NOTE TO READERS:
Grubsheet is seeking confirmation of the rumours that Francis Puleiwai has left for Australia. There must someone who reads GS who knows her and her movements.
Siromi Turaga is making threatening noises in today’s Fiji Sun about charging someone over leaks from FICAC. And anything can happen now given the government’s desperation.
There’s fairly widespread support for this policy and so it’s a political winner. People are scared about the speed that drugs have taken hold and everyone seems to know who’s involved.
Rooting out the corruption and the bad governance is the real challenge for Fiji. Billionaires getting tax holidays that sort of thing. Advisors cosying up to friendly ministers that type of thing. We need to stamp that out just like we stamp out the dealers. Corruption is the scourge of Fiji. I just can’t believe the people involved in it. Even in my hometown Savusavu it’s bad but we know who they are.
Savusavu town council, police, elite businesses are corrupt. Look at who is getting laid from work in major resorts. People were busy selling drugs to resort workers and resort tourists.
The Police is part of the problem there and cannot be trusted.
Creating a port of entry with no set structures and systems was the biggest mistake. No drug detector dogs, nothing. Just free entry for all with drugs.
The elite are well known. Police knows exactly who they are. But scholarships and foundations are enough to keep the i-taukei happy. Beer and curry chicken is to. The same chiefs send their young men to work for these swines. These men abuse young boys and girls in that town. A vicious cycle of rape and child exploitation.
Fiji has no solution to anything.
There is bad governance all around.
Welcome to Rabuka’s leadership and the change people wanted. There is no surprises if you lived during 1987. Only thing that will succeed is corruption.
Fred, the Christian churches have all said they are opposed to the proposal and so have all the human rights groups. I would have expected the Coalition’s weed-addled tart to come up with such a plan for self promotion but am aghast that Siromi Turaga – a fellow luveni talatala in the Methodist Church – would support it. Similarly, Manoa Kamikamica coming from such a respected family.
I keep returning to the following point: These people came to power by one vote on the floor of the parliament. They don’t have a mandate for anything when most people in Fiji voted for FijiFirst at the last election and these idiots just managed to cobble together a Coalition of the damned.
A huge change such as reintroducing the death penalty should at least be taken to the people in a referendum or be part of manifestos taken to an election. Yet these people take it upon themselves to play God and start killing people with no mandate whatsoever. It is obscene and Un-Christian. And not just in the eyes of Christians but all Fijians, irrespective of faith. Because it is just plain wrong.
GD, YOU have respect.
As for kapitini kilavata kalavata:
Respect is earned, even if given tempoarily. This bastard may have fallen from the same tree, but rolled so far away, he fell into a deep gully of excrement.
Riding in on the coatails kalavata and all, sullying and selling whatever the family name was worth, if anything. Rejoice! Rejoice! Fijians, this is the smear you demanded.
Its not going to happen to the small-time drug dealers on the streets. Nooo… this will be for the “big boys.” They know who they are. That’s how the drugs got in the first place. People in high positions. Government ministers, business leaders, law enforcement..etc.
Hell, look at Tonga. Lord Tuilakepa and his connection with the Colombian cartel. What a cluster-fk that turned out to be.
Which probably explains all that coke found in the waters near the Lau group. Whatever happened to all that blow?
Isa, Viti! They have no idea what kind of evil has been brought into the country.
Fred , the “big boys” have been identified as 3 groups, the Mexican cartels, the Chinese mafia and THE INDIGENOUS CRIMINAL BETWORK comprising chiefs in Matuku and Fulaga islands.
Are these ministers advocating wiping out the indigenous kaiviti and the rest of them? That would be fun to watch ,get passed as a law. Kadavu ,is the capital of Marijuana, and the minister from there wants to kill her chiefs and Kaivata ?
This time around the Indians can’t be the scapegoat!!
Indians are busy giving free heart surgery to the poverty stricken kaiviti whilst the rich Ratus from the islands are busy spreading weed, meth, you name it .
The prophet who shouts that the Govt and Fiji First Govt was corrupt will get rousing cheers.
The prophet who cries out that much of the population has corrupted hearts and practices….a bottle of scotch for this permit, goat curry to that bosso for a favour, $30 to get off that driving ticket, a favour for a cousin to jump the que … Etc. This prophet will be stoned out of town.
Small scale or large. The corruption is endemic. Love your neighbour and fear God is out the window.

Labasa Airport Terminal Building upgrade works.
Appeared in Fiji Times 11 Dec 2023. Tender Closing date 29 Dec 2023.
18 days for an interested company to prepare and submit a tender for a project as big as this…during Dec month year end!
And in FBC news:

An $8.6 million air terminal deal project has been signed and sealed between Fiji Airports and Pacific Building Solutions in Nadi this week.
Due process may well have been followed in advertising and vetting the interested companies – but you cannot help but wonder if it was a forgone deal with PBS because of the timing of when the tender was advertised and closing and how long applicants had to draw plans and submit – mid to late December when business is winding down for the year.
Did PBS have an unfair advantage due to its “closeness” with a flamboyant madam minister. PBS may be the best to do the job but some of the peripheral publicly visible details in the tender process look rather fishy.
Tabuya has no clue what social protection means.
She is the most useless and corrupt politician ever in the name of a woman.
Siromi – his racist Behavior has gone a notch up. Now he can kill his own people easily.
This government has failed Fiji. They have no solution to anything.
Imagine. Just for a second, imagine if ASK/JVB suggested the death penalty during their term in government.
Let that sink in.
Notice too the Butt times not conducting any “polls” to report public opinion. Nor is Butt Times bringing in the usual geriatric octogenarians and tongue-twisting professors for their usual predicably slanted opinions on this “life altering” issue. lol
There can be no doubting that the Minister for Weed, Bonking & Tarti, and the grinning minister for
Just-us-fell-out-of-a-tree, are both aware of the UN OHCHRs position on the death penalty.
The PM is opposed to killing people.
His ministers are running around spreading a totally different message.
Way to go Rabuka.
They don’t even give two f&cks about yah mate.
Lost course big time.
Perhaps in a future time, under a future law, citizens should be given the right to have a recall election, giving the people the right to remove political leaders through a referendum either directly through a petition or through their representatives. What a farce! You know what they say: Give people a little bit of power and you will their true natures. Why is it difficult for politicians to make the people the priority. Why cant they allow people to live happily. Why cant they unite? Why can’t they live lives of integrity? Why divide people? Why does being black or white matter? Why does a person’s ancestry matter? All people desire (at least the silent majority) is peace, a safe place for our children, food on the table, access to proper education and health care. We need leaders who can work for the people! But for our government making these things a priority seems to be too difficult to do. I hope that we are learning our mistakes and hopefully our experiences today will help us make the right choice come 2026. Fools are prone to repeat their mistakes because they see the wrong and still stand with it!
Turaga isn’t a Christian, we can settle that one. He’s a two faced greedy eyed, porky faced evil piece of work. Everyone knows what Tart Tabuya is all about. They have absolutely no mandate to introduce such monumental changes to the penalties for crimes. What a bunch of idiots. No denying there’s a drug epidemic in the country, so what? Start killing the users? What’s the differences between a user and a supplier? They’re both guilty. So is Tabuya. Will she accept what’s proposed as her penalty? Plain dumb this woman is.
What we all seem to forget is that the iTaukei have all the solutions to all the problems. God is on their side as they are God’s chosen people. Just ask them 🙂
Corrupt PM, AG, Ministers, Acting CJ, Acting DPP and so on. No wonder, 3 stories in today’s FT p.19, all from the FRIENDLY North:
a. 7 Labasa schools broken into before the last Term 2 holidays;
b) An assaulted cabbie claims police answered his phone call but ignored his plea for help;
c) Police need evidence that their officers use their private vehicle as illegal taxis aka “pari”.
Fiji, the way the world shouldn’t be!
you can get away with MURDER with the goons
Bula Graham, Any chances of you creating another page on facebook and making a return to the popular platform. I understand you are getting hits on this website regardless, but I for one would be sharing each and every one of your articles to create awareness about the corrupt Self First government. I know we can still share your posts by posting the url link. But it has a few more steps than you being on facebook where we can share without too much hassle. Humble plea. Vinaka
Be leader or step down as PM.
This all makes Fiji very vulnerable.
Every day, every time the words “corruption Fiji” is searched on the internet there is another scandal to see on the web including these. Would be really good to hurry up and do something Rabuka. Despite so much shit, what is anyone doing right now? Is he playing golf or is he sacking these Ministers and getting to the biz of cleaning up the shit already. He seems to think they can do anything and it will not hurt Fiji on the world stage. What poor judgement. They knew that they had a lot of work to do going into this. I despise laziness. This is a national issue. Lazy and gluttonous people everywhere addicted to excess.
If he is not cut out out to lead he must step down. It’s his responsibility to keep them under control. He should save his legacy while he can and get to work for the people of Fiji. Clean up Fiji or get out of politics.
Dumb and dumber.
Too bad some of the educated in Suva, the famed expat lawyers , who are articulate and bold enough to do something, are keeping their mouths shut on corruption.
They too will be exposed sooner or later.
GD, I have some stupid questions if you could clue me in:
Do Ministers have a work schedule or are free to do work as they wish, when they wish.
I don’t see anyone putting in real hours in the Coalition Government. I see constant photo opps but I don’t consider that problem solving especially in national crisis? The job surely needs long hours to help these people. Is anyone in the office at night solving real issues?
I also don’t know how Lynda Tabuya can promote bands, rugby raffles etc when there is so much to do. It’s a travesty.
They apparently are not responsible enough to be making their own hours when you have drug and alcohol and sex addicts rampant in government. Who is paying for the flights to Kadavu?
I’d like to see her expenses and how much is covered by us. If you could please get your hands on that and show us the self indulgent lifestyle.
I want to know how many things are being paid by the tax payers including her bottles of Jack Daniels that she so enjoys. Imagine the cost to tax payers.
So if there is no accountability, why not and how do we change this.
And is there anything in place on this system of government to hold a PM accountable?
Thank you GD.
Rabuka should denounce alcohol, personal travel and lavish dinners and parties being paid for by the government.
Christianity aside, the Coalition has been efficient in supporting lessons learnt from the PM’s and the Chiefs’ recent visits to China, the world’s leading country on killings by the death penalty.
Taukei Leaders, please remember our future generations and govern well which is Biblical. Today’s Fiji Times reports on the Taukei Affairs Board not having its finances audited since 2008 – 16 years ago, 14 under Bai and 2 under Siti. Frightening. No hope in the Taukei Affairs Minister intervening, as the Auditor General’s Office requests, since the Honorable Minister is known to be a partner of that law breaking trafficker from China. Isa o Viti, we are so bloody cheap.
I see that Siromi Turaga is making threatening noises in today’s Fiji Sun about charging someone over leaks from FICAC. I wonder where his power will come from as FICAC does not answer to him or have any relationship with him. Perhaps he will contact his ‘mate’ John Rabuku and get him to launch a prosecution?
I also wonder under what legislation a person could be charged? Perhaps they could be charged Oath of Office and Official Secrets Act of the United Kingdom of 1911-1920 Fiji? Given that Fiji became a Republic and is no longer any jurisdiction of the United Kingdom I wonder whether that legislation is still valid in the modern Fiji.
Fiji does not appear to have its own Official Secrets Act, which is amazing, since it is Republic.
Has Siromi Turaga been consulting Biman Prasad, who seems to threaten legal action against all and sundry?
Where is the PM in all of this? Nowhere to be found!
What are the Opposition members doing – saving their backsides and collecting their pay?
Shouldn’t they be organisng marches on the streets?
Or is this Fiji-style oppostion?
Drinking and eating excessively all day and night like everyone else who enjoys the government perks.
Being overly gluttonous has catastrophic consequences.
Marching would be great for the waistline and heart, kill two birds with one stone, eh?
We hope that the Opposition Leader, Hon. Seruiratu, will bounce back next Mon after the RKS centennial celebrations end on Sun. But the sooner, the better, Sir.
In order to understand why the ministers are coming up with such ideas, one has to to also understand their history. Their leaders waged wars, beheaded their opponents and drew blood. All this ceased when Europeans and Christianity arrived. But deep within I do believe they did not want control and change. Now that their PM who has plundered and drawn blood since 1987, they are on a path of savagery. Death penalty to them is a modern version of their wars. I say give them a rope of whatever size they want.
Rope me in for that comment! Ha
Hahahahah
Some neighbors confirmed late night raid of Francis Puleiwais house, presumably FICAC. Ms Puleiwai has not been sighted last few days and close sources revealed stop departure was placed bit too late, probably left
Fiji is seeing one thing for sure.
i-Taukei drama in leadership.
No one else but them.
Good luck.
They want to hang big gang drug peddlers. What about murderers and child rapists and child abusers. They can enjoy their lives? She keeps whining and whinging everytime a woman is killed but no calles for them to be hanged. Has she even thought about it.
I think the Minister for Bonking does not know that her brain is in her arse.
I think it may be somewhere else nearby.
Send tart to a doctor to confiirm she has Zachary disease.
What is Zachary disease, you ask? When her ass and her face look Zachary the same.
