# BOMBSHELL. WAS THE PRESIDENT MANIPULATED INTO NOT SUSPENDING BARBARA MALIMALI?

Posted on February 24, 2025 33 Comments

The President at the opening of Parliament on Monday

There’s an astonishing story doing the rounds in Suva to explain the account by Janet Mason – the Counsel Assisting the Commission of Inquiry into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner – that the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, recommended to the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, that Malimali be suspended before she was sent on leave instead.

Incredibly – as this story goes – the Prime Minister was allegedly thwarted by an extraordinary conspiracy between someone on the President’s staff and either the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, as head of the Judicial Services Commission or someone acting for him.

The Prime Minister’s letter to the President was allegedly intercepted when it arrived at State House and was withheld from Ratu Naiqama. So that instead of suspending Malimali, he accepted a recommendation from the JSC to send the FICAC Commissioner on leave for three weeks.

Grubsheet and most of my readers will scarcely believe that such a thing is possible. But this story is coming from more than one source and cannot be discounted.

Who is the person at State House who is being accused of withholding a communication from the PM to the Head of State and violating the Constitutional provision that the President takes advice from the Prime Minister – something that was laid out in stark detail last week in the advice to the COI by the New Zealand Kings Counsel, Professor Philip Joseph?

Grubsheet is withholding that person’s identity for the moment. But if this account is true, all hell is about to break loose because it is a grave assault on the integrity of the state and those involved in this alleged conspiracy – assuming it turns out to be true – are facing the mother of all inquisitions and the harshest penalties.

Let’s just remind ourselves of what Janet Mason told the Fiji Times on Saturday.

Quote: “Somehow it ended up back with the JSC”. How? Was the Prime Minister’s letter to the President intercepted and redirected to the Chief Justice as head of the JSC? What was Salesi Temo’s role in this extraordinary saga?

These are questions of the utmost importance to which the Fijian people deserve answers. And it about time we get some. Because the whole Barbara Malimali affair is becoming more and more insidious by the day and less and less transparent.

Grubsheet stresses that these allegations are unproven and we await further details and explanation. But there is one thing we can report with a high degree of certainty.

The Commission of Inquiry has now gone back to the President with a fresh request to suspended Barbara Malimali as several members of her staff line up to give evidence in the final days of the COI hearing this week.

Now that we know from Janet Mason that the Prime Minister advised the President to suspend the FICAC Commissioner – or at least says he did – there is now zero chance of the effort again being derailed. The onus is on the President to do the right thing and accede to the Prime Minister’s request, as the Constitution requires him to do.

And in the meantime, those who appear to have prevented this suspension from happening before now must be suspended themselves, subjected to the most probing investigation and face the full force of the law. Because if any of this is true, the State really is rotten to the core and heads must roll however high this alleged conspiracy goes.

POSTSCRIPT:

The President doesn’t look at all well, judging from some of the photos from Monday’s opening of Parliament. Has it made him more susceptible to being manipulated?

It’s a perfectly reasonable question to ask under the circumstances. The concern is written all over the faces of those around him.

Another image of the President taken last week at his installation as Chancellor of the Order of Fiji. The deterioration in his physical appearance has been sudden and dramatic.

—————————–

And on other matters, a Grubsheet reader warned in our comments section last night that I would be gagging on my breakfast cereal when I saw the latest instalment from the Prime Minister’s resident handmaiden in Tuesday’s Fiji Times.

Guess what Fiji? Sitiveni Rabuka tells the gormless Cheerieann that Mahendra Chaudhry is going to have to win the election if he wants to become prime minister again.

Oi, sa dina? Really? Who’d have thunk? Surely not? How amazing!

Never mind something trivial like the Malimali scandal. This is genuinely breathtaking news. Hold the front page! (And they did).

As we’ve said before, what self-respecting fish would ever want to be wrapped in this rubbish? Not only Coalition propaganda as “news” but the bleeding obvious in yet another insult to our intelligence.

    Look at this fool.
He is decorated with medals like he earned them.
    Swines everywhere.

I will not believe a word Rabuka says. He is a habitual liar and will do anything to save himself first. So anything about the President and him not knowing or him telling the President is still a lie. They have had weeks to correct their lies.

Rabuka has done this all along. The lies just keep coming and piling up. He needs to be reminded that he needs to win the poll come 2026 or even better when the snap election happens.

The President does not look fit or healthy for the job. He could barely stand and almost got blown away by the wind. He’s obviously sick. Should he undergo medical tests to check his fitness for the job, and if need be, resign, or be constitutionally removed? I’m not a journalist but I would think that these are the questions the media should be asking, even if discreetly. Especially after Grubsheet’s disclosure about a conspiracy at the Presidential offices.

It seems like the President is too feeble in mind and body and there’s a risk that his office could be easily manipulated. The president’s fitness for the job would be the story after his performance at the opening of Parliament, not the PM reacting to, of all people, some obscure letter writer about Chaudhry.

The Fiji Times journalist that covered the opening of Parliament should be sacked for being tone deaf and blind to an obvious story. What the hell is wrong with The Fiji Times? Look like their newsroom is filled with dumb people if that’s the best story they can come up with.

Alleged conspiracy. So far. But something very irregular has clearly happened. And yes, Ratu Naiqama’s appearance at the opening of parliament was shocking.

Looks like the pedo President is rotting from the inside……slowly. That is the way it should be. They should try some traditional medicines, see if they work. We all know that the Fijian traditional medicines are the best!
If not than there is always praying and fasting. Then there is always the wheelchair.
Hopefully he pays all his dues since 1987 till now in this life before he goes and becomes nothing.

My suggestion for the Hon President- please get admitted to CWMH in Suva, to be organised by your nepotism appointment son who also happens to be God’s chosen Health minister. One word of advice though – do take along your bedsheets, pillow and blankets, some syringes and hypodermic needles, iv drip set. And don’t forget a clean oxygen mask.

CWMH under your son, the Minister, has been turned into a shit house, more deserving of death house than a hospital with none of the above things present, or if present, all re-used after being sterilised in the various donated sterilisers from China, if one is still working.

And please DON’T run away for overseas treatment. This is your chance to show how much you care for Fiji and her people …

If there was a manipulation of that letter Graham, it’s going to have been by Vukidonu Qionibaravi, the President’s Secretary. The recently appointed Joeli Ditoka was removed by the President to reinstall DiVuki to the position so Joeli Ditoka’s hope of securing that job and working with the President was short lived.

DiVuki is the infamous lady who has had a long adulterous affair with Pita Wise, the brother in law of the President and who’s the former PS in the Prime Minister’s office. Pita Wise is the younger brother of Emily Wise, the wife of the President Ratu Naiqama.

DiVuki has long been involved with manipulating both the PM and the President, along with Pita Wise.

You can count on DiVuki, who is close friends with Ropate Green the Solicitor General , Selina Kuruleca, Graham Leung, Barbara Malimali, Lynda Tabuya, Tanya Waqanika and the lot.

Wait for it Graham. It will show itself up sooner or later. We are being led by conspiracists. Unethical inexperienced idiots!

Can we have more disclosures on who all are related to each other in the executive levels of government and judiciary?

Fiji public needs to know this. Nepotism is rife in Fiji.

Lies to cover lies to cover lies, and too much manipulation at play to tell what’s going on sometimes.

That’s the problem when corrupt manipulators surround themselves with other corrupt manipulators. They eventually start playing their games against each other, as well as in tandem when it suits.

Then no none knows which way is up and which way is down.

By virtue of this information, is it to be assumed that there is a rift between Rabuka and Temo? If Rabuka requested the suspension, but the idiot in the judiciary had the final say, it shows a rift exists.

In addition to this, if there is a stooge planted in the presidential office, it means the office of the president is compromised; not withstanding the fact this was already happening when a pedophile was appointed to the office.

This also shows that Rabuka has no real clout to effect changes, if his decisions are being ignored.

Could it be possible this racist iTaukei government is imploding, or will do so before the next elections?

It is more than gossip or I wouldn’t be reporting it. It may well be that the Prime Minister sent the President a letter advising him to suspend Barbara Malimali and the Chief Justice sent a separate letter advising him to send her on leave.

Why was the CJ’s advice taken and not the PM’s? If it is true that Ratu Naiqama wasn’t given the letter from the PM, this is at a stellar level of mischief and misconduct.

I grant you that the story line is so improbable that it could easily be from a TV soap opera. But we live in an era where the improbable often becomes possible and then established fact.

I can tell you, hand on heart, that this is not the only bombshell information that has reached me from the Commission of Inquiry. For the moment, I cannot report it without being in contempt of the proceedings. But rest assured that a great deal of it is right out of the pages of a TV script or novel. Only it appears to be true.

And I can certainly tell you that assuming the Ashton-Lewis report is made public ( and even if it’s not) the coming weeks are going to be momentous.

It appears that some people are trying to save themselves. The CoI was initiated by Rabuka to determine who chose Bigbra Malimali in the first place. Seems like it may not have been his choice. The plot thickens.

To help government’s diversionary efforts from the CoI cock-ups, let’s switch to somethimg mundane shall we?

So, meanwhile, back at the barn in Tudravuland, the PolComm said some…well, barnstorming clichéd innuendo stuff –a sampling:

..Tudravu ruled out large scale commercial drug manufacturers.
    > Really? Have we checked the ginger farm?
…he also highlighted the various ways drugs are smuggled, including through cargo vessels, and individuals hand carrying them across borders…
    >Who’da thunk? Thank you, Sherlock.
    …I’m renewing calls for a holistic approach…
    >what does that even mean?
…we must remain vigilant to prevent transnational crime … from gaining a foothold in Fiji.
    >a dollar short and a day late!
…urged community leaders, faith-based organizations and NGOs to join the fight against drugs.
    >Good luck with that. The NGOs are busy frying bigger fish and faith-based groups rely on drug incomes to build churches and purchase top of the range SUV for the talatala.
..major crimes are linked to drugs…
    >shocking revelation. No one knew this before; we’d all be in the dark if not for the police. The most insightful and informative statement this month!

OK, back to to the CoI and pedo prezzy and the crazy JSC and the liar lair PM.

Where was all the basking in the glory with all the medals, swords etc at receiving this charity with so much pride. Lets see how long Timo lasts before the next disaster. I am not praying for the disaster, but with a whole heap of incompetents and drugged and drunk idiots at all levels what should one expect?
With all the bad luck and embarrassment regarding these charities from Australia, they settled for Baimaan to do the honours. I guess Baimaan must have felt very important!!!!
Next I want to see Baimaan with the salusalu and cake when Australia gives the next direct budget support in cash. He would be grinning from ear to ear with pride for his achievement!!!

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.
