# FIJI’S HEALTH SYSTEM WILL BE JUST LIKE OVERSEAS IN 4-7 YEARS. SOUND FAMILIAR?

Posted on July 21, 2025 39 Comments

The embattled Deputy Prime Minister and MInister for Finance, Biman Pasad, has taken a page out of the playbook of his predecessor, Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, in promising that things will be better if only the Fijian people stay the distance and give the Coalition another term or two. Back in 2018, much of the nation fell about laughing when Aiyaz … [Read more...] about # FIJI’S HEALTH SYSTEM WILL BE JUST LIKE OVERSEAS IN 4-7 YEARS. SOUND FAMILIAR?

# SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE. MORAL BANKRUPTCY AND LEAVING FUTURE GENERATIONS A RECORD $11.7 BILLION DEBT. (UPDATED)

Posted on July 19, 2025 36 Comments

Only the Coalition ( oh, and Fred Wesley) are celebrating the passage through parliament of the 2025-26 national Budget. The rest of us know that it was always going to pass on the numbers - 36 to 12 - and there is nothing to celebrate about the fact that the Coalition's addiction to spending means that it has broken its pre-election promise to … [Read more...] about # SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE. The most famous ethnic African-American in Fiji - Acting Attorney General Siromi Turaga - has his head on the chopping block again as the Prime Minister very publicly cuts him loose over the out of court settlement negotiations with Barbara Malimali that have severely embarrassed the Coalition government. Sitiveni Rabuka should have known that … [Read more...] about # QORI, PM. THAT’S WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU PUT SIROMI TURAGA BACK IN THE JOB OF AG

# REPORT: GOVERNMENT BACKS OFF ON SETTLING THE MALIMALI CASE. NO $2-MILLION. NO REINSTATEMENT

Posted on July 18, 2025 15 Comments

The pressure on the Coalition government not to settle the Barbara Malimali case seems to have worked (see previous story) with a report by Mai TV that the case will proceed to be heard in the High Court on Monday. If Tanya Waqanika's comments to Mai TV that settlement talks have collapsed is confirmed by the government, the question remains why … [Read more...] about # REPORT: GOVERNMENT BACKS OFF ON SETTLING THE MALIMALI CASE. # WE ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE COALITION GOVERNMENT IS IRREDEEMABLY CORRUPT

Posted on July 18, 2025 19 Comments

The revelation that the Rabuka government has turned down an offer from the Luxon government in New Zealand to provide it with a Kings Counsel to argue its case against Barbara Malimali in the High Court tells us that a stitch-up is in the offing and Malimali is to be paid to keep her mouth shut. The Coalition has been in settlement negotiations … [Read more...] about # WE ARE ABOUT TO FIND OUT WHETHER THE COALITION GOVERNMENT IS IRREDEEMABLY CORRUPT

# THE CROCODILES ARE WINNING AS THE SNAKE BACKPEDALS FURIOUSLY ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COI. (UPDATED)

Despite being exonerated of any wrongdoing by the Ashton- Lewis Commission of Inquiry into the Malimali Affair, the former acting deputy FICAC Commissioner, Francis Puleiwai is paying a heavy price for taking a stand for justice. Not only was she forced to flee Fiji just in time to avoid an illegal stop-departure order placed on her by Barbara … [Read more...] about # THE CROCODILES ARE WINNING AS THE SNAKE BACKPEDALS FURIOUSLY ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE COI. About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
