Who has best displayed character, integrity, honour and commitment to the truth in our national life over the past 12 months when these qualities have never been more desperately needed in Fiji?
Grubsheet will soon be announcing our own choice of Fijian of the Year for 2025. But in the meantime, we’re inviting you to put forward your choice in our comments section below.
In election year at a time of national crisis when our institutions are failing and more and more Fijians are losing hope, we desperately need proper role models for our young people to emulate.
I’ve found mine. Who is yours?

There’s a facebook account in the name of Jiaoji Savou whose posts I read regularly.
Jiaoji gets my vote for regularly holding power to account. Not easy for any itaukei, given all the kinship ties, cultural considerations etc.
Is Jiaoji a real person? he used to heavily criticise FFP but now has flipped.
J Savou. I would have nominated him a while ago. Now definitely not..he has lost the plot in my view , as displayed in his posts especially his non domestic warfare analysis or could be copied and pasted analysis..his constant use of the term “boys ” is now nauseous. Someone please give Jiaoji a job in a military ops planning and command center! He sure comes across as an expert itching to be in there.
His knowledge isn’t vague bravado — it’s rooted in real geopolitical complexity that most commentators never bother to unpack. The Middle East isn’t some black-and-white “terrorists vs occupiers” cartoon; it’s a century-plus legacy of competing nationalisms, colonial fallout, regional power politics and strategic competition that literally shapes world energy and security architecture.
Where most armchair analysts — and even some so-called “military minds” — saw only insurgents to be shot at while protecting occupiers, he actually studies the history, the enduring structural forces, and the countless actors driving this conflict’s persistence. That kind of breadth and depth makes average takes look kindergarten by comparison.
Savenaca Narube is not associated with coups and has not been involved in corruption as well as has always voiced against corruption. I think he deserves a chance in next General Elections.
What a joke. Has Narube ever voiced his concerns on the blatant molestation of the rule of law by Rabuka and his clowns? Has he spoken out on the COI report and the inaction by Rabuka on suspending Temo and others who are implicated?
Narube is the kind who will feed off others and careful about what he says so as not to ruin his chances of winning a seat – if he gets a chance to join the current coalition, he will sell his soul to do it.
Biman Prasad, hands down.
He’s very brave and dignified in the face of all the false allegations and vicious accusations.
He’s not Rabuka’s eunuch as some claim.
He’s not the worst finance minister in Fiji’s history—he’s the best.
Graham, if you pick anyone else it’s bullshit and you’re a fool.
Thank you, Biman. Anything you say.
The list is long and the talent pool deep:

He seems to be going on a charm offensive. Appearing on the cover of countless magazines (nikua talks about his incredible life) and rescuing pigeons etc.
Why does the dalit dog not just go away.
You must be smoking some hard core strong shit – its defintely impaired your ability to think rationally. Get some rest.
Baimaan may not be Rabuka’s eunuch, but he definitely is the coaltion BITCH and a prostitute – available to anyone and for anything provided the price is right.
Easy.
Judy Compain.
I love how she can make public servants and politicos look like complete useless incompetents with proofs to spare.
Vinaka
Jone Valjone
Judy Compain it is.
Mind you, in bitchi it does not take much to get public servants and politicians to look like complete useless incompetents.
Judy Compain.
Lynda Tabuya, because she does the best bush dance. Ask her and I am sure she will agree she deserves it.
Bush fire 🔥 season is here.
PM said to do some backside gardening to ease the cost of living crisis.
Brilliant idea to boost the economy by a small minded moron with gold rolex, $250,000 income, free house, free telephone/internet, free vehicle, free travels, free hotels, free chow – all leeched from the public purse writ large.
Graham Davis.
For his persistence.
Now there’s an idea. Do a Donald Trump and give it to myself. 🙂
would that not be neopotism?
but then, you would be fitting in with these clowns
Oh dear, Daniel. No jokes in the lion’s den?
GD, as an Aussie I thought you would be onto someone taking the Mickey.
Sorry, I thought you were being serious. I guess it’s me who needs to loosen up. 🙂
CommonMan, but might need a name change to NadroMan with a brief mission statement like Viti Reset ’26
Sobbing Sashi or Crying Kiran.
Or Saintly Sashi.
Have your pick.
FCCC has got all wrong! Can’t bloody face the public to justify the rate hike and can’t listen to public for effectively consultation. Sack FCCC Board and CEO now.
Manoa Gadai is my 2025 Fijian of the Year. A man who has got spine to tell it like it is.

Alex Forwood. (rattled everyone in Fiji)
Nilesh Lal – Dialogue Fiji.
This guy has shown courage and has spoken out on issues that really matter. Can’t say the same about so many other so called defenders of human rights and democracy.
NILESH LAL…has my vote.
I totally concur. Nilesh Lal has truly punched above his weight as the Executive Director of a small but influential NGO, Dialogue Fiji. He has the galls to call out the Coalition Government for its transgressions, failures, bad governance, ethno-centric practices and demand accountability.
Where other civic society, law society and other actors have failed to rise to the occasion, Nilesh has taken the bull by the horn as a genuine defender of democracy, good governance, human rights and the rule of law.
Thumbs up to Nilesh Lal.
Alex Forwood. She has been a Rottweiler with a mission. A minor but sore point is she needs to proof read her comments and her crusade against the rot in Fiji will be more polished. Go get them in 2026!
The Fiji government including Rolex Rabuka, Lady Lindah, Doglah Baiman, Mammoth Manoa are more scared of three individuals, Graham Davis, Victor Lal and Alex Forwood, than Fiji’s entire pissweak media and stupid journalists put together. These three are keeping the bastards honest while the Fiji media are sucking the teats of government to secure contracts. Fiji journalists are a pathetic lot.
Alex Forwood.
The trio of
1. Alex Forwood – the complainant
2. Judge Justice Ashton-Lewis
3. Counsel Assisting Janet Mason
for their roles in the Commission of Inquiry to inquire into the appointment of Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption Commissioner Barbara Malimali , should make the shortlist.
The other name in the shortlist ought to be Christopher Pryde, who fought and is still fighting the system, stacked against him.
There should be a special award for Rolex Rabuka. “Arsehole of the Decade.”
This bastard is an utter failure, a parasite, and curse on the nation and its people.
The ITaukei no one but themselves to blame for supporting this piece of shit:
ITAUKEIS plead with Rabuka, STEP ASIDE NOW!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
77 AND STILL CLINGING TO POWER
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At 77, Rabuka refuses to let go. Advised by enablers, not statesmen, he has bloated Cabinet to over 40 ministers, bleeding taxpayers dry while families can barely cope with rising costs.
This cannot be justified.
The cabinet is fractured. Parliament numbers are weak. Rabuka will never reach 75% or a two-thirds majority, no matter how many ministers he appoints. The so-called “constitutional crisis” is nothing but fear politics. No constitution—past or present, including 2013—has ever threatened iTaukei land.
So what is the real agenda?
The GCC should stop political noise and return to its true role: uniting provinces, restoring discipline, discouraging crime, and strengthening moral values.
Rabuka claims to be a man of God, yet openly accepts and displays corrupt benefits without shame. Is that biblical leadership? Is that moral authority?
This is serious. Fiji needs leadership rooted in integrity, humility, and accountability.
Rabuka must either answer the spiritual call he preaches—or step aside and exit Parliament.
It is interesting to note that the Commissioner of Police said he would resign if any evidence is found of his involvement in the drug trade. What is interesting is he has not denied involvement in the drug trade.
Looks like he is hedging his bets. But then this is Fiji and things are done differently here as we all know. Fijians are God’s gift to the world.
