# THE CHAOS OF THE JUNGLE

Posted on January 26, 2024 6 Comments

The troop that holds the balance of power in the parliament decides to draw a line in the sand and insist that the Prime Minister reinstate one of their number who almost killed his daughter and had “brutal” sex with another of his ministers and put him back as Minister for Education.

That’s what this lot think we all deserve, Fiji – a complete breakdown of standards of conduct and morality in order to preserve their place in a Coalition government that is completely dysfunctional and surely cannot go on much longer in its present state.

What will the Prime Minister do? Will he be man enough to stand up to this rabble and call their bluff? Or is he going to accept the abject humiliation of a second failure to dislodge Aseri Radrodro that will destroy the credibility of his leadership altogether and also cruel the chances for his successor? SODELPA says defecting to FijiFirst isn’t on the table ( for now). Sitiveni Rabuka should test their resolve by standing firm and proceed with his decision to send Aseri Radrodro to the back bench.

Why Manoa Kamikamica’s smile has gone as he can feel the prize slipping away.

It is nearly seven weeks – March 11 – before parliament sits again (The President will hold the ceremonial opening on March 4) and this unruly troop has the opportunity to call a motion of no confidence in the Prime Minister and side with FijiFirst to bring down his government. PM , please stand up to them and let them have the next six weeks under the searing blowtorch of public opinion to see whether anyone else shares their high opinion of themselves.

Come on, Siti. Be a man not a mouse. These guys wouldn’t dare to bring the government down. They wouldn’t be able to show their faces in the vanua or anywhere else. So tell them that the dismissal stands and if they don’t like it, they can do their worst. Because the sooner they lose their stranglehold on government and stop holding everyone hostage the better off the whole country will be.

It is no longer the “three-legged stool” but two legs and a termite-invested branch that will be kicked out from under the stool as soon as the Fijian people get the opportunity to return to the polls. So bring it on.

I think no one told them that Let Love Shine can also sometimes become the good old Love Is Blind.

It is a case of an old dog holding firm on his bone. But for how long when his leadership has become a global mockery within 12 months. He keeps falling over his own sword. And his popularity is fading fast. The apologies have been too many and is laughable.

You were chosen to serve diligently and not to serve your differences non stop for over a year while people are facing hardships. This government has done nothing so far that is deemed praise worthy.

Time to take the blinkers off Fiji. Elections calling soon.

Grab some soft drinks and popcorn, sit back, relax and watch this circus of a Govt which is full of clowns and jokers.

Fiji Times and Vijay Narayan are puppets of this Govt. They lack courage and are a disgrace to journalism.

Keep it up Mr Davis. Most of us now turn to you and FijiLeaks for honest and factually correct news and stories.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
