This was the smoking gun case that was guaranteed to land Bainimarama in jail. This was the most straightforward open and shut case against him. So no surprise here that he’s been found guilty. Only thing remains is whether he will serve time or not.

A sad day for Fiji. Frank saved the nation in 2000 and 2006. While the real criminals exposed in the COI report enjoy impunity, one of the nation’s most storied leaders is returning to prison.

    so the witch hunt continues.

Will Fiji ever have a government that thinks about the future of all its peoples?

Or will each government keep directing its resources to persecute anyone linked to the previous government?

The health system is pathetic – government care factor 0.

The police starting from Tuidravu are corrupt as – government care factor “let us drive qiliho mad”

Drugs are out of control – government care factor ” just do not let government vehicles be implicated”.

The roads are worse then Gaza – government care factor “let us look towards jerusalem

    And, so on.

And what about the abuse of office by the CJ? Who will be taking any action against that or is this a case of a drunkard put in charge of the brewery?

Frank was an arrogant and corrupt fool who followed Khaiyum’s ‘Sunset Clause’ against i’taukei interests and enriched himself in the process.

Both of them will now spend the next 5-7 years together comparing notes whilst dressed in orange jump suits.

    Enjoy your twilight years Frank.

Would you care to elaborate on this so called “sunset clause” you talk about?

And the proof that the two enriched themselves?

While I agree that Frank became arrogant as the power got to his head, your other two points are baseless.

You need to stop making claims that you cannot substantiate.

Learn to understand facts instead of peddling misinformation you heard from the grapevine.

This sunset clause is a myth perpetuated by ethno-nationalist politicians to get votes from gullible Fijian voters.

Please do us a favour and get yourself an education.

Pull your head out of the AR-E and smell the roses bro.

Go read Khaiyum’s LLM thesis. Then go talk to the Great Council of Chiefs, which was disbanded by Khaiyum….etc

Please do yourself a favour and go get educated.

Well, who will now go eat dhal soup under a mango tree?

His words against the chiefs and the indigenous people of Fiji have now come back to haunt him.

I truly hope he gets a suspended sentence. Or a pardon. Because he has done a fantastic job as the prime minister compared to the current rag bag of incompetent dimwits.

The cabal are trying so hard to break down the spirit of FB. They are terrified that he may stand for elections and that will be the end for them. They also know that Qiliho will not stand for elections so he has been let go. And the baying mob behind Rabuka have very short memory. They totally don’t get 1987.

How can Qiliho get his job back when he already has a criminal conviction. That’s what this current corrupt government is trying their level best to do. That is convict Frank, ASK, Qiliho and Saneem so they don’t qualify for elections.

But REMEMBER; their spouses are forming the next party and stand for election….Wait and see ????

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
