    I think the participants all made it clear that they were not there to interfere with the direction being taken while fully interfering. They’re thankful the media isn’t present so that everything is swept under the carpet without the public being aware.

    All of them should face the consequences including Wailei Clark who is preventing justice to be served. (Eds. Next line redacted for legal reasons)

      And once again, our democracy has been violated.
      Rabuka has led us down this path, and only by leading us back can he hope to find redemption. No one escapes the consequences of their actions. Life is fleeting, and both the gates to heaven and hell are unforgiving.

      We will neither bless nor pray for a better fate for those who have earned their suffering through karma. Let it be known: you are not the ultimate authority. There are higher powers to whom even you must answer—beyond your short-term political agendas and exploitation.

      May God bless those who truly deserve it, and may divine justice fall upon those who commit crimes against humanity, in measure with their deeds. We place our trust in Him and in the justice that He alone delivers.

    The more information that emerges the more confusing this becomes. The short point is that the publication of the COI report is now essential.

    Everything hinges on the findings in the COI because that may explain or justify the subsequent decisions taken and why the JSC had to be bypassed in the public interest.

    If the JSC has been found to have utterly compromised then the argument that the JSC has to be consulted going forward becomes much a weak one, and it points to more heads rolling.

    If ever anyone needed evidence of a cover up which includes the so called president of the FLS, this is it.

    It is apparent the FICAC representatives did they best to put forward their arguments why Malimali was being arrested, etc. but the dirty crew who represented Malimali came in with their decisions made.

    The CR’s statements in the audio make it quite clear he is not impartial and has played a key role in this entire dirty affair; this probably why there is so much effort behind the scenes to prevent the release of the unadulterated version of the COI report.

    Word continues to fly through the grapevine that Wylie is working hard in the background to ensure the report isnt released given it makes his position as the president of the FLS untenable and calls will be made for him to resign once the truth comes out.

    Rabuka has been quoted in the media stating the report will be released to the public this week so everyone who has something to lose wait in trepidation.

      And to hear Bainivalu ask- when Aslam was here , you were also here so why now ? Why do this now ? When Bainivalu said that – he had clearly crossed the line ! It was over for him then !

      By that statement he wanted to challenge and suggest that Puleiwai and her FICAC team had not addressed similar corruption in the past so why do so now ?

      First of all, why do you compare how Malimali was appointed to Aslam? Secondly, you seem to be suggesting that because you’re ITaukei, don’t do this to Malimali!

      Isa I couldn’t believe my ears !! Honestly what a low life ! Bainivalu shouldn’t only be removed but also charged for trying to pervert the course of justice in the independent Commission that was finally trying to do justice for Fiji!

      Also- charge CJ. Salesi Temo- how could you give that kind of instruction that no court will accept Puleiwai’s case against Biman Prasad!! That’s a corrupt directive and you know you also tried to pervert the course of justice by those directives!! You will now face the worker side of the court room too! Wait for it ! It’s coming if not now then when govt changes next year !!

      Eda madua na nomudoui valavala duka! No right thinking person can justify your rot the whole bandwagon of you ! It stinks from miles away !!

    Mr Clarke should have been independent but now he’s in soup too. Shameful. 😕 But why was he doing that? More truth to prevail. Good job Mr GD. You are great 👍

    Whilst the exchange of views between parties had been professional, the statements to the effect that “no court will accept the charge” is very serious indeed as this is simply tentamount to “perverting the course of justice”. Those making such statements appear to have elevated themselves as the law and not the custodians of law. If Fiji Law Society was present to protect the “rule of law” as Mr Wylie Clark (President FLS) claims, then he should have responded to that statement.

    I wonder if these buffoons realized that whilst they kept repeating they are not there to interfere in FICAC investigations, they truly were. What a futile and ridiculous exercise in their desperate attempt to shield themselves from prosecution for obstruction. This confirms that they knew exacrtly what they were doing.

    What’s also evident is that this was all coordinated between the whole lot of them who turned up as a gang to intimidate FICAC staff. Bainivalu appearing on behalf of Temo and as Secretary to JSC – what a bunch of jokers.

    Whilst JSC has a hand in the appointment process, it cannot and should not interfere in the operations and independence of FICAC. Yet that’s exactly what the Chair and Secretary of JSC together with their lapdogs were doing – interfering and obstructing FICAC investigations.

    I wonder if they would have done the same thing if this was a Police matter and in a Police station.

    Fiji Law Society has not released a statement regarding this blatant interference? I know the Baker Charters will be quick to defend Wylie on which hat is being worn and what needs defending?

    Oh, what a sad day in the lawlessness jungle of a fractured Fiji! A total farce, pantomine conduct from the distinguished and learned fraternaties of the Bar, in particular from the people of iTaukei communities. And to add insult to injury, the CoI Report is still under wraps! Do the people of Fiji have confidence in the legal system?

    I suggest sack the lot before Fiji becomes a laughing stock!!

    And people thought Voreqe was bad. History will tell us otherwise.

    None of the bastards on tape nor the several others who all are part of the abhorrent disregard for the rule of law come close to the altruism and high ideals of equal citizenry, service and good governance espoused by JVB.

    Yet Voreqe was disliked and rejected by his country and his own people simply because he did not suffer fools gladly. Voreqe was disliked because his opinions pushed back ethno-nationalism.

    Now deservedly, the same people who rejected Voreqe are treated with utter contempt by this government’s incompetence and dysfunction, increasing poverty, increasing crime, drugs, and disease.

    The good times were by no means perfect, yet they were significantly better than now.

    Education for all, growing the economy year-on-year, infrastructure developments, functioning civil service, functioning judiciary, AND rolling up his sleeves to help clean streets after flooding, etc., are all a distant memory now.

    All the good work and progress now lie in shambles.

    Put pigs in a pen expect a pigpen.

    There’s a book that says something to the effect that a good man is not without honor except in his own country and in his own house.

    My conclusion, after just listening for just a few minutes, these legal people in Fiji are all third rate lawyers and that is exactly why they were appointed to their positions, by third rate appointers in the JSC, the COC or whoever else appointed them. All proud third raters, the lot of them just like the voters of Fiji.
    What, does anyone have any other explanation?

    The President of the Fiji Law Society is not fit for this position. ( Eds. Portion redacted for legal reasons)
    Clearly trying hard to (further redaction) stop the FICAC case on Malimali from proceeding.

    Wylie “Rule of law” Clarke;
    Laurel “misplaced concern” Vaurasi;
    Amani “35 years experience” Bale;
    Nemani “silent but loud complainer” Tuifagalele; &
    Tomasi “Why now” Bainivalu.

    You have all taken part in stopping FICAC from executing a lawful arrest.
    You have interfered with the lawful execution of duties of a FICAC officer.

    Your actions amounts to PERVERTING THE COURSE OF JUSTICE! And you must be held accountable and charged.

    Concerned about the rule of law? Your actions are an affront to the Rule of law… clearly!

    Disgrace to the legal fraternity.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
