# “FIJI IS IN A MESS”, SAYS KAMIKAMICA. WELL HE’S RIGHT ABOUT THAT

Posted on March 26, 2025 20 Comments

Manoa "I'll work harder if you pay me more" Kamikamica - the putative prime minister-in- waiting - has given an extraordinary interview to Radio New Zealand in which he acknowledges that Fiji "is in a mess" but blames it all on the Bainimarama "dictatorship'. Never mind that the Coalition has been in government for almost 28 months and is in a … [Read more...] about # “FIJI IS IN A MESS”, SAYS KAMIKAMICA. WELL HE’S RIGHT ABOUT THAT

# IN ANOTHER GALAXY, LONG, LONG AGO

Posted on March 24, 2025 38 Comments

It is both amazing and sobering that Fiji was once so respected in the world that we were held up as a beacon of progress among the developing nations and a beacon of democracy - amazing because it was out of all proportion to our size and importance and sobering because most of that reputation has been lost. In November 1984, our founding prime … [Read more...] about # IN ANOTHER GALAXY, LONG, LONG AGO

# THE COALITION’S BIG CON THAT FIJI’S MINORITIES MUST FIGHT

Posted on March 24, 2025 27 Comments

The unholy alliance between the Fiji Times and the Coalition government has produced another attempt to hoodwink the minorities with a misleading front page headline today trumpeting that the "PM backs equality" when in the body of the accompanying stories, he does anything but. Once again, the Prime Minister dodges the issue of whether the … [Read more...] about # THE COALITION’S BIG CON THAT FIJI’S MINORITIES MUST FIGHT

# MANOA KAMIKAMICA LAUNCHES A SCATHING ATTACK ON GRUBSHEET IN THE LATEST SIGN THAT THE GOLD ROLEX SAGA ISN’T GOING AWAY (UPDATED MON AM)

Posted on March 23, 2025 10 Comments

The Fijian mainstream media may have largely lost interest in where the Prime Minister got his $150,000 "plus" solid gold Rolex but not the overseas media, judging from the latest report on Radio New Zealand, which has been leading its Pacific coverage with it. The latest story has the Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica, denying reports by … [Read more...] about # MANOA KAMIKAMICA LAUNCHES A SCATHING ATTACK ON GRUBSHEET IN THE LATEST SIGN THAT THE GOLD ROLEX SAGA ISN’T GOING AWAY (UPDATED MON AM)

#100,000 REASONS WHY ANTI-DISCRIMINATION DAY HOMILIES CAN BE SO MUCH BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

Posted on March 23, 2025 26 Comments

What is it about Fiji and its relentless observance of United Nations "International Days" for every conceivable cause? They are invariably accompanied by full page ads in the paper, messages from assorted worthies and functions where someone delivers a speech. And so it has been with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial … [Read more...] about #100,000 REASONS WHY ANTI-DISCRIMINATION DAY HOMILIES CAN BE SO MUCH BLAH, BLAH, BLAH

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
