BS!

This book economist and incompetent buffoon is not fit to lead the country as a Finance Minister nor does he represent the views of the majority of ethnic Indian voters. Even those who voted for this SWINE no longer support him. BAAIMAN you and your generations to come will have the curse of those you betrayed. You will go down in history as the betrayer!!!

Baiman is like baggase. A waste bi product of crushed cane. He has lit the fires of hatred towards the indo fijian community and screams like a banshee when he is called out. In fact entire NFP are like him. He should not be called lamb chops. He is an on sheep thus should be knighted as old mutton chops.

If anyone had any illusions about the ‘capability’ of the “professor” of economics, one does not have to go far, just read his response to Inia Seruiratu on the declining numbers of Indo Fijians. He made the bizarre and laughable claim that this is due to the reduced fertility of this ethnic group, no analysis or evidence to back this up. A 101 student of economics/statistics should do a back of envelope calculation to show that this is such a wild and outrageous claim. The professor should at least have the intelligence not to make a fool of himself.

Perhaps he is deceived by the Australian generosity in giving blank cheques, just to keep China at bay. Maybe he thinks the billions of loans will be written off by the investment banks.

I am sure the other developing countries will be looking forward to Fiji becoming a rich nation and becoming a donor…….lol. No need to beg for climate finance or for Israel to fund our Jerusalem Embassy or Rabuka’s junket to the Holy land.

Graham, Lynda appears to have slipped away from Grubsheet’s radar lately. Understandable due to the focus on JSC, ODPP etc. So high time to resurrect and re-shame her as 2026 nears.

Wonder who she’s liming with in Limestone Coast? Any other Cabinet member also Down Under? Or a Fijian ADF officer? New video release soon?

Don’t worry. There’s still a long way to go to election day. And I intend to do Lynda slowly. Though not in the manner she is used to.

Sadly cronyism is the hallmark and legacy of this lot – soon to find themselves in the dustbin of history. The only success is managing to tarnish all of their reputations.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
