# THE REAL GEORGE SPEIGHT SETS THE RECORD STRAIGHT

Posted on May 28, 2025 17 Comments

Regular readers of Grubsheet will have noticed that a George Speight has been commenting on some of our stories. Many of us will have been wondering if it is THE George Speight. Well now we know. It isn’t.

In response to the latest “George Speight” comment, the real George Speight has written to Grubsheet setting the record straight.

Here’s the relevant comment and the 2000 rebellion leader’s response.

And that’s what we are doing. If George has a genuine yaca, let’s hear from him. Otherwise I will regard further correspondence from the email he provided (which certainly seemed authentic) as impersonation or in contemporary parlance, identity theft.

Given the content of the last comment, it would have been totally out of character for the real George Speight to praise Frank Bainimarama and certainly would have indicated a significant change of heart during his two decades behind bars. But now we know.

Grubsheet is now in touch with the Real Thing and whatever his actions in the past, we wish him well personally as he re-adjusts to life on the outside.

November 2024. George Speight is welcomed home

The 2000 national bogeyman

I guess everyone’s ego wilts away with age. Rabuka, Speight, Bainimara and others with similar history or would be for the future aspirants of glory in their hey days will go through this process, cos their actions in earlier life is not guided by their brains (if they had one). Mellowing takes a long process when their energy in the form of egoism is wasted.

TL — If the copy cat/pseudonym George Speight here was/is a vulagi kai india, then the real George Speight would have smelled him out.

      Read that again.

Your dark mind and black heart, blinds you to one-way racism and your weak intellect doesn’t help you.

      Know your racism better feckhead.

As much as we dislike Speight, I personally believe he was used by certain elements and some behind the coup were Indo Fijian Businessman. Mr Speight probably has had enough now that he is out and doesn’t have any grudges against anyone and wants to be left alone. Or, who knows, once GCC is up and running and has full control he may resurface again.

Obviously the vulagi kai India dislike George for what he did. But to some i’taukei he is a hero for standing up for them.

He did the crime and did the time. So leave him alone to get on with his life.

Let’s not forget that Mr Speight is a relative of Ratu Iloillo. Whichever place he has disappeared to, it is likely he is spreading his poison to the local youth.

It’s unfortunate that death penalty was revised.

Fiji has a way of going in circles. Look at this Foreign Correspondent documentary…we are still talking about the same thing since 2007 when this was made https://youtu.be/jxxiUMGkXDA?si=zLb35qft85JTn_hP

Seriously, how can anyone be convinced that message was from GS. I doubt GS knows how to turn on a mobile phone let alone use a computer. I don’t hold that against him seeing his circumstances. But that aside, it is like people were convinced that change would come about by electing a crackpot from 37 years ago. Seriously!
Did I mention the content in the message – how can that be from GS? Seriously!

Guess who enabled that crackpot to be elected? Two bigger crackpots – Bainimarama and Khaiyum. They became so insufferable in their arrogance that their supporters deserted them in large numbers. Yes, Bainimarama and Khaiyum more than anyone else, gifted Rabuka his win because they thought the sun shines from their anus and they could get away with anything they wanted. As they say the higher, the ego, the bigger the fall. And you are the biggest idiot for not seeing what is obvious to everyone else and going on and on like a broken record and sounding really stupid in the process.

So I take it that you voted for Rabuka and now regret it?
As for sounding like a broken record, isn’t everyone else here in the same boat because they all go on and on about the same things as well.

He has given me his (genuine) email address and his mobile phone number. So once again, it’s best not to make the assumption that everyone is an idiot except you.

Underestimating GS would be a very bad mistake indeed. He’ll certainly be star attraction if he appears at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings.

I’m confident in saying this and most people who suffered because of this rapist and racist thug – we don’t wish him well.

What we do wish is for this MF to rot and die a horrible and excruciating death. I hope he suffers immeasurable pain till his last breath after which Hell awaits him and where he shall await the arrival of Rabuka or vice versa.

This guy will never get any mercy from those who suffered and no amount of apologies or remorse will ever negate nor mitigate his atrocities.

So…rot in HELL MF. Cant wait to hear the news of his death and that of Rabuka.

“They have their own religion, they don’t dress the same, they don’t speak the same language, they don’t smell the same.”..direct quote from Speight

    That ghastly man resurfaces.

Imagine his vitriol now that itaukei wear same clothes, jewellery and make-up like vulagi indians. And worst, itaukei cook indian food more than their traditional foods. OMG…shock horror…itaukei must now smell same as vulagi…

I am sorry but not many grass roots descendants of Fiji girmitiyas have time for this man. Being exposed even from afar is traumatic for many… he has caused a lot a lot of lifelong trauma for the indian vulagis.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
