Posted on February 5, 2026 17 Comments

As Grubsheet recovers from surgery on Monday, I am beginning to grasp the magnitude of the events taking place in the wake of the ruling by the High Court judge, Justice Dane Tuiqereqere, that the former FICAC Commissioner, Barbara Malimali, was unlawfully dismissed and that her reinstatement is being considered by the Judicial Services Commission … [Read more...] about # WHY THE NATIONAL INTEREST DEMANDS THAT BARBARA MALIMALI MUST NOT BE REINSTATED AS FIJI’S CORRUPTION WATCHDOG (UPDATED)

# SITIVENI RABUKA: THE GREAT DIVIDER. A STARTLING DEBUT BY COMMONMAN FOR ELECTION YEAR 2026

Posted on February 1, 2026 32 Comments

GD writes: CommonMan - our grassroots columnist in the vanua - returns for election year with a thought-provoking, even incendiary, article that demolishes the carefully-crafted image of the Prime Minister as having empowered and unified the iTaukei. Read on for the harsh pronouncement on Sitiveni Rabuka by a largely self-educated farmer and … [Read more...] about # SITIVENI RABUKA: THE GREAT DIVIDER. # BIMAN PRASAD’S MONUMENTAL OWN GOAL THAT WILL HAUNT HIM ALL THROUGH ELECTION YEAR

Posted on February 1, 2026 13 Comments

There's an unwritten rule in politics just as there is in journalism - politicians and journalists shouldn't sue. Because rectitude isn't the preserve of either, neither enjoy the public's trust, reputations are as easily lost as made and litigation is a lottery in which nothing that happens in a defamation action is guaranteed. We know from … [Read more...] about # BIMAN PRASAD’S MONUMENTAL OWN GOAL THAT WILL HAUNT HIM ALL THROUGH ELECTION YEAR

# THE USUAL FIJI-STYLE DELAY. BUT WAS IT REALLY NECESSARY?

Posted on January 30, 2026 14 Comments

Barbara Malimali's judicial review ruling that was due this afternoon has been pushed into next week and will be delivered by Justice Dane Tuiqereqere on Monday. It will now coincide with the verdict by the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, in the case against Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and Mohammed Saneem. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
