# A FRESH SCANDAL ROCKS THE COALITION (UPDATED WED)

Posted on March 12, 2024 28 Comments

The AG accused of fraud

Hot on the heels of the drug and sex scandal that has consumed Lynda Tabuya and Aseri Radrodro comes a Fiji Police investigation into allegations of deception, fraud and false pretences against the Attorney General, Siromi Turaga.

They relate to his time as a lawyer in private practice after he was removed as a magistrate by the previous FijiFirst government. He is accused of facilitating bigamy through his handling of divorce proceedings involving a former soldier in the RFMF who has lodged a police complaint that the CID has confirmed is being investigated.

There were stories yesterday in the Fiji Sun ( see below) and Fiji Village but the saga is examined in forensic detail by the man who also first broke the Lynda Tabuya-Aseri Radrodro scandal – the Oxford-based veteran journalist and academic, Victor Lal, on his Fijileaks. ( also see below). It is a devastating expose that again establishes Victor Lal as the foremost news breaker in the Fijian media and from 16,000 kilometres away in Britain.

What will the government’s response be? On its record thus far, not a lot or nothing at all. Here’s how this is likely to play out. The police will complete their investigation and then send a brief to the illegal Acting DPP, John Rabuku, who was appointed by Siromi Turaga in breach of the Constitution because he has been found guilty of professional misconduct.

Rabuku will decide on the likelihood of securing a conviction and whether prosecuting the AG is in the public interest. What do you think he is going to do, Fiji?

The stench around the PAP and the Coalition in general just got a lot stronger.

That was the Fiji Sun yesterday. Now for Victor Lal’s forensic investigation:

Of course, the AG only targets the Fiji Sun. Nothing about Victor Lal and his much more comprehensive story because Victor is out of reach. Watch how they go for the Fiji Sun across a broad front for turning on the government.

Well there we go. One pressing issue (the Minister for extra martial affairs, drugs and alcohol) will only lead to a deeper rot in high office. One rotten potatoe poisons the lot. Let’s sit back and watch it all play out:
Mr Rabuka – you still have time to do the honorable thing: majority of the nation is waiting to see this woman expelled from the chambers of Parliament. The longer you leave it – the worse it will become for you and your Government

I think you will find that since the “vulagi” government was toppled in Dec 2022, the general perception is that this is Fiji, this is our land, we do as we wish, “vulagi” laws do not apply to us. And no vulagis are going to tell us what to do.
The same applies to government drivers, the civil service, the judiciary and elswhere.
So this little matter of getting a divorce is just a foreign matter which does not apply to many. Fiji has its own standards, the Third World kind and the standards are being set by the “blast from the past” and his cronies including the AG. The people of Fiji are truly blessed because God is with them, just like the Israelites.

Not to mention, rugby is one if the topics that vulagis are forbidden from discussing too. Clearly the iTaukei believe they fell off Noah’s ark into Fiji carrying a rugby ball!

Yes, I’ve seen the cringe-worthy, racist comments which are both shocking and embarrassing to read as an i-taukei, esp. when it comes from people (mostly guys) who’ve had an education and ought to know better.

It’s best not to support the sport financially (I wouldn’t even spent a dollar on that game). Let them play that damned sport as the overwhelming majority (both professionals & amateurs) will all go “koo-koo” in their middle age from all that head-butting and butt-butting. That’s a life-long liability that no woman in their right mind should take on.

Can someone please tell me where this man go his law degree from and how many years it took him, and when was he admitted to the bar?

I certainly won’t be sending my kids to that law school

Cicero, that great orator and lawyer of Ancient Rome, would be turning in his grave at the logic and practise of Isiromi Tauraga.

AG should be stood down pending serious allegations made against him which is before the public now. People will begin to lose faith and trust in this coalition govt given all filth and dirt coming out from the stench of Tabuya and now Siromi. Very soon it will be free for all and law for none if the govt of the day doesn’t take appropriate action to bring its Ministers in line with rule of law and appropriate behavior. Very bleak future for Fiji and people are regretting voting for change.

Lice never was worth much except for her slanted reporting on selective subjects to suit her agenda. Particularly supportive biased ‘reporting’ toward an eastern group of islands that dominate local politics -both in govt and in public service. Many are part of the ‘fly-now-pay-later’ scheme, full of like minded bigots. ABC could do themselves a favor if they looked for a real and non-partisan journalist who might contribute without fear or favour. Not people such this lice who know full well which side their bread is buttered and are looking for marmalade jam to add punch to their inflated egos.

Jungle law is in force in Fiji. There is no fear of the justice system as the AG, DPP and police themselves are guilty of breaking the law.

There are bad times ahead for the people of Fiji. PM and Biman you 2 are the most disgusting people ever to be in government. You can’t see beyond your noses and seems like you are just interested in collecting allowances and being in photos. Your inaction is destroying this beautiful country.

What a bunch of clowns we voted for. Unfortunately by the end of 4 years Fiji will be unrecognizable. Please God, help Fiji.

This guy is an outright racist. Hard to understand what he says half of the time.

For those joining the show late, heres’s the full summary:

    1. Lynda Tabuya – guilty of extra marital affairs, sexual misconduct while travelling on official duties, purchase of narcotics in Fiji, consumption of banned narcotics in Fiji, transporting narcotics out of Fiji and into Australia.

    2. Aseri Radrodro – guilty of extra marital affairs, sexual misconduct while travelling on official duties, policy violations within the civil service, nepotism and refusal to follow cabinet directives.

    3. Siromi Turaga – racial discrimination, constitutional violations, nepotism, abuse of office, deception, fraud and false pretences

And this is the government the people wanted to lead them???

I believe all this is an example of the “high standards” being practised by the AG. The high standards are legitimate and irrefutable. Remember, the AG is a very God-fearing crackpot. His faith guides his actions. He has been appointed by God to do the work he is doing for the iTaukei. If people think they voted him in, they are sadly mistaken. I will not be surprised if he speaks to God before he goes to bed each night to give him the strength to carry the work on behalf of his Chosen subjects. The AG is a tue champion of the iTaukei and he will do the best for his people.
Remember, it is unforgiveable that a ‘vulagi’ government was allowed to be in power for 16 years in the first place. We must not allow this to happen again. The people of God come first before anything else.
As for this complaint against him, God will win at the end of the day.

Those who voted these lot or advocated for them in hang your head in shame.
Stand down all these crooks who are not worthy of leading the country. How can the military just simply stand by and watch and not react?

Corrupt AG loves his food and drinks. Particularly the non vulgar food. He might be the one requesting a change in the menu at Naboro for the benefit of other prisoners should he get his posting there shortly.

Military should stay out regardless of what the constitution may say. Fiji needs to practice democracy by voting bad governments out. Lots more exercise of the power of voting should wash away the coup cycle.

Democracy in elections would only lead to good outcomes IF the voter was making wise , logical , rational , informed, educated choices in how to and who to vote for in that country’s type of Electrol system. It is wrong to assume democracy delivers ideals…too many gullible voters and too many deceivers as well as incompetent .
So what is the answer then…ask Socrates !

While the complaint appears politically motivated and is clutching at straws, the bigger question is what the Fiji Parliament is doing this week and it seems tomorrow as well. Everyone chiming in to pat HE’s back for a speech well done. When will we get them doing work for the people? Seems a lot of “masi polo” going on. A lot hoopla big swing no ding speeches. Morning teas and cocktails to follow. So much wasting time and resources.

The other LT-feathered bird, Shameless Shamima is a waste of time to interview, with her silly red herrings all over the place.

Oh please, who cares who her BFF jumped into the sack with had she been an ordinary citizen, instead of a Government Minister who conducted herself criminally (drugs) and scandalously whilst on a tax-funded work trip hosted by another government. What a walking joke these two birds of a feather have become.

If the incompetent AG had an ounce of decency, he would resign immediately. He’s not fit to remain chief legal officer of the State given his many blunders.

Not so long ago the nutty PM Rabuka defended the AG after he had meddled in that criminal case by sending a member of his staff to the Court’s judicial officer offering to pay restitution or the accused.

And now, a family case where compounded his litany of errors as an officer of the Court, by misleading a party to the divorce case he had handled so incompetently. What an arrogant imbecile trying to defend the indefensible.

And like his twin-shyster Minister of Bonks & Weed, they conveniently hide beneath their nutty prime minister’s sulu- vakataga.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
