The DPP has issued a public statement to the media in response to the Fiji Sun report today (see previous article) suggesting that he is responsible for being “paid to do nothing” in which he lays the blame for the impasse over his reappointment with the Judicial Services Commission.
He also reveals that he has copied in correspondence sent to the Attorney General, Graham Leung, seeking his assistance to break the impasse to both the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, and the Minister for Finance, Biman Prasad, and has received no acknowledgement from anyone.
In addition to the bombshell statement, the DPP also issues a copy of his letter to the Assistant DPP, Laisani Tabuakuro, terminating her services for misconduct. It raises serious questions in itself as to why the Acting DPP, Nancy Tikoisuva, has reappointed Laisani Tabuakuro in Christopher Pryde’s absence when her behaviour would have had her dismissed from any organisation.
Read on for a first person account of why the criminal justice system in Fiji is in a state of chaos and dysfunction, so much so that it cannot continue to be ignored. And with the buck resting very much with the Prime Minister, who keeps washing his hands of the Christopher Pryde affair, claiming he cannot interfere in the proceedings of the JSC, when only he can bring an end to this farce.

And the DPP releases the letter he sent Laisani Tabuakuro terminating her as Assistant DPP.

True to form, the AG washes his hands of any responsibility in a report by FBC News.
He does so even though the law prescribes that he must be consulted on any decision by the JSC. Which makes his comments a grave dereliction of duty. Because while the JSC is independent, GrahamLeung, as the government’s legal advisor, has always had the right to make his concerns known about the delay in dealing with Christopher Pryde’s case.
.

Well in advance of publication time, even the Fiji Times covers the Pryde statement.

But from the bravehearts at CFL/Fiji Village as the day progresses, nothing.
Vijay Narayan and the rest of his bent talkers must be singing for their $1.7-million in government funding.
Media watchdogs whose barks have been removed with your money.

Well, it appears that the current people in charge of the ODPP are entitled to make the laws as they go and as they see fit depending on who is on the receiving end. This is the iTaukei way of doing things – the right way. Ably assisted by the PM, the CJ, the AG and the President not to mention Baimaan and many others. This is the new free Fiji and in a free country one can do what they want without fear. Most importantly, every one is free to exercise their God-given right to be stupid. And there is nothing better than exercising such a right and being proud. There is no better freedom than the freedom to be proud when you are an idiot and get paid. “Hey everyone, just look at me, look at me I am an idiot and getting paid”. I believe the prime minister is thinking the same. He would be extra proud.
We have proudly and openly racists in charge of the ODPP. Not only that, they are embarrassing, entitled and incompetent. All pretending to be Christians at the same time. They are not only an embarrassment to the iTaukei, they are an embarrassment to the legal profession. Where are all the “prominent lawyers”?
Are there any standards, or is it the case they make the standards as they go?
The CJ, another racist, prejudiced and a person with no idea about independence in his position. A clown, a ring master and Santa Claus all rolled into one and very proud to be totally incompetent and getting paid to be a dickhead. Life must be good.
I think they all are laughing at us. Can you hear them?
The persons holding the following positions;
Prime Minister
Deputy Prime Minsters
Attorney General
Minister of Justice
Chief Justice,
in FACT, the whole Government,
IS a DISGRACE to these positions of State.
Village mentality has taken over the State.
The lowest common denominator rules, new ethos.
The fools leading the fools and the blind leading the blind in the government legal system. And the legal profession and journalists are impotent and compromised. Good luck Fiji. You may never recover.
Good job DPP. You are showing these Fijians some class as they don’t have any. Uncivilised bush lot.
Let’s all agree that Fiji is going backwards because the indigenous itaukei people are complicit in the total destruction of the country. There are two main reasons for this: 1)They can’t see past the ideological lenses i.e. their entire worldview is based on Christianity and provincialism. Their loyalty remains to the unworthy “chief” figured who have no real solution to improve the livelihoods of the ordinary Jone or Tomasi or Ana. People can point fingers and blame the non-indigenous population for everything that is going wrong in the country. But Fiji’s descent into the dark ages has already begun.
I am shamed as a native that instead to creating a better Fiji post-Bainimarama/Kaiyum era, the very people who begged for our votes are worse than FijiFirst. Rabuka has confirmed he is no different to Bai. He is, indeed, a snake. Manoa and the lot are inept. NFP and Biman are delusional narcissists. And the media – well look no further than people like Vijay Narayan, Fred Wesley and Stanley Simpson to understand the media’s decline. Oh and how can we forget Cherrieann Wilson. She was Rabuka’s press secretary. Now she is running a column with Rabuka in the Fiji Times. They really do take all Fijians for fools.
What a great piece. The elite iTaukei will do anything to retain power and the grassroots are simply tagging along to keep the vulagi out. The first ‘revolution’ happened in 1987 and then again in 2000 and where are the iTaukei after almost 40 years?
Are they all blind or plain dumb? Both, you say? And embracing a vulagi religion and a vulagi God with so much passion, I do not understand it. The iTaukei know more about Christinaity than the missionaries who introduced the religion. Now we have every person and their dog wanting to start a new church or a new Christian sect every second week. I believe it has all to do with racism, hate, envy, blaming others. Culture and tradition are red herrings and pretentious excuses. As for the arrogant chiefs, they are useless, but the people pretend to respect them, but I am sure they poke fun at them behind their backs.
The solution- get rid of racism and hate and arogance and all the bullshit that goes with it. What is happening in the ODPP has all these elements.
When was the criminal justice system doing well in last 15 years or so?
Never!
It was biased and in chaos since than and it is the same today.
This is another circus going on for the past 2 years, including Christopher, and no one knows when it’s ending.
What a shame and just stale news these days.
Why can’t Christopher be in his country where he will have better opportunities instead of knocking his head against a third world dump like Fiji?
Because he has a contract until March 2026 and having been reinstated by presidential order he intends to fulfil his side of that contract.
He has also demonstrated that he is incredibly stubborn, as these people are finding out to their cost. He will never resign or simply walk away.
Three judges have found him innocent and the President has reinstated him. So that is the position and my own judgment is that he will never kowtow to the likes of Temo and Tikoisuva simply on a matter of principle.
This a ‘coup’ by Temo and others in the judiciary.
I think CP should bite the bullet and stop butting his head against the brick wall created by Salesi Temo and his cabal of syncophants.
It’s a leadership problem that belongs to the Artful Doger aka ‘Rolex Rambo.
So many contracts were terminated by last government, what is so special about this one, GD.
You think I could be bothered answering this? Read the stories for yourself. These people promised to be better and they are worse. And that’s it.
