# THE FACE OF A TRAITOR

Posted on July 3, 2024 31 Comments

Photo: Fiji Times

Viliame Naupoto – the former Commander of the RFMF – came into parliament on the coat-tails of Frank Bainimarama and those who voted for FijiFirst at the last election. Now in a disgraceful betrayal of both his former leader and more importantly those ordinary Fijians who voted for him, Naupoto is transferring his allegiance to Sitiveni Rabuka and talks of joining the People’s Alliance.

What possible justification can he have for doing so? None other than sheer self-interest. So much for keeping the bastards honest. This dishonourable excuse for a human being is a bastard himself. A turncoat who has betrayed everything the military stood for and FijiFirst stood for – non racial policies and equal opportunity for every citizen, irrespective of ethnicity or religion. “Dina, Dodonu, Savasava“. (see the previously undisclosed RFMF blueprint for the 2014 election below)

Viliame Naupoto has had the opportunity to join the 25 other ex-FijiFirst independents in continuing to provide Fiji with a viable opposition to curb the excesses of the Coalition government and fulfil his duty to the people who voted for FijiFIrst at the December 2022 election. But instead, he is poised to sell himself to Sitiveni Rabuka like a common prostitute.

We expected it from someone like Mosese Bulitavu, who opportunistically abandoned his former SODELPA colleagues to join FijiFirst and is now also toying with the notion of joining the Coalition. A rat perpetually chasing the cheese. But the former RFMF Commander? Someone who was by Frank Bainimarama’s side when he tried to level the playing field in Fiji and benefited from Bainimarama’s patronage in the military and in politics? Grubsheet, for one, is genuinely shocked.

Frankly, Rear Admiral Viliame Naupoto (Retd) deserves to be shot. ( Charlie Charters asks below if I am OK. I am being tongue in cheek but only just). Unfortunately those days are over. But he certainly deserves to be crucified at the next election by the voters he has betrayed. Rank opportunism and selfishness. No longer a distinguished soldier or a man of principle but unprincipled political scum.

The front page of today’s Fiji Times

And it appears that Viliame Naupoto is not alone. FijiFirst is a nest of traitors, judging from the main story this morning on CFL-Fiji Village.

—————-

From RFMF Commander to political whore

For the record, this is the document that Viliame Naupoto and the other members of the Military Council put their name to in advance of the 2014 election. As far as Grubsheet is aware, it has never been published before.

The People’s Alliance needs to understand what a snake they are getting with a former RFMF Commander who supported one thing a decade ago and has done a complete about-face now for his own personal advancement. Though it takes a snake to know one. And they deserve each other.

Breathtaking.

Not everyone is pleased to see the demise of FijiFirst, like Savenaca Vakaliwaliwa writing in today’s Fiji Sun. So who now speaks for him and the majority of Fijian voters who backed the party at the last election?

The “Self First” politicians like Viliame Naupoto need to take a good look at themselves.

The saying that politics makes for strange fellas are true.
Wonder what carrot was dangled in front of him?

What is now apparent is that perhaps all these FFP MP’s we’re not truthful to the ideals of what FFP stood for , it was just lip service and they all rode the coat tails of Frank who was the most popular politician garnering the most votes and got into Parliament that way.

In reality perhaps his calculation is that in order too stay relevant and have a career in politics he cannot always be an independent as he won’t ever win a seat that way, next option of forming their own political party maybe is a tall order and tough hill to climb.
So perhaps the best option is to join an existing party.

Bulitavu for years criticized AIYAK, Frank and FFP and ends up joining them , the same possibly now for Naupoto. They have no conscience and honor but only self interest.

Reminds me of Irene Jain Narayan, for years was critical of Ratu Mara and Alliance and ended up joining the Alliance Party which ended her political career.

Wonder what Pravin Bala is thinking , will he jump and join his former party NFP?

Do people know how to retire gracefully and pass the batting to the next generation without damaging their legacy and their values?

Mr Naupotilo- considered by many to be sincere, honest, non racist, fair, open minded& progressive, just like his Boss , the Great Frank Bainimarama. But today, we hang our head in Shock & Shame, yet another traitor has emerged, as they say ‘ the higher a man climbs, the more of his arse that can be seen’ . I’m sorry Mr Naupoto, that’s how we all feel. It’s still not too late to change course, save your dignity and hard earned life long reputation, re start another party based on genuine principles of FF and become its leader, believe me- you will earn ever lasting gratitude from the masses.

Viliame Naupoto was the politician who moved his family out of their home into rented premises so that he could sell it to fund his election campaign.

He now wears expensive business suits in parliament, that he would never dream of owning without the proceeds from the sale of his family’s home.

He is a vain self-centred individual. I am not surprised he is the first to offer himself to the highest bidder. Such men should be treated with contempt.

Utterly shameful! Lost all respect for him. Could have just retired gracefully with whatever dignity he had earned under ffp.

Rest of the selfish members of ffp who voted for pay increase, you can forget that people will choose you again. You have proven you’re nothing but bunch of self-serving selfish scum!

There is nothing “Honourable” about the three-legged coalition MPs and those traitors from ffp!

This “kaisi ” falla resigned as commander of RFMF ,than stood for FFP in 2018 elections .Received a bit over 100 votes.
Than another “Kaisi”,Bainimarama pushed him back to the barracks again after he couldn’t make it to parliament.
There were other better senior officers to take up the commanders role but was sidelined
Than those assh^&#le senior officers supported this ass^&hole.
Just to protect another asshol^@&le Aiayaz
    Both assho%&s were in Navy.
Did bugrall and were useless and than became Commanders.
He was brought back to fight 2022 elections again , where he crawled into parliament with few hundred votes
Now the asah:#^Ole decides to cross the floor to leak another ass^#&hole
    Shame on this cuN”%^ts
Today Fiji is in a sorry state because of these greedy assh^&oles
From very first day they walked into camp, they get all free things
    Free kana
    Free sulu
    Free toilet paper
    That mentally dies with them
Even their funerals are free with use of tax payers money with big parade.
Free, Free, free and do fu;;ckall
That’s the reason they look for Free opportunities
Turn that Delainabua camp into a university or a hospital
Don’t need them,if not more ass;&&holes will be born like him and others

    God bless my Fiji

Hospital is a great idea Ratu.
My colleague works in the hospital and travels everyday from his village to CWM for work.
Somedays he doesn’t come to work as the bus doesn’t reach to their village.
Only one bus service his area and both school children and adults use it.
He tells me when the bus is full, the driver turns back
Worse on a rainy day as condition of roads is in pathetic state like CWM hospital.
Poor guy,I feel for him especially the care we give
There is no color or gender to choose from.
We do our best of what worst is available to us to save lives.
Everyone know the condition of CWM hospital today .
Those barracks and quarters in Nabua would be very handy for all medical personnel .
With the skills the army personnel have learned, they should go back to their villages and share with other villages thier knowledge .
There is lot of spare land to plant as well.
      Vinaka

Sadly I think near everyone has their price in a poverty mentality. The minute the chance of travel and favours for themselves and their families are in sight, all else is forgotten. From the grassroots right up to the top this becomes endemic. FF certainly lost their way (particularly towards the end) and were not perfect, but they did make inroads into more fairness and less kerekere that lifted Fiji to a nation to be taken more seriously. It will be many years before (or even if) Fiji has this chance again to rise above tribal politics and favour.

Politicians and individuals are free to do as they please with their personal finances.
However it would appear to be of concern that a person at advanced stage of their working life has to sell the family home to have enough funds for their election campaign.
While a personal gamble for him, we don’t need such qualities in members of parliament who are expected to make sound decisions in their public roles. Not reckless behaviour puting themselves and their family on the reef.

No Graham, he and others in FFP have no choice unless they amassed more than the threshold to be independent, which none of them have.

Again, another shoddy law making by Kai making the Political Parties Act inconsistent with the Constitution. If taken to Court, obviously the Constitution is the Supreme law so whoever chooses to stay independent better meet the criteria in the Constitution.
So it’s either join another party or another by-election. Smart kaidia still snookering his buddies hahaha

The guy was a Army Commander and a Navy Commander. People like these should think strategically. But this guy is now broke and will sell his Rear Admiral end to the highest bidder. A prostitute who changes allegiences to suit his personal needs. Such people must never be trusted. There are just too many of this kind in Fiji. They are everywhere. I know people who can change allegiences for a bottle of beer or a bowl of grog or a packet of cigarettes in sporting clubs and religious organisations. These are cheap prostitutes and I for the life of me do not understand how Fiji has come to this. The kids are being taught this.
And then everyone wonders why Fiji is where it is.

When someone is prepared to sell the family home to get into parliament what is the treasure that they see in becoming an MP!
Privilege. Money. Overseas trips. Power to make more money. Ride in a govt Landcruiser. Lucrative pension. Wining and dining at the GPH. Duty free concession.
Baubles of Power . What a public service !

Whilst he is the first he won’t be the last to succumb to bright baubles of being in Government. Latest reports suggest up to 10 members of the former Fiji First party are being enticed to the Government benches. that would allow Rabuka to dump the NFP and SODELPA.

All will become clear next week when Parliament sits. Then we will see who sits where and who votes with who.

What change can they bring if they’re moving from a questionable institution that breeds coup makers and opportunists.

Bula Graham, what if this is all part of the grand master plan by Frank and Aiyaz to trojan horse the current coalition government from within the party and government. We never know. And quite frankly what all this has proven is that, Frank and Siti arent the only snakes going around. Quite contrary, I think the parliament is FULL of poisonous snakes, you’d be better off counting the MP’s who arent snakes than counting the actual number of snakes in there. Quite sad really. Also Graham, please tell me how we can get rid of the Minister for bonking and weed Lynda Tabuya? Biggest eye sore of this current government.

But they had to dig into FHL documents of an alleged insider trading transaction many many years before he became PM. Yet here we are merely 18 months into new govt we dont where to start with the huge amount of cases of nepotism, abuse of office and thievery from their very first year of messrs bainimarama and khaiyum. Them their families and friends. Their thirst to not care whether anyone was looking was just breathtaking. Not a fan of theirs 1 bit. They deserve everything thats coming to them i.e all of them. We might have to rename korovou goal for them.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
