# TIME TO MAN UP, BIMAN, AND FACE DOWN THE BULLY PM

Posted on May 27, 2024 24 Comments

Now here’s a turn-up, Fiji. Sitiveni Rabuka is threatening to “take action” against the NFP for not supporting its Coalition partners’ unconscionable increases in MPs pay and conditions.

He doesn’t say precisely what action he intends to take. But fancy the Prime Minister threatening Biman Prasad for not diving into the fires of hell with him, having forced the NFP leader to eat a shit sandwich pretty much ever since they forged their ill-fated Coalition before the last election.

Biman Prasad has caused untold damage to his own political position by keeping silent about the rest of the Coalition’s chronic excesses – the “vulagi” debate that has incensed many NFP supporters, the shameful workplace ethnic cleansing in the civil service and offices of state, the woeful standards of governance including the scandalous conduct of Lynda Tabuya and Aseri Radrodro and repeated assaults on the Constitution and the rule of law in Fiji.

And now the “Snake” is behaving like some standover gangster – threatening to penalise the NFP for finally taking a stand for principle by not going along with the orgy of self-indulgence spearheaded by the Queen of Tarts that is now destroying the Coalition in the eyes of every right-thinking Fijian.

It is time for Biman Prasad to stop allowing himself to be treated like Sitiveni Rabuka’s resident political catamite and start acting like a man rather than an old man’s plaything. He needs to call the PM’s bluff by telling him that he will not be intimidated for taking a stand for principle against the unconscionable self-interest and greed of the PAP and SODELPA.

The Fijian people have had enough of this farce. Biman Prasad was elected to keep the bastards honest. That’s what he has finally started to do and that’s what the people expect. So he can redeem himself and start the long, slow task of rebuilding the NFP’s fortunes by refusing to accept any more bullying and humiliation and by telling Sitiveni Rabuka that enough is enough.

With FijiFirst in disarray, the way is clear for the NFP to start asserting itself to recapture some of the middle ground in politics. But it won’t do so by allowing itself to be continually sidelined, bullied and treated with gross disrespect. “Baimaan” Prasad’s chronic enabling and appeasement is only encouraging more bullying and disrespect and it will only stop when he uses the power of his five seats that keeps the Coalition in government to bring the PM into line.

Who the hell is Sitiveni Rabuka to threaten the NFP like this when alone of the parties, it did the right thing by rejecting the grotesque spectacle of snouts digging deeper into the parliamentary trough when so many Fijians are hurting.

As with any bully, the Prime Minister must be faced down or the NFP is finished. It may, of course, be finished already but the least it can do is to start conducting itself with dignity.

From the front page of Tuesday’s Fiji Times:

From Tuesday’s Fiji Sun:

Biman’s response on CFL-Fiji Village:

What did we say about the dangers of a wages explosion and higher inflation that makes the cost of living crisis worse?

It’s on.

Biman the Runt badly needs the Charles Atlas treatment to make a man out of him so he can stop Bully Boy Siti from kicking sand in his face.

Time for some “dynamic tension” and for the NFP to side with the Fijian people against a corrupt and self-indulgent rabble.

And to think that Grubsheet was once a lone critic amid a chorus of “give them a chance”. The Queen of Tarts and her Trouser Snake have achieved the miraculous. Given (some of) the mainstream media back its mojo.

Except, of course, for the Ostrich of the media, Fred Wesley, who is still talking about anything other than what the entire nation is talking about.

Come on Motibhai Patels. This has gone on for long enough. We need someone at the nation’s traditional newspaper of record with their finger on the pulse, not someone with no discernible journalistic pulse.

Get rid of him.

It is all heading for a train smash at lightning speed for this Major general “I gave myself the authority to do the coup” Siti Rambo.

He hates Baiman. For anyone who was watching how the two were parading themselves together prior to the election. Firstly Baiman could not stop himself from talking so much and Rambo wouldn’t talk but hated not be the centre of attraction when Baiman took the mic. Secondly when Baiman talked Rambo’s eyes would fill up with hate for this guy – you could see it. Amazing how they have stayed together for so long. The 3 legged stool is about to collapse if such statements of actions to be taken are openly being made.its not the pay rise no vote, it’s the pent up hate that will end up in separation for the two. Baiman is also rubbing it in as much as he can now having voted no. The one good that he has done is printed in bold and in colour on Baimans CV now.

Rambo will take the same action he took on his minister of sex and drugs. Literally nothing he can do apart from raising his blood pressure and increasing his dumbbell bicep curls from 2.5kg to 5kg per arm.

Meanwhile commentary on Lady Minister for sex and drugs Facebook page has completely dried out. If anything they are disappearing in number of comments seen on the previous day.

Delete button operations requires a salary larger than the permanent secretary, $500 per day sitting allowance, business class travel and full personal use and permanent abuse govt gadgets. Delete button operations has become a full time job of a minister under this government.

Biman should be seen having lunch with Aiyaz and Koya. That will send Rabuka a message, a PM who can”t even reshuffle his cabinet, trying to threaten a coalition partner.

    The so called “I” man.
    He is a fraud.
    Top manipulator.
Good. Now the Fijians who voted for him can see his true snake self.
This is what we meant about 1987.
The only thing missing is a bathshed and guns.
    Change is here.
Pat yourselves on your back Fiji for the f**kery Biman et al created.

Just a reminder to Biman, there are certain principles in politics one should be prepared to die for — MPs voting hefty pay rises for themselves while govt preaches the need for fiscal restraint crosses the line.

If nothing is done Biman loses all credibility.

No body will believe him anymore. Already I unconsciously reach for the remote when ever he opens his mouth on tv.

This has also extended to Mr Inaction himself, Pio Tikoduadua.

As for Cry baby, Sashi, forever asking for forgiveness, does she ever say things that make sense?

Going into coalition with the snake has been disastrous for NFP.

It lost its way when it turned away from its principle of not going into partnership with coup makers.

It’s time to restore that principle and go down in history as the party that stood up for a higher principle.

I am fairly sure that Rabuka will back off on the whole salary increase business after such an outcry.
The sad thing though is nothing ever changes.
Before the 2006 coup, Fiji was back in the familiar position of only the chiefs profiting from the boom times back then, encouraged by their politicians, with no regard or help to the rest of Fiji.
Now it seems to be heading back in this direction.
Where are the young , motivated, well educated Fijians to take over from all these old pensioners like Rabuka ?
What a gift this has been for him in his dotage.
Maybe increased salaries will encourage a younger, braver, dynamic and more tuned in Fijians to embrace a public service career, but this hypocritical move was not the way to do this.
All a bit sad when we hoped for real change.
Thank you, Graham for your ever entertaining insights and commentary…we get so little from the regular news channels.

Vinakavakalevu NFP and the magnificent 7 for standing up against the proposed salary increase – we should all care for the poor people in our society and channel that 8.1 Million per annual for 4 years to the modification and standardization of the CWM Hospital to meet an international standard or commence a housing affordability models to our poor population in the squatter settlements of Jittu estate, Wailea, Cunningham, Khalsa Road, Newtown, etc.

I am still hoping that some paramount chiefs will speak up against these atrocities. They were and have been brought back to look after the itaukei, other minorities and the country. I believe 2 turaga ni koros from the west have voiced their concerns. Still waiting as I am sure are a lot of citizens.

We can bet our last dollar all this talk about Rabuka taking action against NFP is empty talk. He can do sweet bugger all. And already Biman seems to be lashing out at FFP rather than Rabuka and the greedy 40 thieves.
The other interesting point to note is whether he has the balls to take action against Agni Deo Singh, who after learning of the huge public onslaught, has come out with the feeble excuse of ‘pressing the wrong button’ and blaming the recent upgrade of infrastructure in Parliament.
As a former teacher and executive of FTU, I wonder how he would feel if students taking exams suddenly said the instructions were ambiguous or they did not know whether to write with a blue or red pen! Agni Deo Singh knew exactly what he was doing, trying to sit on the fence to appease both his Party and trade union friends and is now insulting the Fijian people through this lame excuse.
This is the critical test for the NFP Leader, both standing up to the snake, Rabuka, and to one of his known who really should be sacked and the way cleared for the next in line who I believe is Dr John Fatiaki who would be a fine, ethical and competent MP/Minister.

Biman has left himself totally exposed by making half baked loony decision and Rabuka is a wily fox

    1. Biman give tax holiday to foreigners not to locals. This is gonna bite his ass big time. Who told Biman to do this? It’s so dumbass.

I’m not economics professor but if you got a major company that can only make money in Fiji and can’t go anywhere you don’t give them a tax holiday especially if you are developing country. What Fiji don’t need the money!?

    2. Biman say lamb chops gonna be cheaper and then Put VAT UP! I’m not economics professor but if you put VAT up things gonna go up in price not down?

Who told Biman to do this and did they tell him if you put VAT up the price of lamb chops will be cheaper, and Biman just nod happily and say yes, great idea the price will come down, so I’m gonna put VAT up?

Then finally after 18 months of being tricked and watching all the money go, finally, finally Biman realize – oh no, all the money gone and now all MPs want more pay, I am not gonna get tricked again

Then Rabuka said I gonna sue you Biman – and guess what you can’t do anything because you been following all the bad advice and now your ass is bitten hard

That PM is a political criminal now, put away by this bunch to loot Fiji unrestricted.

Sad day and sad times. Worse still to come.

The Snake is proving to be the exact dictator his predecessor was and we all seen where Frank has ended up. So much for the promise of a New Fiji where there is freedom of expression. He cannot respect the freedom of NFP voting against a motion they are clearly against. If he thinks NFP needs to tow the line with everyone else, he is no different to Bainimarama and Khaiyum when they were in government and leading the Lave Liga squad. The same Lave liga squad who are now in opposition and wanting a pay increase as well.

Take note Fiji. This snake Rabuka, the fake Lynda Tabuya and the woman basher Aseri Radrodro need to be thrown out on the ears come next election. The way the snake is acting he isnt fazed by the backlash from the fijian public. Which means this is a cash grab. He knows his political career is done. He’s trying to grab as much cash as he can before he rides into the sunset. Mind you $320,000.00 is his base salary. You add onto that the 500 trips he makes in one year and his gross salary can reach half a million annually. Yes $500,000.00 total enumeration for this blood sucking PM. #coalitiongutter

I promise, while you guys have utterly disappointed me from day 1, i will vote for you again if you stop this circus right now.

You have to do the right thing right now. The people are on your side and your ideology.

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.
