There is always light and hope. That is what this Diwali is about for me.
Keep up the relentless advocacy everyone.
Thank you GD for Grubsheet and your dedication to hold those with negligence accountable.
Congratulations on creating this page as a forum that many Fijians read daily for true journalism.

(Ps: FICAC puts out 3 posts for Diwali on LinkedIn , 2 by Malicious Malimali telling people about good and evil. Not a single like on all posts. Fijians are definitely not fools anymore Malimali. The page forgot to advertise that its Commissioner is under investigation😂)

If anyone is looking to form a political party and needs ammunition to convince people to vote for them, use Grubsheet as your bible. Every misdeed of this digusting government is documented in detail on this site and any right thinking individual will vote for another party.

To those in Fiji who celebrate Diwali – enjoy it while it lasts because it may be removed as a public holiday soon, given the Rabuka government is hell bent on enforcing a Christian state. Don’t expect Biman the baiman, Sashi the crocodile tears useless minister or any other Indian politician to protest the move.

Vinaka Fiji! By removing the FFP, you have cut off your nose to spite your face.

My reply to Sashi Kiran’s message this Diwali.

Why the society is going through breakdowns of moral fabric ??

Well the moral fabric is very filthy in Fiji. Coup leader is the PM of Fiji . Who should be responsible for the rapes in 1987 coup.
A child rapist is now a head of state.
A financially corrupt man is Finance Minister.
Minister for women is now called Ms Brutal.
    And the list goes on.

The Fiji Parliament House should be made of mirrors so they all can look at themselves.

Meanwhile the only message Rabuka seems to have on Diwali is don’t swear on social media. He didn’t even try and fake it lol.

In fact Rabuka the evil bastard said with an grin that people shouldn’t swear on social media for 24 hours!!
Have a listen to his interview.
So essentially he says it’s ok to swear before and after Diwali at indo fijians.
The racism and bigotry against info fijians is now at an unprecedented level. There’s no fear now to publicly in loud voices telling indo fijians to go back to India cos they are landless and not wanted are etc.

The racism on social media is even worse…the racists emboldened by their racist snake leader aren’t even hiding their identities anymore. They know they can damn well be vile racists and no-one will do anything to them.
This is what the traitorous indo fijians who voted for biman and rabuka wanted. You bloody fools.

During Diwali when Hindus will be lighting lamps (diyas) on their driveways in Fiji, native Fijians will be coming and lighting cigarettes from those lamps. That’s the type of people native Fijians are.

    Happy Diwali to all Fijians.
I pay respects to Indo Fijians, past and present for your role in building Fiji.
Though we are in darkness, let light triumph in our hearts and hold fast to good over evil.

PM’s best wishes for Diwali, as a leader of government, is acknowledged.

But wishes don’t guarantee water in taps. On Diwali day, Hindus do prayers and virtually cook meals during the day for families, relatives, and friends who come through out the day and evening.

However, in Rabuka’s Fiji, some parts of Suva were without water. There are water cuts in places that never experienced any water cuts.

At least the PM could have ensured through his relevant minister that there shouldn’t be any interruptions to water supply on this religious day for the Hindus and, for that matter, on any religious day. Water interruptions have become too frequent under this government. At least WAF should have shown empathy and respect to this religious festival by ensuring uninterrupted water supply during the day.

Then we had Diwali message from Biman Prasad, who quotes Lord Rama’s teachings as guiding principles for the Coalition.

What an insult to Lord Rama’s principles. What are the Coalition government’s principles that resonate with Lord Rama’s principles? It’s a joke.

    He talks about unity
yet he blurbs that ” we enjoy unfettered freedom and rights restored by the election of Coalition government in late December 2022 and they will be respected and upheld by the Coalition government – just as Lord Rama practiced in Ayodhya after vanquishing evil”. What nonsense? This man goes to any length to justify his and his government’s failures.

A man who lies through his teeth and is loud mouthed, believes in favouratism, falsifies his declaration, escapes being charged through political interfetence, and lacks integrity is now resonating Lord Rama’s teachings to that of Coalition Government. It sounds like he is Lord Rama.

People are aware of what I am saying about this dishonest man. His lengthy message is full of political overtures. He is
preaching and promoting himself about what he and his government are and will be doing? How desperate can he be – promoting his political stuff on a religious festival day.

On the other hand, you have Diwali messages from MP Chaudhary and Inia Seruiratu, who are giving clear, short, and succinct messages of uniting people and equality.

NFP and it’s Coalition partners, including the G9 bloc, have people associated with Rabuka’s coup and people who have enjoyed their time with the previous government but have now switched sides and are appeasing Rabuka. These are opportunists who can’t be trusted.

Perhaps Shashi Kiran should work with such people and not make general comments like “Let’s commit to being better human beings.” Really ?

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
