# AS WAR ERUPTS IN THE MIDDLE EAST, OUR THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE INNOCENTS ON ALL SIDES (UPDATED MON AM)

Posted on February 28, 2026 17 Comments

Donald Trump‘s “Operation Epic Fury” against Iran has already triggered retaliatory missile attacks against Israel and America’s other allies in the region, including the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

We think not only of the people of Iran, Israel and those other nations but any Fijians living in the region, who along with everyone else, have been urged to take shelter. Many of us know someone affected and we pray that they will be safe.

This is going to be long and bloody and will have huge ramifications far beyond the region, not least the negative impacts on the global economy that could easily be felt as far away as Fiji. Let’s hope it is over quickly.

UPDATE:

And there are certainly innocents on all sides, even by the side of the hated Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

From the Telegraph UK

Back in Fiji, there’s plenty of conflict in the stand-off between the Judicial Services Commission and the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, over FICAC.

Coming soon…CommonMan’s take on the extraordinary events currently evolving in Fiji.

While it appears on the surface to be a clash of wills and personalities, is it all part of a concerted plan by Sitiveni Rabuka to upend the 2013 Constitution?

Don’t miss it.

Anything to get rid of the mullahs in Iran. I am sure the people of Iran would agree.
In fact their parents welcomed the Ayatollahs with great celebration 47 years ago and now they have regrets.
It is much like what is happening in Fiji. There is voter regret 3 years after electing a bunch of dinosaurs, despots and losers. But the writing was always on the wall from 40 years ago and in plain sight but the voters could not see what was in plain sight.
Wonder if the US can do an extraction in Fiji. It will only take one helicopter of special forces ladies. No need for aircraft carriers, fighter jets and the like, just a couple of ladies please. President Trump, are you listening?

Such a narrow minded comment. You should learn the facts especially that UN and most world leaders have condemned US-Israel’s unprovoked attack in the middle of negotiations.

        The UN is perpetually useless.
There is a new world order.

        In the middle of negotiations?
The US gave them the opportunity to negotiate in good faith which has never been Iran’s strong point.
In the end, the lies and deceit of the Iranian leadership proved not to be a good negotiating tactic.
They got what was coming to them.
        The people are now free.

Your post is not only factually incorrect and inaccurate, but it also demonstrates how intellectually devoid you are of the reality of this situation. Filling your mind with limited and selective information doesn’t do you any good. Being selective in your choice of information and then using this forum to post such nonsense is a poor reflection of how emotionally and intellectually impotent you are.

Iran got bombed in the middle of negotiations. Apparently they were supposed to have a fresh round of talk today.

You can’t trust the Americans. It suits Israel to attack Iran now while they have leverage with US politicians via the Epstein files to suit their greater Israel imperial project.

A ridiculous colonial notion rooted on a religious claim. F**king shame.

A reprehensible comment from someone who doesn’t value life, peace and tranquility or the sovereignty of independent states. The US has started another war of aggression without the approval of U.S Congress, and this is happening in the wake of other historical military blunders.

I stand with the people of Iran. You seem to be oblivious to what has been happening in Iran for the last 47 yrs. The people of Iran have been held hostage and hundreds of thousands have been murdered by mullahs and the system of justice in that time. Pls dinosaurs and fossils should not be running anything and that includes the dickheads in Fiji, from the President and PM to the CJ and below.

All comes down to the Supreme Court giving Trump immunity from prosecution for any act that was conducted in the name of Presidential work.

Something they might well come to regret, the way things are heading.

Well done Israel and US. Got rid of head of the snake with first strike. Now a chance for citizens to decide instead of fanatical zealots and their corrupt administrators who were accountable to no-one.

For beachcomber’s sake, or the sake of the people the beachcomber sells his/ her pickings to from the sandy beach seashore – that the difference between a poisonous shellfish and one that is safe to consume is clear to the beachcomber. There seems to be some delusion or confusion about freedom and value of human life
In Iran under the theocratic dictatorial regime. The mullahs and their regime enforcers there make the so called FijiFirst dictatorship look like tame doves.

Will Fiji be sending troops to Gaza ?

Minister Po Tikoduadia ‘gaslighted’ the Fiji public by telling returning soldiers and the public alike that Fiji has been invited and that the issue will be decided in parliament etc.

Ah…. life, peace and tranquility and the sovereignty of independent states…those very values espoused by Iran through Hezbollah, Hamas, the Houthis and others throughout the Middle East and even to attacks on the Jewish communities in Australia.

How many thousands of their own people have they killed in recent months, including executing people in their hospital beds.

Let’s leave these peace loving folk in power so they can threaten large parts of the world with the nuclear weapons they are striving so hard to acquire.

    Clown!

Yup. These uncivilized vermin in Iran and their offspring in ISIS and Hezbollah etc should be wiped out for the sake of humanity.

Go the Crusaders – they defeated the Chiefs last weekend….the ‘mana’ is there with them.

The Fiji flag carries the cross of St George and St Andrew. Lets keep it that way.

      Onward with the Crusade!

So, Mr Pio Tikoduarua, you still have the appetite to send Fiji troops to Gaza?

Of course not. Pio made his name in the RFMF as a Personal Staff Officer to the Commander.
Same as Lesi Korovavla and Sakesiasi Ditoka.

      They were not field soldiers

They were HQ staff officers now parading as true soldiers who ‘know it all’.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
