Devanesh Sharma is one of the big guns of the legal profession in Fiji - the "go to" lawyer for a host of big individuals and corporates because of his ability to cut through the detail of even the most complex cases and provide his clients with the maximum opportunity of winning. It's a sign of the respect he commands that he has been the "go … [Read more...] about # TOP GUN DEVANESH SHARMA SPEAKS UP FOR CHRISTOPHER PRYDE

# PAY DEAL AT USP ADDS TO INFLATIONARY PRESSURES AND THREATENS JOBS

Posted on July 21, 2024 21 Comments

The recent national uproar over the salary increases Fiji’s members of parliament gave themselves has overshadowed another significant sector pay rise – an unpublicised deal last month that removed the threat of strike action at the University of the South Pacific. The deal was done at the beginning of June (see below) but has had no coverage in … [Read more...] about # PAY DEAL AT USP ADDS TO INFLATIONARY PRESSURES AND THREATENS JOBS

# GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALANDERS. FROM THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT

Posted on July 20, 2024 48 Comments

Winston Peters is named after the famous wartime leader, Winston Churchill. Yet rather than being the lion that roared over one of his own citizens being treated unlawfully by a foreign government, this Winston is a Neville Chamberlain-style appeaser - a man willing to hang a Kiwi out to dry if it placates a regional government and keeps it out of … [Read more...] about # GOD DEFEND NEW ZEALANDERS. The last non-iTaukei in the senior ranks of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, the Assistant DPP, Lee Burney, has left, depriving the ODPP of its best prosecutor and propelling Fiji further down the Zimbabwe road. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
