Yet again, the nation’s prosecutors at the ODPP are claiming “oversight” as an excuse for their incompetence in delaying yet another criminal trial – underlining the folly of having sidelined the substantive DPP, Christopher Pryde.
The ODPP’s failure to meet court deadlines in the drugs case against Hari Punja‘s grandson comes on top of repeated failures in recent months, one of which has led to a claim for $20,000 in compensation by lawyer Wylie Clarke on behalf of his client, the former health minister Dr Neil Sharma in the case against Sharma, Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
How much longer is this farce going to be tolerated by a government that has become a byword for incompetence and dysfunction? Answer: Until it is driven from office. Because the same dysfunction extends to the Acting Attorney General’s office and the office of the chronically incompetent Solicitor General, Ropate Green Lomavatu.
The irony of a known Coalition supporter in the form of Wylie Clarke complaining about the ODPP has been compounded by Wylie Clarke’s little mate – Richard “I have the means and give my billionaire clients a tax break” Naidu – complaining about the drafting of the proposed Referendum Act.
Richie Rich has gone public indirectly flailing the Acting AG, Siromi Turaga, and his SG for producing a bill that “looks as if it has been cut and pasted from somewhere else and breaches the basic free speech provisions in the Constitution”. Yes, tardiness, incompetence (or is it malevolence?) again.
They can say what they like about Christopher Pryde but he at least presided over an ODPP that was functioning properly instead of the rabble presided over by Nancy Tikoisuva – the woman who framed the substantive DPP with trumped-up charges of expenses fraud within days of Pryde being exonerated on similar charges by three High Court judges and reinstated. (see our previous article)
One thing has become blindingly obvious to anyone with the barest knowledge of current conditions in the offices of state. The Coalition’s policy of ethnic cleansing to promote iTaukei whether or not they are competent has been a disaster for Fiji and has degraded our institutions to the point of dysfunction. Don’t take my word for it. Look at the evidence.

A story highlighted by other media organisations…

————————-
And all this only a month after the shambolic Assistant DPP, Laisani Tabuakoro, used the pathetic excuse of an “oversight” to defend her incompetence in the Sharma, Bainimarama and Khaiyum trial.

What we wrote at the time. And it is getting worse.
And as the scandalous conduct at the ODPP continues, Richard Naidu turns on his own with a withering assessment of the Coalition’s proposed Referendum Act.

——————————
A response from Siromi Turaga? What’s the point? He is the architect of the ethnic cleansing in the offices of state, the principal tormentor who has driven Christopher Pryde from office and who launched a withering attack on Nilesh Lal – the head of Dialogue Fiji – for making precisely the same point as Richard Naidu about the proposed Referendum Act.
Now that he has been savaged by someone from within the Coalition tent, let’s see what difference it makes. On second thoughts, we already know the answer to that. It won’t make any difference at all.
Until you vote them out.

Don’t be too hard on DPP Laisani Tabuakoro. She has some deep insights. When GD wrote against the drunken escapades and wastage of John Rabuku, Tikoisuva and their team at the Sheraton, she posted about his remarkable singing voice and how those complaining were simply jealous🤣.
That’s Laisa’s depth of thinking, which explains the mess at the ODPP. And of course we have seen her performance, or rather, emotional and amateurish performances in court.
As for Richard “I have the means and give my billionaire clients a tax break” Naidu, it’s good that he has crawled out of his hole to peer at what’s going on, after his self-exposed exile.
After successfully engineering a seven year, undeserved tax break for his Munro Leys client, Fiji Water, he had gone underground, or underwater (pun intended).
With his badia benefactor Baiman now facing charges, and the government and the people of Fiji aware of how the Fiscal Review Committee Richard chaired was used for the benefit of Fiji Water, rather than for the benefit of Fiji, Richie Rich is trying to save face. So he makes some mealy mouthed remarks about the referendum bill and democracy. Hooray, Richard has found his voice again. But a wolf is still a wolf, even in sheep’s clothing.
Let’s never forget how iTaukei resource owners and Fiji as a whole were screwed over the Fiji Water scandal and corrupt behavior of certain individuals on the Fiscal Review Committee, under the veneer of legality.
A Shocking ‘State of Affairs’ our little ole Fiji, only just bobbing above its weight in the South Seas !
As for the Punja boy, put the little prick behind bars, a flashy alleged supplier of drugs to Nadi and in particular Denarau druggie residents and kids !
It is clearly obvious that the ODPP, Solicitor General and Attorney General’s offices are functionally broken whilst the country slides further in the administration of justice.
The ODPP has become a joke, managed by clowns and gaining a reputation for only political prosecutions of former members of the Fiji First Party, and just lurch from one mess to the next!
‘Justice delayed is justice denied’ is a legal maxim. It means that if legal redress or equitable relief to an injured party is available, but is not forthcoming in a timely fashion, it is effectively the same as having no remedy at all. And the ODPP it appears practice denial at will.
As for the Referendum Bill, one of the most serious pieces of legislation to enter the Parliament. Referendums can have a profound affect, even changing people’s rights. So what does the acting Attorney General submit? A poorly drafted Bill, lacking detail and which has already attracted criticism for its poor wording!
Another example of the level of incompetency in the offices of state in Fiji.
Chimoni Tauraga’s secret racist referendum agenda is to change constitution with:
1. I-taukei to be only called Fijians;
2. so called Greatest Councillor of Chieves to be in constitution.
3. No non-itaukei to be PM.
Chimoni wants to bring these racist changes by suppressing people’s freedom of speech. Blurry Coward Chimoni Tauraga. YOU WILL FAIL BIG TIME ON. LOOK FOR ANOTHER JOB AFTER NEXT ELECTION. Good that BaiKai sacked you from magistrate. Buka also earlier sacked you as AG as well. Now,you will be sacked by people of Fiji.
The problem at the ODPP is a reflection of favoritism and nepotism over meritorious and qualified candidates in civil service and board appointments. It’s so rife that it is sickening.
The appointments of Rabuku and Tikoisuva shat on all rules, processes and procedures. They are clearly not fit for the job, which is why they are running that office to the ground through sheer ineptness.
While in opposition, those criticizing FijiFirst for nepotism are now doing exactly the same. Hypocritical bastards like Rubuka, Baiman and Tabuya.
Rabuka’s clansmen and relatives include Rabuku, Rokoika at FICAC and Gilbert Vakalalabure at the Fiji Sports Council, to name a few.
Baiman appointed Richard the bitch Naidu as Fiscal Review Committee chair and assistant librarian Kiriti Patel as a committee member. They facilitated 7 year tax holiday for Fiji Water, and for good measure, 15% Vat to milk ordinary people dry.
While campaigning, never a day passed without Baiman the bastard criticizing FijiFirst for nepotism and high cost of living. As soon as he got into government, he went against his campaign promise. Karma strikes back, and his political career is over, besides being the most reviled politician in Fiji’s history for his cowardice and betrayal.
As pointed out by Fiji Transparency, there are major concerns about Baiman’s appointees on the FNPF board. He seems to have an adulation for Gujaratis, as there are three of them on the FNPF board, who were all FijiFirst sympathizers. Semi Nabobo, the NFP, general secretary, is totally unqualified for this board.
What we are witnessing is a master class in stupid board appointments by someone who used to be our stupid finance minister and deputy Prime Minister.
We should also be highly concerned about some of Baiman’s appointment to the Fiji National Provident Fund, such as Adhish Naidu, as anything Baiman touches turns to shit.
Lynda was another who railed against FijiFirst nepotism, only to appoint her nephew to the online safety commission, while double dipping on allowances and utilizing the very motorcade she endlessly criticized in Parliament. Hypocrite!
As many are realizing to their regret, if FijiFirst was bad, this government is far worse, and the sooner they are kicked out, the better.
Can anyone check on Laisani if she still picks young underage boys for her bedroom events. We have too many photos to offload soon. lol
Say, why was Ajaii Punja (Hari Punja’s son and Thakor’s father) only slapped on the wrist with $500 for a similar offence?
Iqbal Khan will have a field day with the inept prosecution.
One law for the rich in Fiji, one for the coconuts, one for all else.
