# FAST-TRACK TO A DUMB COUNTRY

Posted on November 29, 2024 32 Comments

It says a great deal about the lack of home-grown expertise in Fiji that the greatest living authority on the iTaukei language is a "vulagi" - the distinguished Dr Paul Geraghty, Associate Professor of Linguistics at the University of the South Pacific. As the nation from the top down wrings its hands about the miserable performance of our … [Read more...] about # FAST-TRACK TO A DUMB COUNTRY

# BOMBSHELL. DPP WITHDRAWS FROM TRIBUNAL PROCESS UNTIL HIS SALARY IS RESTORED (UPDATED THURS AM)

Christopher Pryde has released an explosive letter he has sent to the judicial Tribunal examining the allegations of misbehaviour against him, telling it that he won't be present or represented at the hearing that is finally scheduled to commence next Monday, December 2. The DPP says he cannot afford to adequately defend himself against what he … [Read more...] about # BOMBSHELL. DPP WITHDRAWS FROM TRIBUNAL PROCESS UNTIL HIS SALARY IS RESTORED (UPDATED THURS AM)

# SEVEN DAYS TO THE PRYDE TRIBUNAL HEARING. YET MANY QUESTIONS REMAIN UNANSWERED.

Posted on November 25, 2024 17 Comments

We are now a week out from the commencement of the Tribunal hearing into the allegations of misbehaviour against the DPP, Christopher Pryde, (Monday December 2), who was suspended an astonishing 20 months ago and is only now having his day in court. But will the hearing be going ahead? Because seven days out from its commencement, there are a great … [Read more...] about # SEVEN DAYS TO THE PRYDE TRIBUNAL HEARING. # YOUR TAXES AT WORK. JOHN AND NANCY LIVING IT UP AT THE ODPP’S CONFERENCE

Posted on November 23, 2024 52 Comments

It's a sign of how far standards of conduct have fallen under the Coalition that this is what occurred at the ODPP's Conference at week's end - the Deputy DPP, John Rabuku, "singing" while his ostensible boss, the Acting DPP, Nancy Tikoisuva, lolls drunkenly beside him with a stack of liquor bottles in front of her. It really is like the last … [Read more...] about # YOUR TAXES AT WORK. JOHN AND NANCY LIVING IT UP AT THE ODPP’S CONFERENCE

# MAC THE CROOK SINGS FOR HIS PARDON AGAIN (UPDATED SUNDAY)

Posted on November 23, 2024 16 Comments

The most corrupt relationship in Fiji is arguably that between the Coalition and its principal media cheerleader, the Fiji Times, which routinely ignores or distorts legitimate news unfavourable to the government and has become a strong advocate for its agenda to junk the 2013 Constitution. This effort is led by the owners of the Fiji Times - … [Read more...] about # MAC THE CROOK SINGS FOR HIS PARDON AGAIN (UPDATED SUNDAY)

# CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART TWO (UPDATED FRI PM)

Posted on November 22, 2024 10 Comments

Barbara Malimali - the FICAC Commissioner - and her friend John Rabuku - the Deputy DPP - have again shown the nation the middle finger and violated all accepted practice by appearing in public at the ODPP's annual conference when Rabuku is supposed to be investigating Malimali for alleged abuse of office. It beggars belief that the substantive … [Read more...] about # CORRUPTION AT THE HEART OF THE STATE. PART TWO (UPDATED FRI PM)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
