#ASPI ON THE FIJI-US ROW

Posted on April 24, 2021 5 Comments

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute examines the diplomatic row between Fiji and the US over Frank Bainimarama not being invited to Joe Biden’s virtual climate summit. Professor Richard Herr writes: “The US does want Fiji’s support broadly on a variety of regional issues including selling its new climate change message. Yet, the Biden administration seems unwilling to respond to attempts at manipulation by countries playing the ‘China card’.”

Oh how it comes back to bite Frankie in the rear like he’s expecting more free funds. This is what happens when you depend on Khaiyum too much for diaper changes.

It may have sealed FFPs fate for not realizing the stupidity of their 15 year mishap with a dropout PM and failed lawyer for AG at the helm.

Pity the ship has set sailed a long time ago with potential change in the party gone begging.

This Biden double Policy not good and he made biggest mistake by not inviting Hon. Bainimarama when Jacinta Arden is supporting China President and irony is he invited Ji Ping.
Biden you are too green. Still not late, invite Bani. He is your supporter. You take over all the debt of the Pacific Island Countries and help them like CHINA.
They will support you. In fact, when the American Consulate was burned in Fiji, Cakabau Government offered Fiji to USA.
If you had taken it Fiji will be another State of USA like Hawaii. Still not late.
FIJI THE WAY THE WORLD SHOULD BE. LEARN FROM BANI HOW TO EFFECTIVELY CONTROL COVEC 19. TAKE REAL ADVISE FROM ISLAND NATIONS.

Real Kaiviti, What nonsense are you talking about. Are you saying Fiji should be ceded again?
Fiji prior to 15 years ago had good leadership under Mara, short lived Bavadra Govt, and Chaudhry and Qarase. Yes one may not have always agreed with each in third leadership but at least they were principled and followed the rule of the law.
What you have now under Frank is total two men dictatorship disguised as genuine democracy.
The last 15 years Fiji has seen the biggest fraud on a nation in a so called democracy, biggest mismanagement of finances and economy. Fiji is economically a financial disaster , borrowing money to need civil service payroll , give me a break that rest of works should learn from Frank .

Unfortunately for you RK, the US doesn’t need help from some entitled party that’s full of nobodies running the government and continuing to pile up future generational debts from constant mismanagement of finances through poor governance.

Biden’s administration have done their homework on foreign diplomacy so its not surprising that he told Frankie to bugger off, leaving him whining, kicking, and screaming like a little kid since Biden has no time for lousy high school dropouts.

If it wasn’t for Rambo’s delusional mistake, Fiji would’ve been thriving by now under a genuine democracy even if it may not be perfect. It’s quite funny sucking up to the US now when you’ve been hanging out with China for way too long.

In the recent Climate Change summit, President Biden goes on an awkward and embarrassing tangent: “Let my wife come home”.

This is the leader of the free world, who tripped up thrice walking up the stairs to Air Force One.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
