# DEVELOPING STORY. THE PARTY DUO AT THE ODPP DIG IN (UPDATED WED PM)

Posted on January 15, 2025 40 Comments

Desperate for the party not to end

An astonishing front-page story in today’s Fiji Times suggests that the Acting DPP, Nancy Tikoisuva, and her deputy, the Deputy DPP, John Rabuku, are not intending to meekly yield to the authority of the reinstated DPP, Christopher Pryde, who is scheduled to recommence work next Monday having been cleared of misbehaviour.

The Fiji Times reveals that a “formal complaint against Christopher Pryde has been lodged with FICAC” – the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption, whose internal workings are currently being dissected by the Commission of Inquiry headed by Justice David Ashton Lewis into the allegedly “rotten” circumstances surrounding the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner.

Malimali, Nancy Tikoisuva and John Rabuku are as thick as thieves – close friends who can be expected to fight like scalded cats to protect their positions. So are Nancy Tikoisuva and John Rabuku using their relationship with Malimali to try to prevent Christopher Pryde from returning? It sure looks that way.

According to the Fiji Times, we will know more when an official statement is issued today. But if Christopher Pryde has been referred to FICAC immediately after being exonerated and reinstated, is anyone going to see this as anything other than a crude power play to thwart his return?

In an accompanying story, Nancy Tikoisuva is defiant about her position and that of her Deputy – the “Crooning Stallion” who she appointed after John Rabuku was forced by three Supreme Courts judges to vacate the role of Acting DPP because of his record of professional misconduct.

Nancy seems very sure of herself, telling the Fiji Times that she and Rabuku are safe no matter what Christopher Pryde decides. So sure of herself that she can only be doing so with the authority of the Chief Justice and head of the Judicial Services Commission, Salesi Temo, who – along with the former attorney general, Siromi Turaga – has been humiliated by Pryde’s exoneration.

Is the reported referral to FICAC – for reasons that are yet to be explained – a last-ditch attempt to nail the DPP? We shouldn’t be in the least bit surprised. Nancy Tikoisuva and John Rabuku have been literally living it up at the taxpayer’s expense in the 21 months since Christopher Pryde was suspended. Were they ever going to meekly stand aside and allow him to return? Not on your Nancy.

Most Fijians are fed up of the upheaval in the offices of state in the criminal justice system and are craving for a return to stability as the law and order situation in the country steadily deteriorates. Christopher Pryde has made it clear that his first priority is to work closely with the new Police Commissioner, Rusiate Tudravu, to confront that challenge head on. But it seems that his two subordinates are determined that isn’t going to happen.

The problem with any formal complaint to FICAC is that it automatically triggers an investigation. So it appears that the DPP will be returning next Monday to FICAC investigators crawling all over whatever it is that Nancy Tikoisuva has complained about to her friend, Barbara Malimali. What could it possibly be when a tribunal of three judges has already cleared Christopher Pryde of misbehaviour after he was suspended for the best part of two years? Shouldn’t this complaint have been lodged and examined by them?

Whatever the merits of that complaint, they are bound to be lost in the inevitable furore that having been cleared and poised to return, Christopher Pryde is being crash-tackled by his own senior staff using their improper relationship with the FICAC Commissioner. Are they acting for others further up the food chain and especially Salesi Temo, who falsely accused the DPP of being a thief? We shall see.

But the fallout from all of this is a major political headache for the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, who issued a statement welcoming Pryde back only to be pole-axed by a fresh scandal at the ODPP just when his government desperately needs stability, with the clock ticking relentlessly down to the election next year and with the PM very much on the back foot.

Just when stability raises its head under the New Order, something else emerges to dent public confidence in the integrity of the institutions of state under the Coalition. And that is very bad news not just for the government but for any Fijian who believes in proper process and the rule of law.

Nancy with a poe face (with apologies to Frank Sinatra, who sings of Nancy with the Smiling Face)

Bosom buddies…

Desperate for the party not to stop…

And with a close friend at FICAC who is still Commissioner despite being under the microscope able and willing to apply the blowtorch to the reinstated DPP.

A criminal justice system in perpetual turmoil and a government in perpetual crisis.

UPDATE: WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON

As telegraphed, the ODPP issues its statement announcing its formal complaint to FICAC.

And Christopher Pryde’s withering response…

So……the truly corrupt little gang concocts a story, aided by the embarrassed Temo, to hatch yet another plan to force Mr Pryde out of his position and leave them in control.

Unable to look him in the eye on his return and not wanting to lose their highly paid jobs, anything that might throw another round of suspicion on the good guy will do.

Anybody that thought that this matter was over was dreaming. The gang has been beaten but are still in a position to cause mischief and will carry on with this until Mr Pryde throws in the towel. And they get what they set out to do all those many months ago.

They are a despicable excuse for human beings and should have been held accountable for their behaviour and removed from their positions as soon as Mr Pryde was exonerated.

    But, hey……this is FIJI !!!

Predictable band of cluster flucks continue the primate and primitive race-based behavior. This cut/paste is merely to illustrate the racist bastards cannot be trust for sh!t:

Start– 7We all wish the substantive all the best from the horror show put on by al dunderheads and lackeys in government at great expense to.the nation, both in monetary and credibility terms.

However, this is not over yet. There will be a fallout.

Shameless people like siromi, Snake slr, Temo, Leung, Malimali, Rabuku, Nancy, and the 10-odd ministers facing FICAC won’t meekly accept a defeat of this gravity. No. CP will return (if he does) to a hostile office and government.

CP is being lured (again) into a set up (trap). They will either arrest him and slap new (charge(s), or ask him to carry out outlandish orders.

And if indeed CP returns to Gunu house, he will be tasked with prosecuting….you guessed it, ASK and JVB.

The other scenario churning in sh×t for brains troupe is based on pure hope that CP will take his money and run. He has suffered enough.

Bottom line no one in the government, judiciary, and state house can be trusted as far as one can spit. They want him out and this time will find a way to fire him.

Of course CP is nobody’s fool.

There is no leadership left anywhere.
The Police, Women’s NGOs, The Government, and the DPPs office has gone to the dogs.
The whole country wreaks of corruption and bad governance.
I am telling all my friends and colleagues to stay away from Fiji. Not that they didn’t know to do that after the Virgin Air crew rape saga.

I have lost faith in this country. Nothing to see and nothing to prosper from.

GD. Please everyone get this into your thick heads…the puppet master in all of this is ALWAYS the evil baku rabuka. He is the ultimate chameleon, pretender, the duplicitous evil bastard that instigated and controls everything while feigning ignorance. He would rather says things like ” i don’t know, I am not aware” and be subject to ridicule then be connected to or be held responsible for all the chaos that’s happening in Fiji.

All you idiots just don’t get it. Rabuka is always the master schemer behind all illegal and criminal chaos that we have been subjected to over the years. What else do you expect from the guy who has blamed God, ratu mara, the itaukei community, the indo fijian community, the international community, the military, the police, his political oppenents, his political allies, the chiefs, his brain , his memory, and his ignorance and other ridiculous excuses to get away with all his evil scheming over the past almost 4 decades.

He does this because he doenst want to accept responsibility or to be held accountable for anything…even when it’s bleeding obvious that he was behind something…like the mutiny etc. He knows he can easily get away with this evil because there’s a sizeable group of racist itaukei and some very stupid uncle Tom indo fijains who he’s been able to brainwash with his poison over the years.

I’m not at all surprised about moves to shit all over Christopher Pryde. I had predicted that rabuka had very begrudgingly accepted the tribunals finding only after he had tried for more than week to somehow circumnavigate the decision. And when he failed to find a way he gave instructions to Temo and his bunch of clowns at ficac and dpp’s office to cook something new up on Pryde…. all the while making statements about how Pryde should come back and his pay restored etc etc. Always making sure that he always looked like the good guy…or the unaware guy….but never the bad guy.

Pryde getting shafted again was bleedingly obvious. Rabuka was never going to have him back as dpp. Why do you think Temo was rushed and sworn in as CJ? Fiji’s own home grown Satan from Cakaudrove knows everything, controls everything, plans everything and instructs every evil demon in his army to do his bidding…all the while feigning concern and ignorance. One dead giveaway is that the more he talks gibberish in his put on timber voice the more u can make out that hes sprouting some more new bullshit. Can’t you bastards see this? Are u idiots so blind? Did u really think he would let Pryde stroll back in and resume his work with rabuku and nancy? Did Pryde really think this?

Our home grown Satan is always at working scheming and planning on how to survive and hang on to power..he’s been doing it for 4 decades..so he has a lot of experience. He is the kind that thinks he will live forever and that he is too smart to be held accountable for all his evil needs, simply because he knows there are thousands of his gullible lap dogs who will always believe his bullshit…no matter how big or obvious the bullshit is.

Open your eyes people…Fiji will never be a decent country with decent people and a decent law and order and economic and social situation until Rabuka is dead. Until then just grin and bear Rabuka’s evil and his evil supporters doing evil things as planned and instructed by him.

BTW…has anyone noticed how the new look, shaven and thinner rabuku is looking more and more emaciated and down right devilish…have a look at his latest photos…all he needs is a tail and a couple of pointy ears.

Nancy Tikoisuva, John Rabuku, Sailesi Temo, and Barbara Malimali need to go. They will continue to collude to make life difficult for those who may legally come in their way. They are in revenge mode and not for the good of the country.

These are the people who have tarnished the image of the judiciary and government. The reputation of the judiciary, ODPP, Judicial Services Commission, and FICAC needs to be restored and protected as per the provisions of the constitution.

The government is responsible for creating unfair and questionable appointments just to intimidate the previous government.

Rabuka must rise above revenge mindset and move on to claim Fiji’s reputation that it deserves.

If these people continue in their positions, the situation in Fiji will worsen.

Let’s see if Rabuka sees the light.

Nancy the nutcase claims that her “substantive appointment as Director of Public Prosecutions” remains. Isn’t she “acting” DPP? How can she hold the substantive post of Director when in fact Pryde is the substantive post holder of that post. The moment Pryde takes office he needs to get rid of Nancy, investigate Rabuku and others ensuring compliance with proper internal policies, SOPs, including financial management noting that lavish travels, parties, conferences, and events were organized in his absence.

The FICAC drama will continue unless that character less clown is booted out.

They lack understanding of anything. The Fijians do as they please. I have been seeing Fijians on social media posts just been barbaric. Fighting in streets, during the day and at night. Looking poor and dirty. Kids in villages living on poverty especially in 2025 while the kids everywhere are so advanced. Instead of fixing these issues, the govt ministers, officers are engaged in power plays and living the good life.

I am not sure how other nationalities / races feel safe in Fiji.

The Fijians seem to want to run Fiji as they see fit. However, they don’t seem to be the sharpest tools in the shed. This may be a very racist comment but this is apparent from their behaviour. They consider Indians to be cunning but it looks like they are, given how they act. It takes one to know one. They aren’t the peace loving, happy people. They only are if money is handed to them. I often wonder what will happen to Fiji if all the other races leave Fiji, which seems to be their desire so they can rule and run their own country.

Things have fallen apart under the Fijian rule and certainly will fall apart if all the other races leave. Then they will go unashamedly begging for money around the world using their fake bula smiles (no understanding that it’s the taxpayers in those countries who are working & paying for them, their selfishness and stupidity). Fiji has so much potential and has been driven backwards by self serving people both locally and from abroad. Taking the money and doing very little in their jobs.

Flawed legal analysis by a third-rate lawyer who struggles with even basic English. The Constitution could not be clearer: An acting DPP is only required if the substantive DPP’s position is vacant, or if he/she is absent, or for some reason isn’t able to perform his/her duties. The position is not vacant, Pryde is not absent and he is able to perform the functions of the office.

Ergo — there is no need for an Acting DPP. The President does not have a say. This is basic stuff.

The arrogance of the acting DPP reveals one thing. The civil service knows, and is playing the game, because they all know that Rabuka has lost all confidence as PM. They can bypass him straight to the CJ. This is a plan that they are now putting into action by lodging a complain with their bestie, Mali2 at FICAC all because they have been made to look stupid and incompetent once Pryde was exonerated.
The worst is yet to come.

    Just an observation;
Tele tubby Kalouniwai was very quick to air his concerns when the Coalition was moving at great pace early on in 2023 as it was prosecuting, and laying off individuals from FFP.
Why is he being quiet now? Surely, as this corrupt government unravels before his very eyes on a daily basis, he has to know that the situation is only going to get worse.
What a waste of valuable tax payers money!

I had suggested earlier that Pryde’s reinstatement would become toxic because his line managers as well other judicial office holders, including ministers gave damaging evidence against him with a view to getting rid of Pryde. The favourable tribunal findings had therefore created an atmosphere of toxicity and Pryde’s return would lead to tensions and less harmonious working relationship all round. This was so obvious especially when the chief justice called Pryde a thief. But despite that statement against Pryde he was still cleared of all wrong doing. Plus Pryde is a Vulagi and according the Vulagis are no longer welcome in Fiji.

It’s still not too late for Pryde to negotiate a “settlement” package and leave with his head held high before the scumbags of the untouchable iTaukei gangsters get rid of him on some trumped up charges. Fiji is no longer safe but only for the iTaukei community.

They have to knock the kiwi out of his role one way or another. After all, in Rabuka’s government, the DPP role is reserved for indigenous Fijians and anyone other than that is against the coalition’s racist agenda.

Tikoisuva and Rabuku know that Pryde will not bow to these racist thugs and act impartially. Their fear is their own failings will be exposed as Pryde sweeps out all the goons from his office to restore respect and professionalism.

Tikoisuva believes she is the DPP and forgets she was appointed as the Acting DPP. Rabuku and Tikoisuvas collusion to cover up a lot of things happening within the DPP during their tenure is about to all come to light, and this move to have Chris falsely charged for something (again) is another clear indication of this.

This is a circus. These people have materially gained from Pryde’s suspension, and have clear conflict of interest in lodging this complaint, as they stand to majorly lose out with his reinstatement and return to office. The media statement they released, covered in the FBC story below, even states that “ a meeting to review Pryde’s file was held by the senior management team which included the Acting DPP, the Deputy DPP and the three Assistant DPPs”. Under whose directive was this personnel file review done? And do the senior management team have the authority to review the personnel file of the sitting DPP? This is clearly a malicious filing, full of conflicts of interest, which will be reviewed by Rabuku’s bosom buddy Malimali as Commissioner of FICAC. It is purely self interest, protecting themselves from any repercussions of their action over the last two years, as any action by Pryde against them will be reported as interference in an ongoing FICAC investigation and intimidation of complainants. Could our free media please ask these people hard questions and push back when they utter falsities and don’t answer the question. FICAC could even drag this out until the end of his contract, tying his hands with regards to legitimate performance issues etc of staff in the office. More tax payer funds down the drain.

nfp can easily publicly pressure the coalition to stop this nonsense and simply fire these people for misconduct and/or poor performance or something.

Surely he can slap a FICAC complaint back on the SMT for abuse of office being that they “audited” his personnel file, that being a superior officer, which should have only been conducted by JSC. Not that a FICAC complaint would achieve much because of how corrupt that institution is now.

In what universe do “direct reports” get access to personnel files of their managers?

I don’t know why I’m surprised. I should know better, but it still bloody flabbergasts me that idiots like Nancy and co will go on public record sprouting off this crap and having absolutely no self awareness to realise they are being outright racists bullies. DVC.

I just can’t comment anymore on these issues. The shitf**kery and the donkeyness for the coalition and the morons they have put into government offices is never ending.

Its like a never ending series. 1 season after another. Someone has to stand up to this government and show them the door soon.

The unfortunate thing is there are it seems no principled men left in Fiji. What a waste pile we are becoming by the day. Its stench makes me vomit. What the hell man.

Look what we have become….the land is disgusted with its government and its idiotic office holders. Can’t see an ounce of patriotism, leadership or national pride.

Yawn, nothing new with these guys’ latest drama. All shameful “enablers” at some point in Fiji’s coup history…

“The problem with any formal complaint to FICAC is that it automatically triggers an investigation”

    Wait, for realsies?!

I have a pending matter with hundreds of pages of evidence I filed almost a decade ago with those assclowns(I said what I said!) and they don’t even have the gumption to respond!

Go there in person and that drongo Aslam was “busy” every day!

Pryde was right to make it a public embarrassment coz that’s the only thing that motivates people there. Sub-judice bub-judice!

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
