# DIPLOMATIC MANOEUVRES WITH THE MINISTER FOR BONKING AND WEED

Posted on May 17, 2024 11 Comments

Lynda Tabuya may have survived losing her ministerial position over her drug-fuelled sex romp with Aseri Radrodro because she has the Prime Minister over a barrel but she has become a vexing problem in diplomatic circles. The penalty for marijuana use in China ranges from 15 days in prison to a bullet in the back of the head, depending on the … [Read more...] about # DIPLOMATIC MANOEUVRES WITH THE MINISTER FOR BONKING AND WEED

# THE SLUG* OF SABETO’S BRAND OF JUSTICE

Posted on May 16, 2024 17 Comments

The old Mouth from the West, Mick Beddoes, is given the front page of today's Fiji Times to make some astonishing and highly provocative observations about the jailing of Frank Bainimarama and Sitiveni Qiliho that have nothing to do with justice and everything to do with revenge. The former opposition leader and "brains" behind the Unity Party … [Read more...] about # THE SLUG* OF SABETO’S BRAND OF JUSTICE

# MAHENDRA CHAUDHRY. A “WEAK-HEARTED, SELFISH” VISITOR

Posted on May 15, 2024 20 Comments

The "vulagi" debate has erupted all over again in spectacular fashion with an astonishing attack on the Labour Party leader, Mahendra Chaudhry, by the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, for having the temerity to object to the iTaukei term for visitor to describe Indo-Fijians who have been in Fiji since the arrival of the first Girmit 145 years … [Read more...] about # MAHENDRA CHAUDHRY. # NO, THERE ARE NEVER ANY SURPRISES

What is it about the NFP and its propensity to threaten litigation? Six months after the Chair of the Coalition's Fiscal Review Committee, Richard "I have the means" Naidu, threatened to sue Grubsheet for defamation, the NFP leader, Biman Prasad, is threatening to sue a gaggle of opposition politicians for having the temerity to criticise his … [Read more...] about # NO, THERE ARE NEVER ANY SURPRISES

# THE SNAKE SHEDS HIS “MO” FOR THE 37TH COUP ANNIVERSARY

Posted on May 14, 2024 29 Comments

The moustache that has been Sitiveni Rabuka's trademark ever since he soared to national prominence with his first coup on May 14, 1987, has suddenly gone, as if by shaving the Prime Minister can somehow reinvent himself and get the nation to think about anything else than the horror he inflicted 37 years ago today. The Coalition's PR machine … [Read more...] about # THE SNAKE SHEDS HIS “MO” FOR THE 37TH COUP ANNIVERSARY

# A PRIME MINISTER UTTERLY WITHOUT SHAME

Posted on May 13, 2024 26 Comments

It is 37 years today (Tuesday) since Sitiveni Rabuka carried out the first of his two coups to assert indigenous supremacy in Fiji, triggering an exodus of tens of thousands of the nation's best and brightest people. He has also condoned the use of the word "vulagi" among iTaukei to refer to the nation's minorities - condemning them to be … [Read more...] about # A PRIME MINISTER UTTERLY WITHOUT SHAME

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
