As if the Coalition doesn’t have enough on its hands with one scandal in the form of Lynda Tabuya, a second scandal threatens to envelope it as it sits on the findings of the Tribunal that investigated the charge of misbehaviour against the Director of Public Prosecutions, Christopher Pryde.
Grubsheet reported two days ago that Christopher Pryde was exonerated by the Tribunal judges led by Justice Anare Tuilevuka when they formally handed their ruling to the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at 3.30 PM on Monday December 23 – precisely eight days ago.
Now having been already kept waiting for 21 months after he was suspended in April 2023, Christopher Pryde is being subjected to another unconscionable delay in being informed of the official findings. And his patience has run out.
The tone is polite but insistent. And for once, this letter cannot be ignored by the recipients or the Fijian and regional media. If Christopher Pryde has been found not guilty of misbehaviour, the Constitution requires that his suspension be lifted.
Why isn’t it happening? Because it is the Coalition’s worst nightmare. And the worst nightmare for the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, who now faces being sued for defamation for having falsely depicted the DPP as a thief.

The sole Fijian mainstream media story on the front page of today’s Fiji Sun after Grubsheet broke the story of the DPP being exonerated of the charge of misbehaviour against him.

The Fijian of the Year award goes to no other than Graham Davis!
You are too kind. But I gather I have also been nominated for Fijian Pain in the Arse of the Year. π
Well, your articles are followed like gold! Well worth subscribing for a payment too.
Agree
The public strongly encourages Pryde to expose these clowns by suing the arse off them. Justice demands no.less.
Unfortunately, as has become norm in Fiji, if those that engineered what they thought would be a win, then failed and fell at the last hurdle, they won’t acknowledge that they are wrong. They will carry on with the delaying tactics of nearly two years and carry on with their bullying in an effort to prove that they are above the law and should you ask for your rightful justice to be carried out, as set down in the constitution, then you can just wait.
You might have beaten us, but that doesn’t mean there is an obligation on our part to make this right or easy for you. We wanted rid of you and that didn’t happen in either of the two ways we tried, bribery and trumped up charges, however, we are in charge and we will now work on another way to dispose of you, but we are still figuring how to do it, so sit down and wait. We will work it out and get back to you when WE are ready.
An absolute disgrace!!!
Relevant case study is the former SG, Sharvada Nand Sharma.
Incidentally Graham, I have not heard of the settlement of Sharvada’s case. You might know of the latest.
In any case, if the Coalition can ignore the $3m compensation awarded by the High Court in January 2024 for someone suspended by the previous administration, then it is difficult to expect that the DPP will be reinstated and receive his due entitlements.
Sharvada Sharma still can’t get the Coalition government to pay a single cent of the money he was awarded after a judge found that he was entitled to compensation for unlawful dismissal.
These people are the utter pits. I can barely contain my rage at the way in which Rabuka and his political catamite, Biman Prasad, have betrayed us all and are no better than Frank and Aiyaz.
I intend to chip away at their disgraceful conduct all the way to the election in 2026. And believe me, they are wide open to ignominy and defeat. Because anyone with any sense of decency has had enough.
Our beloved Fiji is being trashed by these vandals. Ordinary iTaukei are starting to understand that they are in it for themselves and the rest of the elite, not for the poor and struggling. And any “Indian” worked out long ago that Baimann is poison. The Great Betrayer.
Tamper with the equal opportunity provisions of the Constitution and they will be swept away. Because even the least educated in Fiji understand the principle of fairness. Of the right of all citizens to belong and a fair go for all, irrespective of ethnicity, wealth and privilege.
Look how the rich and the iTaukei elite behave! They are simply appalling. And Lynda Tabuya is a living, breathing example of why they must not be allowed to rule and why our nation is being destroyed from within by selfishness and greed.
Rabuka, The President, Rabuku, Temo, Turaga and others associated with this government are low lives. On one hand they associate themselves with Christanity but on the other hand they practice hate and revenge. They must be cropping something against Pryde. Some of them are near death bed and should be worried about their wrongful deeds. Pryde should cc all his correspondence to the Prime Minister, Leader of Opposition of NZ and Mr. David Parker, the opposition Foreign Affairs spokesperson.
I hope you’re training a predecessor Graham, I have long abandoned Fj local media…..you ARE the only one that maybe a pain in the arse for the Fijian upper echelons, but great reporting for the locally oppressed… It also keeps the hob-nobs of Fijian ‘society’ watching their P’s and Q’sπ…good jobππ
The deplorable child molesting President must be a regular reader of Mr Grubs postings.
He has just released a statement about considering the tribunals findings and giving advice on it.
So the crook is going to advise on the tribunals findings and rulings in due course when every other crook had an opportunity to think about a criminal manoeuvre they can conduct.
Maybe they will do something similar to what Bainimarama did once. Within an hour he was appointed to the president and then back to prime minister by illegal means that was legitimised by crooked lawyers. Watch the space for something similar. It is ruled by law of the jungle when it suits the mighty crooks.

A three-member Tribunal was appointed under section 112 of the Constitution of the Republic of Fiji to inquire into allegations of misbehavior against the suspended Director of Public Prosecutions, Mr. Christopher Pryde. Mr. Justice Anare Tuilevuka chaired the Tribunal while the other two members are Mr. Justice Chaitanya Lakshman and Mr. Justice Samuela Qica.
The Tribunal has completed its work and has submitted its Report to the President His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu. His Excellency will need to peruse the Report, to undertake consultations, and to seek and receive advice on it. Given that some officials are on Christmas and New Year’s leave, these processes have been delayed.
This process will be completed after officials resume work in the New Year. It is acknowledged that the Report does need to be made public as required in section 112(6) of the Constitution, and His Excellency will do so as soon as he has properly considered it.

The president’s office has felt the pressure for sitting on the report of the Trubunal and blames the holiday period for not taking action. It took the President’s office 8 days to inform the public about the report and that he would act on it in the new year when his officials were back in office. I only hope that he has not sent the report to Temo, Graham, and Siromi for their comments.
Someone should have informed Pryde and not waited for him to write for the update and decision.
What can you expect from Naiqama? He, like others, is only there for the position and not action.
In Fiji: If you Don’t like the findings or decision of a Tribunal which is binding as per the constitution, you avoid acting on it by finding others friendly to your agenda , consult with them and seek and receive their advice. Then when you find the advice you like then act on it. With a show of pomp and kava ceremony.
