# WHERE’S BEN? SIDELINED AND REPUTATION SHREDDED.

Posted on April 13, 2024 19 Comments

There's been nothing from the Australian side but buried on page three of today's Fiji Sun is news that Colonel Ben Naliva is no longer deputy commander of the Australian Army's 7th Brigade. There's been no official announcement yet but the clear implication is that the Australian Defence Force now accepts that Colonel Naliva - as his accusers … [Read more...] about # WHERE’S BEN? # HANDS UP IF YOU’RE SICK OF BEING TREATED LIKE AN IDIOT.

Posted on April 12, 2024 16 Comments

The Prime Minister says you can "seek redress" if you think you've missed out on a government job or been removed on the grounds of ethnicity. And how do you do that, Fiji? By going to the Prime Minister himself to lodge a complaint. Yes, he will decide if you've been given the vudi, not some independent body. So what kind of redress is … [Read more...] about # HANDS UP IF YOU’RE SICK OF BEING TREATED LIKE AN IDIOT.

# HIS LORDSHIP MUST STAND ASIDE

Posted on April 11, 2024 22 Comments

Salesi Temo is cantankerous, erratic, capricious, imperious, self-important, sexist, patriarchal and behaves like a schoolyard bully. He shares these characteristics with a tiny minority of crusty judges in other jurisdictions of the common law that Fiji also inherited from the British. But he is unique in one particular aspect. The Acting Chief … [Read more...] about # HIS LORDSHIP MUST STAND ASIDE

# THE WORM TURNS

Posted on April 11, 2024 17 Comments

The chronically pro-Coalition Fiji Times has suddenly changed tack by putting the FijiFirst Opposition Leader, Inia Seruiratu, on its front page calling on the Prime Minister to stand down those of his ministers who are currently being investigated by FICAC or the police. It is probably just an aberration as even Fred Wesley and his troops … [Read more...] about # THE WORM TURNS

# SMALL CHANGE TO BUY THE PM’S FAVOUR

Posted on April 10, 2024 9 Comments

$300-million Fijian ($134-million US) is a pittance for the Chinese Communist Party to buy the Prime Minister's favour by improving the road system on his home island of Vanua Levu and, in turn, for Sitiveni Rabuka to curry favour with his own people. It also buys the Prime Minister's silence on the big issues of Chinese expansionism in the … [Read more...] about # SMALL CHANGE TO BUY THE PM’S FAVOUR

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
