#91 FIJI’S ROLE IN SPACE

Posted on June 9, 2012 6 Comments

Fiji is playing an important but little known role in China’s latest and most ambitious space mission, which is scheduled within days. For the first time - if all goes according to plan - a manned spacecraft will dock with an orbiting experimental module in a major advance for the Chinese space program. And its progress will be tracked by a highly … [Read more...] about #91 FIJI’S ROLE IN SPACE

#90 AUSTRALIA’S FIJI INVASION PLAN

Posted on June 9, 2012 50 Comments

Australia made secret plans to invade Fiji, according to a startling report that is bound to heighten suspicion and deepen the already significant rift between the two countries. The Weekend Australian reports that defence planners prepared a detailed scenario for an invasion as part of an overall strategic review for the Rudd government in … [Read more...] about #90 AUSTRALIA’S FIJI INVASION PLAN

# 89 ELIZABETH, QUEEN OF FIJI

Posted on June 4, 2012 39 Comments

The sight of the sky-blue Fiji flag among the forest of flags borne along the River Thames for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee pageant was a startling reminder that despite being suspended from the Commonwealth, Fiji is still part of the Commonwealth family. It’s a bit like a wayward sibling at any family celebration. No-one wants to condone their … [Read more...] about # 89 ELIZABETH, QUEEN OF FIJI

#88 A PROMISE KEPT

Posted on June 2, 2012 Leave a Comment

“I declare before you all that my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service”. Of all the millions of words being written about the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, one sentence echoes across the decades – the simple promise she made on her 21st birthday to serve. It has been a promise kept, surely a wondrous achievement in … [Read more...] about #88 A PROMISE KEPT

#87 A CLAYTON’S RE-ENGAGEMENT

Posted on May 29, 2012 33 Comments

There’s something distinctly perverse about Australia and New Zealand maintaining their so-called smart sanctions against Fiji when their personnel are taking part in the registration of voters for the promised elections in 2014.  Two electoral experts – one from each country  - have joined the team that’s about to sweep through Fiji, updating the … [Read more...] about #87 A CLAYTON’S RE-ENGAGEMENT

#86 M.A.D (REVISED JUNE 9TH)

Posted on May 26, 2012 22 Comments

(This posting contains new material from Mick Beddoes, the former Fiji opposition leader, challenging Grubsheet's analysis) There have been few things more startling in recent weeks than the prospect of a political union between the party of indigenous supremacists in Fiji and the only Indo-Fijian ever to become the country's prime minister. … [Read more...] about #86 M.A.D (REVISED JUNE 9TH)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
