The Joe Biden of Fiji states the bleeding obvious – that the prissy New Zealand Foreign Minister was crazy to side with Sitiveni Rabuka’s government in blatantly violating Fijian law in its treatment of a New Zealand citizen.
Winston Peters‘s petulant attack on Christopher Pryde for not complying with the letter-writing etiquette that Miss Peters imposes on her constituents in Tauranga has been an astonishing PR own goal.
One flash of temper in Tokyo without informing his ministry back in Wellington has got the Foreign Minister into all sorts of bother, not least with any Kiwi who’d expect him to do his job of assisting someone in Christopher Pryde’s position.
Now we have the Fijian Prime Minister and Foreign Minister practicing a new kind of megaphone diplomacy. Advertising the poor judgment and mental state of his hapless Kiwi counterpart.
Doesn’t Sleepy Siti realise that this whole episode reflects much more poorly on Winston Peters than someone who is desperately pleading for assistance because his income has been unlawfully terminated and he can no longer defend himself?
With friends like these…

The NZ Foreign Minister should be even more upset that Rabuka has highlighted his Pontius Pilate act in cutting Christopher Pryde loose for domestic political consumption.

It all begs the question. Is Winston Peters the Foreign Minister of New Zealand or of Fiji? A tame little lackey in the Beehive? It sure looks like it.
did you read the entire story or just the headlines?? Rabuka is saying Winston was mad because his name was used.
Precisely.
Hahaha
Precisely
Did Viti Dina understand the article
It is obvious that Winston Peters only acts in the best interests of Winston Peters.
We all have seen it in his deals with parties so that he can be in government depending on which way the wind blows at the time.
Why Kiwis vote for him and his party is a matter for them. But one thing Kiwis do not realise after decades is that Winston Peters acts for Winston Peters not for NZ.
Letters are cc’d to interested parties all the time, but now we all know that Winston Peters is special – letters should only be addressed specifically to him.
Awwww, little princess Peters, so sorry you wet your diapers and no body bothered to check, awwwww. Naughty boy Rabuka, why didn’t you check on little princess whilst you were with him in Tokyo? He’s probably got bad nappy rash that’s why he’s so mad.
Poor liddle wynston mad as a box of frogs because no one strokes his ego no more. The Māori who doesn’t speak te reo Māori.
Don’t be too upset whinny wynston-your political time is near.
People who had high expectations from Winston Peters are either stupid or naive.. just look at his history in Politics in New Zealand. He is a man who loves himself only. One only has to look at his interactions with the journalists to judge how arrogant and egoistic person he is. Pryde thought that the NZ Government would assist him.. yes, they would have assisted him if it was the previous Governments, whether it was National or Labour. But with the coalition Government headed by Luxon, DONT EXPECT ANYTHING !!!
My neighbors dog was barking for sometime without any reason.
We were patiently waiting for him to go quite and he finally did.
We are all happy.
Hope Graham you will follow suit.
You were told Winston will his hands of this Pryde saga.
Bring stories about what is happening in Australia.
I read news yesterday how a dad and daughter lost their lives at a train station.
Very sad story.
How Australia is preparing for Olympics in Paris.
Please!
Pauline, do keep taking the tablets. We all understand and send you our lolomas. But just so you know, this is a political blog about Fiji. Plenty of other websites for the rest.
@pauline -yes, as GD is often at pains ro explain: if you dint like what you rwad here -you are welcomw to go away. Donr think its weird to force yourself to be here when you dont like it? So, yeah, plenty other places to get news of Olympic games and other news. For each his own.
I will say this- it is horrible and cruel how fijians treat animals in Fiji. Dogs bark for many reasons, never for no reason. Dogs have lived side by side with humans for eons as the most loyal and loving companions who know compassion from cruelty.
Dogs are one hundred times more times loyal than the so-called humans in this most corrupt coalition of the unwilling, who have weaponized racism, done nothing, are unthinking, lie, cheat, lining their pockets, and lacking in imagination or creativity to improve the lives of poor voters who put them there.
So please dont go away mad, just away now.
Pauline
Numerous Indo Fijian Taxi drivers also murdered under Rabuka and Biman Government.
Pauline is an idiot, but she did not know………until now.
Forgot to add – how many Paulines are there in Fiji? That is, people who are not aware they are idiots.
And then they all wonder why Fiji is where it is!
High time than become one.
Join my name sake’s party,One nation.
If you win,you will be protected by parliamentary privileges for comments you make day in and day out ,my dear friend.
All these distractions from the PALM Summit are annoying. Some important decisions that will have a devastating impact in Fiji and change the slow pace of life if the Pacific Islands for ever were taken. One that stands out is the decision for Fiji and other Pacific Islands to support the IIMF’s push for a Central Bank Digital Currency.
This means we will ditch cash and all switch to digital currencies, with each person having a digital wallet at the Central Bank, and everybody carrying a card to swipe instead of cash.
Only two months ago Rabuka rightfully put a stop to govt departments going cashless saying our people especially those in rural areas are not ready for this, I wonder whether his advizers Peter Wise, Lesi Korovavala and Waqabaca know what they doing when they advize the PM to endorse the CBDC policy for central banks?
It is part of the globalist plan and in direct conflict with their govt’s current policy. Through CBDC’s govt, like China, will be able to control the population through social credit scores thst links back to their behaviour.
Winston Peters can go jump as far as I am concerned, Fiji media should not allow themselves to be sidetracked and start asking questions to Rabuka about decisions taken at the PALM meeting I. Japan.
Graham
I do admire you for your views but sometimes they are so clown like, misogynist, colonial at times ( don’t worry i do it as an Indian) white knows best or actually you being in that elite group ( you know which group)know best. I like your cause but imagine this, me as a lawyer, got a job in the Bahamas in my own right which happened to be in their government and I was ousted. Why should us as the Australian taxpayer give me money for my case or support me? I can easily move on esp when I see the political issues ( in my right mind I would but they don’t and they aren’t there to help the people. They at
are there for themselves not to help the ppl but to be foreign superiors and attend endless parties / be dignitaries.. a life they could never imagine in Aust ir NZ .
Given Pryde’s position, that would make me leave that regime. I don’t think there are many fighters on ground except keyboard warriors for FJ.Further Pryde wasnt employee of the NZ Govt or representing NZ so why should the NZ taxpayers get him out of the deal he personally entered into.
Expriates go to FJ as the great deal they have in FJ is great vs the risks. They are nobodies in their country and everythingin FJ. In Fiji you will be the ‘ deal’ invited to functions , have this great life and as an older man, get a lovely young thing (you know your mates have esp springing the cc and I am this or that here and nothing overseas rather than a lonely lawyer drinking too much burning the midnight oil).
The regime was and still is awful. you have pointed it out many times but yet all of you ‘ elites’ participated in this all. The good times made to look like you are the king. Overseas you were nothing. I get it but you shouldn’t also pretend you are so innocent.
NZ taxpayers should not fund Pryde.. ridiculous…as you will be highly aware, many expats and alot of men go there for many opportunities.. so did Pryde. can he not get a job anywhere else? I would think NZ DPP or the various state DPP or ODPP in Aust would have grabbed him. Perhaps he would be lucky to be a snr lawyer. Let alone a principal or anything above. Pryde can sue his employer in the usual ways. Unfortunately that will not be possible as you can’t argue or make sense of the Fijians..my father always said it..their mind flips. So I wonder why so many people want to argue with the Fijian mindset..leave them. My father was right.. you can’t argue with them..it’s like arguing with mental patients..leave them.. every indian and non Fijian should leave. Let them sort it out . That’s what you should be arguing..for nations to take everyone except the Fijians. From what I gather from your posts, Fiji seems like an awful African country.
So you can’t argue with Fijians, why do you & why does anyone bother…why waste your life.. for me it’s amusing. People yelling being so awful rude degoratory bullying .. then I think I am thankful I am in a better environment. Away from the bullying thugs.
You’re right. Colonel Blimp has had enough. I AM wasting my life. Take a stand for the rule of law and you’re a white colonial relic. Time to pack up and go.
“Amused” is another idiot who does not know he is an idiot…….until now.
So all the oppressed people in a country should just pack up and leave?
What an idiot argument. Makes me wonder what this person’s children grow up to be, cowards? Imagine teaching your children to pack up and leave. That is what his father taught him obviously.
And, mate, what do you think, Fiji’s problems will be solved once all the Indians pack up and leave? Yes, I know, then that will not be your problem, right?
You are amused because you are an idiot. Your upbringing has had problems and that is the fault of your parents and now you will teach your children the same and so the idiocy perpetuates, and then you all wonder why Fiji is where it is!
@amused, what kind of lawyer are you, man? More than 500 words to say so little. Perhaps you missed the classes on succinct/concise writing. Whatever.
Here is the point: person A has (note, present tense) a 7-year employment contract offered and prepared by party B (the Fijian govt).
Party B no longer wishes for person A to continue in the position s/he was hired for. Party B will have included options written in the contract to protect both parties and how to address such a situation: examples may include dismissal for egregious conduct, non-performance or inability to do the work, and/or a combination of the above.
In general, an employee does not waive his/her basic universal human rights to be treated in a fair and transparent manner to adjudicate the matter. It’s nothing special but expected of any employer.
Otherwise, an unfairly dismissed employee may seek monetary reparations/redress for the remaining years of the contract. In this instant, he is suspended.
You should know better from your experience in the Bahamas.
The current DPP was suspended 16 months ago. The employee should continue to be paid until the alleged transgression(s) are mutually settled. Common-sense reasoning.
Your personal jibe at Graham is sadly misplaced. He has long championed Fiji’s cause. He is no fence sitter. GD calls it as he sees it, based on legitimate information obtained/available to any journalist -not just to an award-winning journalist.
I am not trying to curry favor here, as I have no dog in this fight. However, you are saying everyone with any sense should simply throw up our collective arms and give up. It shows your shallowness and self-centeredness. Not to mention insulting.
No wonder they let you go.
Immunity Rabuka and Whinny Winstone are of the same ilk.
Both foreign affsirs ministers …e cept one is a military madman, the other just mad.!!
