# THE STRANGE SILENCE OVER BEN NALIVA

Posted on February 1, 2024 3 Comments

Clearly an allegation against a senior Fijian military officer of trying to sodomise someone with a rifle barrel isn’t enough in these challenging times to raise the ire of politicians and the media. Have we all become so inured to outrage that we are now incapable of being shocked by anything? Because how else to explain the almost total silence … [Read more...] about # THE STRANGE SILENCE OVER BEN NALIVA

Only in Fiji, eh? The Deputy Director of the CIA gets his picture on the front page of the Fiji Times. The look on his face says it all. Damn it. Now every two bit terrorist gets to see my dial. Guess at least I better straighten my tie. Hi Mom! The spy who came in from the cold of Langley, Virginia, right into the heat of total exposure in … [Read more...] about # ER, LANGLEY, MY COVER IS BLOWN

The Australian national broadcaster – ABC – belatedly follows the Times of London, The Australian, the New Zealand Herald and Radio New Zealand in reporting the sex and drugs scandal involving Lynda Tabuya and Aseri Radrodro that has enveloped the Coalition government and threatens both their political careers. It highlights the instruction to … [Read more...] about # EXCUSING THE INEXCUSABLE

# WHY SETTING STANDARDS OF PROPER CONDUCT IS SO IMPORTANT

This photo of Vanua Levu schoolkids Meri Ravono, Sisilia Mereadani, and Selaima Radinibeqa has captured the nation’s imagination and is being widely shared on social media, so much so that it also made the front page of today’s Fiji Sun. It reminds us that in many less developed parts of Fiji, ordinary people face a daily struggle to access … [Read more...] about # WHY SETTING STANDARDS OF PROPER CONDUCT IS SO IMPORTANT

# TWO LOVERS HEADING FOR THE BACK BENCH?

Having faced down SODELPA and sent Aseri Radrodro to the back bench, the Prime Minister has removed the principal obstacle that prevented him from carrying out his cabinet reshuffle last year. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
