The Attorney General, Graham Leung, has ended his glaring silence on the reinstatement of Christopher Pryde as DPP to say that Pryde has been exonerated by the Tribunal that investigated allegations of misbehaviour against him and that his detractors in the ODPP must accept the fact that he is returning to Gunu House on Monday.
It is effectively a gag order on further comment by the Acting DPP, Nancy Tikoisuva, and her Deputy, John Rabuku, who have breached all accepted protocols with their inflammatory public statements accompanying their announcement that they have referred Christopher Pryde to FICAC for alleged financial misconduct.
John Rabuku, in particular, has caused serious offence with an astonishing attack on the Fiji Law Society and its President, Wylie Clarke, for having criticised the ODPP for its handling of the Pryde matter. (see previous articles). The following is what Rabuku has said on social media that almost guarantees disciplinary action against him when the DPP returns to work.
Now, Graham Leung – as AG – has ordered an end to public comments which he says are bringing both the ODPP and the government into disrepute, It is clear that he is also speaking for the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, and that John Rabuku and Nancy Tikoisuva defy the instruction at their peril.
They are already facing the prospect of disciplinary action when Christopher Pryde actively resumes the role of DPP because he issued a specific instruction when he was reinstated on January 6 that no media statement was to be issued without his approval.
The senior leadership of the ODPP has flagrantly defied that instruction. But now Graham Leung is making it clear that they will not be indulged by the government and presumably the state in continuing to try to intimidate the DPP from resuming his duties next week.

A selection of commentary in today’s papers that indicates that patience on the part of the public with events at the ODPP has been exhausted. And that Graham Leung is right to attempt to put an end to it.
Disgraced lawyer John Rabuku’s ego and self entitled is through the roof. Clearly his high opinion of himself is not matched by his actual abilities or intellect. He is basically a donkey. Apart from his adoring fan Nancy Tikoisuva and a few iTaukei followers at ODPP office fawning over him, no one else thinks much of him as he has shown himself to be an utter fool. A disgrace to the profession. Clearly he is behind the turmoil and the real power behind the throne since Nancy is weak and soft brained and under his influence. Enough is enough. John Rabuku should be sacked on the spot!
Fans of RaBUKU are elsewhere too (the Western side has a special meaning for buku). Leading that fan club outside ODPP is none other Barbara Milamila at FICAC, plus CJ, CR, MJ etc. and of course Rambo. The whole lot deserve to be in the trash can of history, neither today nor tomorrow but yesterday.

At the end of the 21 months of the stand down of the substantive DPP and his reinstatement, the office bearers / senior managers who were recruited to fill in and given the PRIVILEGE to STEWARD the role in the interim period have only proven and exposed their own authentic character(s) and level of competence.
In a nutshell it’s been a distasteful, embarrassing and shameful display of public service by these individuals and I believe we ( or at least perhaps the majority of Fijians ) are all relieved to know the end of this amateur and irresponsible reign is in sight.
The damage and disrepute brought to the Public Prosecutor’s office in such a short window of time is a pity and begs the question, that if aside from qualifications and experience , the Fiji government should introduce a character and fitness assessment of public office bearers in this office and perhaps across civil service.
Generally speaking the character and fitness evaluation ensures that only people who are honest, trustworthy, and reliable are admitted to the bar. This protects the public from lawyers who may be incompetent.
It has been astonishing to witness the blatant and consistent bad behaviors tolerated by Government in this office. And unfortunately in the meantime the reputational damage of Fiji and general Fiji lawyers has taken a battering because of such individuals.
We the people of Fiji deserve so much better than this.
Senior management Team of the Public Prosecutors Office , leadership is not a position or title it is action and example. Furthermore , Leaders earn respect through their actions.
My advise & plead for you all is to :
1. Take a moment to pause

I have more respect for the ousted Samoan PM Fiame who stood her ground when it comes to law of the land. Fiji better learn from her. A leader goes a long way when they stand firm with their ethics. Graham Leung has rightly asked Nancy and Rabuku to shut up on Pryde’s return to the office.
Graham Leung should, however, institute action against the two, if he means what he has said.
The actions of Nancy and Rabuku are enough, at least, to suspend them.
All this is a really good advertisement for young educated people who may want to make a future in Fiji and to investors wanting to invest in Fiji.
The glaring answer at the end is “dont think about doing it”.
The judiciary is really in shambles and 3 or 4 people are making it into a cartoon show. PM is as quiet at a wet cat. President is as useless if not totally out of depth for his role.

2. JVB not JVN
Initially I had thought that Pryde would be better off to stay away from Fiji and protect his dignity. With all the shenanigans in recent days, he better come back and sort these two out, for the sake of restoring some sanity in our ODPP.
John and Nancy know nothing about decorum and independence. The first thing being in an independent office is to keep your mouth shut.
If one has hung around with some of these racist fu@kwits and indigenous nationalist supremacist imbeciles, you’d have realized that they consider themselves as “black”. They want to be recognized and identified as the “black” people who were for centuries oppressed and had to fight for freedom and rights. You’ll find images of Obama, Malcom X and other black leaders in their offices and cubicles with quotes.
They think that they deserve more rights than others because they are “black” and have had a history of struggles and oppression.
God knows that the only struggles these fu@kers had was trying to eat the original and true indigenous inhabitants of Fiji when they drifted off to Fiji somehow. This behavior still hasn’t stopped albeit with different tactics.

Clearly Rabuku believes he is above reproach from the FLS or any other professional bodies.
Rabuku has forever been an embarassment to the iTaukuei’s and the legal profession.

The legal profession should do the sensible thing and strip him off his practising certificate. He is a failure as a lawyer.
Like a cry from the wilderness, Fiji’s globe trotting AG returns like the prodigal son, and tries to get some control over the madness. A little too late but given its Fiji and Fiji time is the norm, let us hope his directive to Tikoisuva and Rabuku will shut them up.
On a side note, the (biased, utterly useless and incapable) media in Fiji really need to stop referring to Tikoisuva as the Acting DPP. That role was automatically rescinded when Pryde was exonerated of the false charges.
Graham Leung acted too slowly. I haven’t read the relevant legislation however does he have powers over the deputy and acting dpp to remove them and if so, should have done ages ago ( assuming he makes a recommendation to the president). I need to review NSW legislation in this regard but I doubt the NSW Governor is involved. Assume the NSW AG has the power to remove these officers. So a similar regime should be in place.
Secondly, I assume for the legal officers DPP / Solicitor General’s office, the authority to practise is via legislation rather than the grant of a practising certificate by the Fiji Law Society ( after demonstrating good character etc) abd which is separate to admission to practise by the Supreme or High courts. There surely thereforehas to be a provision in the relevant legislation allowing for their ‘deregistration’/ removal to practise for various reasons including these.
In fact, the whole lot of them need to go. It seems a very dysfunctional legal system in Fiji. Every lawyer is an expert and knowledgeable but seem to say v little. Also can someone enlighten me as to whether Jon Apted is a constitutional lawyer.
The Fiji Law Society issued practising certificates until 2009, when the government of Frank Bainimarama banned it from doing so. Lawyers’ certificates were made to expire seven months early, and each lawyer was required to obtain a new certificate from the Chief Registrar of the High Court.
According to https://laws.gov.fj/Acts/ViewSection/80150?query=ITC%20Act%202012, a practising certificate is required and, can be cancelled by the Chief Registrar.
Unfortunately, in this case the Chief Registrar himself has several issues surrounding his appointment and the fact he has a criminal record. Seen as Rabuka’s stooge, the CR’s job is to destroy court filings and legal documents.
The fact that Malimali attempted to have Janet Mason removed from the COI yesterday suggests that she thinks it is not going her way. And given the general lack of investigative reporting done by our media, it is likely that they were “leaked” that information and details of happenings in the COI by Malimali’s team in am effort to discredit Mason and the COI.
If Nancy the Nutcase was only Acting DPP and did not hold any substantive post, then her appointment came to end on the date the President re-instated Pryde.
Nancy the Nutcase and her bandwagon of incompetent racist baboons need to go as well.
It’s well known that these buffoons think they are the elite lawyers in Fiji and above all others. They consider themselves characters resembling Boston Legal and Suits. The sad reality is that these numbnuts scraped through law school or in the case of those who were under the Fijian Affairs Board scholarships, they were still admitted to the bar with GPAs that would otherwise be excluded from even coming close to being admitted to the Bar.
The desperate attempts by these so called lawyers to cling onto power is a clear indication that they know what’s coming for them once Pryde takes office.
And let’s not forget, TEMO, SIROMI, and RABUKA are all in this. Remember also that there were complaints lodged against Rabuka and a few others, and the file was with the DPP’S office and that all was swept under the carpet once Pryde was kicked out. There’s a lot that some of these itaukei will lose out on if Pryde comes in.

Dear Mr Pryde
Please send a letter to Nanise and Jone before 5pm today to meet you in your office at 8am Monday.
Hand them their termination letter with effect immediately and get a security to escort them out. Please make sure that they are not allowed to take a single pencil from that office.
Thereafter get their digital devices and home raided for uplifting all government information. That can be usually done within 24 hours too.
Nanise has written to FICAC using ADPP title that she is not. That is a gross violation of office. In fact, she should be charged by Fiji Police immediately for fraudulent practice.

While the people of our nation watch this sh*t show offered up by the legal fraternity, can our legislators and administrators pass legislation that no lawyer who has been found guilt and reprimanded by the FLS should be allowed to be employed by Independent Commissions of the State, Civil Service, Public Service, Government Authorities, NGO’s and CSO’s and Private Public Entities funded by Government for at least 10 years from the time of their last infringement of FLS rules.
