# HIGH NOON FOR THE COALITION

Posted on April 17, 2024 24 Comments

“Blinky Bill” Gavoka has until the end of today (Wednesday) to relinquish the post of Education Minister and hand it over to the new SODELPA leader, Aseri Radrodro, or face the prospect of expulsion from the party and the parliament. Will Binky blink? It doesn’t seem remotely possible. Which means that the ball is now in the court of SODELPA’s Management Board. Bring down the government or back off.

What will happen? These guys are so mad that anything is possible. But Aseri Radrodro sure has the air of a man who expects to prevail. What game is he playing? Who knows? But Radrodro must know that the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, cannot give in to the demand that he be reinstated. It is the absolute right of any prime minister to decide who will be in his cabinet. Rabuka has sent Radrodro to the back bench and as far as the PM is concerned, that’s it.

Sitiveni Rabuka isn’t going to blink because if he does, his authority in the government and the country will be demolished. But is Radrodro prepared to go so far as to bring down the Coalition if he doesn’t get what he wants? We are about to find out.

Hands up who is revolted by the spectacle of the nation being held to ransom by a domestic violence abuser and adulterer and his gaggle of misfits? This entire showdown beggars belief. The country is in all sorts of bother and our politicians and their backroom patrons put their interests before all else.

Watch this naked power play unfold, Fiji, and despair.

Today’s Fiji Sun.

Today’s Fiji Times.

And what was this? Is Manoa Kamikamica trying to play peacemaker? Or is he plotting with Aseri Radrodro against Sitiveni Rabuka?
Radrodro’s lover got it so right. Now he is doing to the country what he did to her.
Poor Blinky. On the way out and for once, not the most mischievous animal in the forest.

This is a naked display of power hungry individuals putting themselves first as the people suffer!
I’m especially furious at the millions of dollars being spent on the GCC complex which should have been used to fix and properly equip and maintain the CWM Hospital and give medical staff a pay rise.
Is there a single Chief who understands this?
    Ratu Epenisa?

Agree! Like me you are probably one of the few who actually pay income tax in this country. It really pains me that our taxes are used to fund tribal politics and the ministerial salaries of serial fornicators. They have no shame.

“But you’re a son of Naitasiri.
    You’re like us Kadavu people.
We can fuck up the strongest
    of forces by doing something
    unpredictable. We Kadavuans
    bow to no one”

And so Delilah put Samson to sleep then in an act of treachery cut his hair, the source of his strength, and the temple came crashing down.

“We Kadavuans bow to no one.”

So, what happens today, given the PM has already made a very public statement that he’s not tucking his nuts away and will remain firm on his decision to send Aseri to the sin bin?

Does SODELPA intend to renege on their agreement and cross the floor or, try to get a vote of no confidence to oust Rabuka and replace him with someone else? God forbid they put Aseri’s name forward to be PM? Just like the Higgins/Lehrmann saga, the PM’s office sofa may become stained very quickly 🙂

However, in all seriousness, the ultimatum by SODELPA seems to indicate something very nasty is about to happen within the coalition and the people of Fiji will become the victims of its fallout.

Only a Narcissist would put their own party, their own government and their own country in this situation for a filfthy power grab. Only where inequality is condoned (gender and race) would there be enough supporters of Aseri and Rabuka’s kind that this situation has arisen.

It’s a shame for SODELPA to try and reinstate a minister like Radrodro. Instead of disciplining they have made matters worse.
It has gone personal and the pride of the Taukeis in SODELPA is fast sinking in the quicksand of no hope and no return.
    A failed leadership of RABUKA.
Stubborn as ever with lies and full of deception.
RABUKA, BAINIMARAMA , all their dogs and clowns need to be in front of a firing squad for treason or sentenced for life.
WHERE TO FROM HERE FIJI ?
Hopefully the military intervenes with a civilian leader. Have no military officers taking any positions whatsoever in the running of the country

“Hopefully the military intervenes with a civilian leader”……errr NO remember the last time this was implemented as you suggest? Qarase happened and he went on his merry way trying to be an ethno nationalist. Only to be coup’ed out by the very army commander who installed him.
Sadly Fiji is a basket case and little wee power hungry uneducated bozos have taken over Fiji much like the situation when the cats away the mice play.

Listen i-taukeis and listen carefully. You guys are “brutal” only with women and children and the occasional skinny Indians. The last time you guys (the tribes) tried to get brutal with each other, one side decided to get help from the Tongans. The Tongans then realised that the side they were helping hid behind the coconut palms and the bushes. This angered them and the “we kandavuans never bow down to anyone” and the wannabeee warriors and the “people of the lost tribe of Israel” (gosh it never ends) decided to hand the country to Britain to save themselves. The cycle returns and maybe this time the Chinese plicks will pick a side. And the Injiuns??? Why do you want to get into top government positions…. let i taukeis be and then buy them… the whites have bought them, the Chinese plicks have bought them, the Indian peanut sellers at the bus stand have bought them… if you have no hope of leaving the country, live and let live.. educate your children so they can move on…. rest fck it. Fact: i-taukeis don’t want change, they want handouts, the country will never change so don’t get involved in changing that never will be… come election time, the i-taukeis being majority will vote for anyone offering freebees wrapped in nationalism…

The smooth transition of power is the ultimate test of democracy.

Fiji should be preparing for a new govt next week, with Inia Seruiratu as PM and Radrodro as Deputy PM.

Who knows, it may turn out to be a good govt.

Fiji doesn’t need more power-hungry misfits, desperate for power and relevance.

The likes of you are used to jumping around from pan to fire, so keep your mad, psycho power games to yourselves.

The country will NOT follow suit. Period.

The Takayawas had a good name earned from Judo and their gym.

One of them then became overweight, irrelevant and frustrated.

He found similar frustrations existed with a wife basher and adulterer. Together their egos started working to completely alienate themselves from any relevance or existence in Fijian history.

“Sitiveni Rabuka isn’t going to blink because if he does, his authority in the government and the country will be demolished.”

Let’s be honest, Rambo has no credibility and integrity nor doesn he exercise authority when it matters most. The Kadavu Kalavo also demonstarted clearly that she has more authority and control than Rambo. The man cannot be trusted and I think we all can agree that whatever he says is a load of crap. Given his handling of Kadavu Kalavo’s case, it is evident that this imbecile of a PM has no morals nor ethics, let alone any authority. His removal of Aseri was more personal (Rambo slipped that out when mentioning about his daughter) in nature but disguised as a case of professional misconduct – insubordination. If he did have balls and exercised his authority, the Kalavo would have been out a long time ago but the fact is that she has him by the balls. If he did have balls, all his stooges currently facing Police and FICAC investigations would be suspended or stood down pending the outcome of an investigation.

If these clowns can suspend Pryde and others over falsely laid and fabricated allegations, then why special treatment for his stooges?

This in itself tells you a lot about the rot in the systematic removal of people based on race and religion and how nepotism, corruption., and favoritism have set in under Rambo and his bunch of clowns.

Rambo and co will do whatever they can to stay in power.

The problem with these guys is that they all want the ulitmate throne and the power that comes with it. Even within PAP they are fighting for power and leadership and some of them can’t wait for Rambo to be sidelined.

I for one look forward to the drama that’s going to unfold soon. This marriage wasn’t going to last long anyway. It’s only a matter of time – the question is who is going to screw who to get that seat. ????

This country is effed. The tribes are in the house. They can’t even manage a small village store without going bankrupt. Here they are squabbling for power to govern the nation. Yet, they have no clue on nation building and how to improve the lives of all its citizens. They have a tribal mentality that has not changed since the vulagis arrived on these shores.

    So true J!

No clue is right. Focused on their own power plays, not the people.
There is a dangerous level of arrogance and narcissism and lack of respect.

Maybe the PM has a ” surprise” move of his own. When you get too full of yourself, you are bound to lose the battle.

Tabuya and Rodrodro need to be sacked already. He knows they will F up again.

The shambles that is the current Government must be sorted out, and quickly!

Perhaps the way out is for a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister under s.94 of the Constitution. This will cause the position of the members of the Government to be put to the test. We will then see who really supports who!

Interestingly neither Fiji First or NFP have made any comment on the current PAP/SODELPA impasse. Are they staying out of it for self-preservation or are they starting to see an opportunity for them if they were to decide to vote in favor of a vote of no confidence with the possibility of securing Government. Remembering whoever is PM decides who is a Minister and who is in Cabinet. The NFP has nothing to lose either way. Given their betrayal of their electorate they would struggle to reach the threshold if an election is called early.

The countries and financial supports of Fiji are watching closely!

This government used Qarase and Brij Lal’s stories to propel their agenda. It brought all right i-taukei out and stupid Fiji Indians to drive the GCC racist movement while the Hindus drove on Islamophobia mantra.

    Now what?

Unbelievable the level to which these lot have stooped – morally and ethically! They are full of greed and lust for power. They don’t give a hoots about the people who elected them to be in office yet some numbskulls are supporting them like blind Freddy! Throw the whole lot out, they’re past their used by date, either have dementia, have loose character, are corrupt, list is endless. Citizens are watching the shit show in horror!
Maybe Aus and NZ can open their borders and give refugee status of all vulagis so they can escape this terror and nightmare of country where there is zero hope for a good future as everything is absolutely effed.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
