The Fiji Times just goes from bad to worse with a front page today that is misleading to the point of being a grotesque parody of journalism. The arresting headline screams “Sainiana breaks silence”. And most readers would have been jolted at first sight into thinking “wow, Aseri Radrodro’s wife is finally going to address her husband’s humiliating affair with Lynda Tabuya, the Minister for Bonking and Weed”.
No suck luck. There is no mention whatsoever about the drug- fuelled “brutal” bonking session in Room 233 of the Windsor Hotel in Melbourne last August.
*No mention that while Sainiana Radrodro slept in a room nearby, the new leader of SODELPA slipped out and gave Lynda Tabuya such a rogering that she said she had trouble walking the following day.
*No mention of the screaming match and tears when Lynda Tabuya eventually came to the Radrodro family home in Suva and begged for forgiveness.
*No mention of the “smoking gun” email from Lynda Tabuya to Sainiana Radrodro that is still to surface on the public record admitting to the affair and giving the lie to her public denials.
All we get is Sainiana Radrodro – who has since changed her name on Facebook to Sainiana Waqainabete – giving the Fiji Times the understatement of the year: “It has not been easy but I have had to stand by my husband”.
Sainiana Radrodro has already suffered enough without Grubsheet accusing her of a lack of candour. But we are perfectly entitled to ask whether the Fiji Times made any attempt to really get to the truth of the suffering inflicted on her by her love rat of a husband and the scarlet woman who remains as Minister for Women and Children despite the People’s Alliance finding the allegations against her of drug taking and adultery proven and stripping her of the deputy leadership.
Did the Times reporter, Serafina Silaitoga, even ask the relevant questions? Did Sainiana make it a precondition of giving her any comments at all that she not ask about the events in Room 233 and her attitude towards the sexual conduct of her husband and Lynda Tabuya?
By any standards of proper journalism, the Fiji Times should have disclosed whether it had asked the hard questions and been rebuffed along the lines of “Sainiana Radrodro refused to be drawn on the issue of her husband’s alleged affair” or some such line that would be standard practice the world over.
But no, Fiji. This is the miserable standard to which the country’s supposed newspaper of record since 1869 has fallen – an arresting headline that would have had anyone rushing to buy the Fiji Times at a newsstand or lurching for the paper over the breakfast table only to find nothing remotely relevant to easily the political scandal of the year, if not the decade.
“Sainiana breaks her silence”. And says nothing.
Good ‘ol Fred Wesley. No analysis of the SODELPA fiasco. Like one of the Three Wise Monkeys – See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. And write flabby irrelevance.
A complete betrayal of his duty as a journalist and a betrayal of the national interest. Not a mission to explain but a mission to twist and conceal.

Nauseating! Nearly choked on my Sunday morning coffee while reading the FT. Note the usual references to praying and “god has been with us….” Must be a psycho god these people pray too.
And the picture of the happy smiling youth posing with AR was just too much.
Nauseating is the word. There is a genuine sickness at the core of national life when these people invoke the Almighty to shield their tawdry conduct. The whole lot of them are heading for the downstairs bar in hell.
This last few days have left me so disgusted I can not even garner a comment. The photo of Radrodro thumbs up and ill fitting suit is nauseating to say the least…….

Sanainia Radrodro said that when Aseri beat up his former wife to within an inch of her life, including anally raping her, the former wife was in hospital only for 2 weeks, or words to that effect. So it was not too bad really! The former wife who is the PMs daughter did not get God’s help. I am sure she must still be having nightmares. Obviously God does not treat all Itaukeis equally. The former wife must not be from the Israelite flock.
But what is a fact and well known around the world is that there are many women who lust to sleep with rapists, mass murderers, child abusers and the like. The problem is that then Rabuka would refuse to follow Rabuka’s order.
This would lead to Rabuka charging Rabuka with insubordination and sacking him again. Rabuka would publicly refuse to abide by Rabuka’s ruling, throwing Rabuka into a fit of rage which would lead Rabuka to again sack Rabuka.
