As a report surfaces from the unlikely source of the Fiji Times that the Prime Minister has barred Lynda Tabuya from making overseas trips amid the fallout of her squalid sex and drug scandal, more details are also emerging about her self-serving promotion of rugby.
Grubsheet has been contacted by a provincial rugby insider with the illuminating story of how the Great Temptress seduced a group of trusting, talented women players and used them for her own political ends.
To follow is a saga that adds a new dimension to the growing body of evidence against a woman who would not survive in any other government but who has enticed the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, to defy conventional standards of accountability and face down his own party.

“Last year, the Navosa women’s rugby team won their whole tournament and qualified for the next grade of competition. There was great celebration that Navosa women did so well and qualified for the next grade.
Low and behold as is common here, the Navosa Rugby Union took all the money. They never paid the girls. They used it to support the Navosa men’s team to try and get them to the next grade in the competition. The girls were absolutely gutted, completely destroyed and disillusioned. They had no money to even prepare for this year’s tournament.
They went to the Minister for Bonking and Weed (your words not mine ) and as the Minister, asked her to help them hold the Navosa Rugby Union to account. They wanted her help to get their money and support so they could train and be in camp ( money that should have been theirs, they won and that they trained hard to win.)
What did Lynda do?
She didn’t help them hold Navosa to account. Instead she said: “ I am from Kadavu. Why don’t we form a women’s team of our own? This will help me out and it will allow you ladies to play rugby again”. So she got them to play under the Kadavu name. But here is the real kick in the guts. After qualifying last year to get into the next grade of competition, they have to go back to playing in the bottom grade because the Kadavu team is in the lower grade.
So instead of supporting the ladies to help them get what is rightfully theirs – a place in the top grade women’s competition – Lynda Tabuya brushed it over to serve her own interests and got them to play for Kadavu in a lower grade competition because she needed the publicity. She is there in Kadavu saying she is promoting grassroots rugby and sponsoring the women’s team. No, she isn’t. She is serving her own interests. The reason the Kadavu womens team is doing so well is because they should be in a grade above where they are playing. They won the competition last year. The reason they are playing so well is that they are NOT the Kadavu team. They are the Navosa team re-branded so that the Minister for Self Serving Interests can promote herself.
It makes me soooo angry!!! These girls worked their butts off!!! She is the Minister for Women. She should have stuck up for them, made a song and dance and dragged the Navosa Rugby Union over the coals to ensure the girls got what they deserved. But no. She thought it best to re-brand them for her own benefit.
She needs to go as Minister for Women and Children. Talk to the “Kadavu” women’s team. Even they have had enough of her and her antics.”
The whole country, it seems – apart from Shamima Ali, Pio Tikoduadua and Manoa Kamikamica – has had enough of Lynda Tabuya’s antics. But, of course, she is a protected species – damned by her own party that has removed her as deputy leader of the PAP but thrown a lifeline by the “Snake”.

The story of Linda Tabuya hijacking the Navosa Women’s rugby team to play at a lower grade in a separate province (her own) for her own political gain is the very reason World Rugby comes down hard on politics in sport.
As this case clearly shows, it is sport that suffers in the end.
The poor Navosa ladies have to endure another season playing in a lower grade.
Tabuya’s judgement call was not made in the best interest of the players or for rugby, but for her own self..
FRU as the franchisee for World Rugby, is duty bound to investigate and correct the wrong.

The Navosa ladies must be able to play for their own province at the level they had qualified for.
If this news broke in Australia and NZ our Women’s Drua team would be banned from the super rugby competition.
As for the male-dominated Navosa Rugby Committee, they should be ashamed of themselves.
All should be stood down and banned from any engagement in rugby for at least 5-years.
Madam Lynda can never be trusted. She did the same for Fijiana last year in Australia. The community said she appeared from nowhere for a group photo. The team were surviving on the bare minimum. Lynda then went on to post about the girls but as a government minister did nothing for them. Just appear from nowhere, photo opportunity and a post was enough for her sheep to say vinaka madam.
Lynda was also at Hamilton Sevens about 3 years ago or so. She was literally going around in the stadium at FMG Waikato and campaigning for her party. She went to some Fiji Indians and they were disturbed by her behavior. She seemed to be on a high and lost. Was talking abruptly and over people who were there to support the team. Lynda turned up in a suit to watch Sevens. How about that! It was totally weird. Some Fijians told her to f**k off. Then the security was called in (yes, you read that right too) and she was told by the security to stop running the political campaign or she will be removed from the stadium. In her suit she stood looking completely lost while everyone stared at her. To be honest, I thought she was on a high and totally lost it scenario. She was busy trying to call people and no one gave her any attention. She became a laughing matter early Saturday morning at FMG Stadium. Told off by security guards.
She then walked out. Her little crew of two Fiji Indian men followed her. One a failed builder who was under investigation in New Zealand by the building board. Everyone passing comments that he was getting lucky with Lynda.
Don’t come back to Australia and New Zealand, Lynda. Majority of the Fijians have no time for you and your bonking Prime Minister boyfriend.

The longest serving democratically elected PM of Fiji was happily studying to become a doctor from Otago Medical School, playing cricket and rugby for Otago and breaking high jump records for New Zealand Universities.
The late Ratu Mara received a letter from Late Ratu Sukuna to drop what he loved to do ((Sir Mara’s own admission) and go and study economics at Oxford with a view to join public service. Much of his life was then dedicated to negotiating independence, developing the westminster type 1970 constitution and negotiating with late AD Patel and a strong Fiji kissan Sangh for some semblance of unity in a country even then polarised by a racial divide.
That was then. People called in for service away from career of choice. And then they went for a period of preparation. Today’s hollow, no morals clowns like Tabuyoyo don’t do nothing of value but feel they have a right to come to politics to become a PM. I want you Mr. Grubs to be my PR consultant with a view to me becoming PM. You must have a lot to hide and mask if your ambition is to become a PM through PR and not through public service. PS I never voted for PM Mara as I wasn’t of voting age but was growing up in a family of NFP supporters obviously biased along racial lines. I read about him a lot later on in life and was impressed with his experience, achievements and ability to collaborate with “enemies”.
