So we are now set to get a convicted criminal, racist, misogynist and alleged child abuser as our next president and head of state when parliament meets to vote this morning. (11.00am)
A curse on the NFP and those members of the former FijiFirst who have joined the People’s Alliance in inflicting this monster on the nation. May you burn in the fires of political hell. And especially the loathsome Biman Prasad, Sitiveni Rabuka‘s oleaginous, fawning wallah (servant boy) who has turned out to be the most unprincipled opportunist of all.
For a great many Fijians who put their trust in the NFP, Baimaan the Betrayer was already a marked man. But foisting Naiqama Lalabalavu on the nation is the final straw and they are waiting with baseball bats to smash the NFP to a pulp come election day.
There is particular disappointment about Lenora Qereqeretabua, Pio Tikoduadua, Sashi Kiran and Agni Deo Singh choosing to side with Biman Prasad in supporting Ratu Naiqama for president. Because they too have shown themselves to be equally unprincipled and have trashed their own integrity and any confidence voters had in them.
The Prime Minister’s contempt for public disquiet about the choice of his own chief for president is summed up in the following astonishing comment in Friday’s Fiji Sun:
The arrogance of the Coalition knows no bounds. And they are beneath contempt.
Shamima Ali turned a blind eye to Lynda Tabuya’s drug and sex scandal and enabled her to remain as Minister for Women and Children without censure. But she has finally fallen out with her over Tabuya’s grotesque description of Naiqama Lalabalavu as a champion of women’s rights when he has a record of gross misogyny.
Is it really any wonder that the Minister for Bonking and Weed has lined up with a champion of misogyny? She thought nothing of having “brutal” sex in Room 233 with a domestic violence abuser in the form of Aseri Radrodro. Tabuya inhabits a moral vacuum on every front.
Of course, no mention in Pravda ( the Fiji Times) about Ratu Naiqama’s two year suspension from the parliament for calling Dr Jiko Luveni, “vutusona” – a derogatory reference to anal sex – and “cavuka” – retarded or mentally challenged. And of course, the Queen of Tart’s response to Shamima Ali’s criticism gets more space than the criticism itself.
All of which means that rather than being a unifying figure, which is what the head of state is meant to be, Ratu Naiqama is a divisive influence even before he assumes the presidency.
These guys have really lost the plot altogether. And don’t deserve to stay in government any longer than it takes to consign them to the dustbin of history.
Tick, tick, tick.

Traitors! Who deserve a traitor’s political death.
The NFP might be “very happy” but their traditional supporters are enraged at their betrayal.
Nfp voter says
I voted for Biman like may others thinking he has integrity and honesty but above all I thought he will bring a change to better the lives of all Fijians.
Biman has only been a boot licker and ass kisser so far. He has put his friends and family into positions of power and brought nothing but pain and suffering for Fijians through the budget.
I hope the people of Fiji give such a kick to this coward in the next election that his name is obliterated from politics.
The Traitor….thats what he will be known as forever.
Peter says
The Bible says in Revelations that the last days before Rapture will be ruled by evil. The Bible is coming true to it’s word.
Jesus must be around the corner.
Peter says
The root cause of this problem is one Aiyaz Satan Khaiyum. Had he been a decent human being he would still be in government. I remember you told readers that you had asked him to be nice ,once and he purportedly replied he didn’t need to be nice to anyone. All this while he was very busy placing muslims in every management position in government.
These new clowns couldn’t thank Aiyaz enough for his bastardry. The new clowns ONLY came into power because everyone had had enough of the rogue former AG.
ROTFI’s Patriot says
A country deserves its leaders. With this mindset, you dead set represent the wider population who voted the current lot in-all on the basis of misguided emotion of one person. You’re still claiming Muslims were in power and ASK had done a whole lot of bad. Yet with all the machinery and resources of the Coalition they have yet to find dirt on him. All they’re doing is slinging mud hoping it will stick.
You’re blaming your poor choices and ability to assess what an alternative government brings on someone else. You need to take account of your poor decision making (if you think that the current lot have disappointed).
It was always a choice between two known evils, and selection of the lesser. YOU chose amongst so many others thinking the SNAKE would change or the flowery language and ideas (but non-sensical such as debt) brought by Baimaan meant he would be better at the job.
YOU fell for the one-sided analysis of one Richard K Naidu week-in-week-out.
YOU take ownership of your own misguided voting and make a better, informed and analysed decision at the next election.

@Peter. Were the people appointed by the former AG cited for misconduct as lawyers, investigated by FICAC for fraud, convicted by the courts, etc?

There is no true leader for the minority races (Indo-Fijian in particular) in Fiji. Nobody viewed Biman as the Indo-Fijian choice as leader because they all voted for Fiji First.
This was what Chaudhry was but that is no longer the case. He has no high ground to stand on himself regarding Ratu Naiqama as Labour tried to form government with CAMV in 2001 which was led by Ratu Naiqama and included George Speight.
Bainimarama was the leader chosen by the Indo-Fijians but he slowly disenchanted the I-taukei who voted for him and gradually lost their votes every election. Now he cannot run but he and Khaiyum still have the confidence that they will win their appeal and be eligible to run in 2026. But that is a big IF.
So who will the Indo-Fijians look to come 2026? Will they run back to Chaudhry? Or return to the original Indo-Fijian force the NFP? Or will Bainimarama make a triumphant return in time for 2026? Interesting times ahead that will determine the future of this nation.
Leaders Legacy says
I read your post GD after seeing the US news as their presidential election campaign is closing too.
I just shook my head in total disgust thinking of our beloved Fiji as Harris vowed to put the country above party and above self, saying “I pledge to seek common ground and common sense solutions to make your life better. I am not looking to score political points. I am looking to make progress. I pledge to listen to experts, to those who will be impacted by decisions I make, and to people who disagree with me. Unlike Donald Trump, I don’t believe people who disagree with me are the enemy. He wants to put them in jail. I’ll give them a seat at the table.”
Dishonourable selfish leaders we in Fiji have. What a legacy they will leave behind for our youth, children and future generations.
Betrayed by Coalition says
Biman has sold himself. For all the idiots cheering the choices of this coalition government be warned, what you give will come back to you.
The hatred and racism of social media is nauseating. We live in a country of many races and religions but the blatant nakedness with which this coalition is rooting our people is a sad sight.
Many more continue to leave Fiji. There are times we will always regret in out lives for the choices we made. This time and this government will be regretted by everyone in the days ahead.
Feeling so sorry for our beloved nation as she continues to be pillaged by thieves, coup makers, racists and their cronies.
Fiji Watcher says
The vote tomorrow will enshrine my belief and that of many Fijians that the NFP and Biman in particular are traitors, not only to the Indo-Fijian people but to those who believed that they were a party that believed in integrity and a moral code of conduct.
As for the gang of 9 former FijiFrst and that’s what they are, a gang, out to get whatever they can suck out of being a member of Parliament! 30 pieces of silver? No, you have no moral code and are worse still than those you now cohabitate with.
Wait and watch says
This triumph is for the indigenous.
Time to go search your souls and keep your daughters safe.
The country has gone to the dogs, officially.
WTF NFP. says
I’m so disappointed and disillusioned by the NFP.
Lenora, I’m holding my breath that you could go down in history as the brave woman, who broke ranks from the fallen and rejected this divisive, racist, misogynist, convicted criminal, alleged deviant and arsonist as President.
Naiqama might gain the vote of self serving and greedy politicians but he will never have credibility in the eyes of the world.
How disgraceful to have such a man represent Fiji.
Lenora Star or Scar says
Many are indeed holding their breath on Lenora. She voted for the MPs pay rise and is no longer the star that she was but will surely be a scar when she votes for Tui Cakau.
Her maiden parliamentary speech in 2018 was refreshing, breathtaking, the talk of the country, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5RVLNu75b8&t=3s. We wowed especially her take on Leadership, as below. Her last paragraph was a beauty but is no longer so!
“Leadership
To quote Leadership guru, John C Maxwell, “Everything rises and falls on leadership.”
I believe that is the same when it comes to a country; when the leadership is fair, when the leadership is compassionate, when the leadership leads with love first and foremost, you see that reflected in its citizens.”
Having watched the interjections, aping and other behaviour on show in this house over the last four years, I cannot help but be reminded of a school-yard bully and the obligatory gaggle of buddies, always jostling for an approving pat on their backs.
Just about everyone I speak to hopes that we will be better behaved over the next four years. That should be easy to do IF we keep in mind always who put us here and why, and who pays our salaries.
In my first few days in Parliament, I see, hear and feel the ‘might’ of the Govt Side, and hear of how they are the only ones who have and are capable of the many great things quoted endlessly. The Hon PM said in his speech on Monday, “I am here to listen to you and take your concerns seriously. And I am here to build a better future for all Fijians, wherever they may be in the country.”
Well, we on this side of the floor represent 49.6% of the Fijians the Hon PM was talking about. So please take the concerns of that 49.6% of Fijians seriously when we highlight them in this House.
Any Government must remain transparent and answerable to the public at all times, and a good Opposition should put the spotlight on serious issues and have them resolved quickly.”
So Dear Lenora, please prove us wrong and don’t vote for the PM’s nominee. Remember, NFP is already crushed, even before 2026! You can still live comfortably without your ministerial privileges, unlike those self-servers who will vote for Tui Cakau.

The new President is a given at this point. Should we be bracing for whoever they decide will be the new Speaker?
Disenchanted says
A racist paedophile will tomorrow become the president of Fiji due to the ineptitude of the NFP leader. A lousy politician who had so much power but lost everything due to his ineptitude.
He betrayed his own community for his own selfish interests, cozied up to and kissed the ass of the racist snake even when he treated him like shit.
Due to this inept man, today the minorities have lost everything in this country.
Sad Observer Scared for Fiji says
Sadly, he is a good fit with the rest of the creepy clowns. Even sadder is that should anyone of integrity be found in a leadership position in Government, they’d quickly sour being the only one pushing integrity uphill and achieve very little.
Die NFP! says
To the unprincipled traitors of NFP – BIMAN, LENORA, PIO, SASHI and the other fella Minister of Labor.
Enjoy your last term in parliament!
Die forever NFP!

Rabuka has made himself a god. A very powerful god. Absolute power. “They (the people) do not have a say”.
Remember this voters. Don’t forget.
2nd Darkest Day says
MPs, AG, A/CJ, Justice Minister, CR, A/FICAC Head, DPP and DDPP, TLTB CEO and other like minds are already celebrating the 2nd darkest day in Fiji’s history. The darkest of course was 14th May 1987. So PM is inching well on his way to accomplishing fully his 1987 coup objectives. We the people simply “do not have a say”! They all deserve special mention and to be exhibits at the Fiji Museum for our children – our FUTURE – to see and emulate. So disgusting. Fiji – from the uttermost to the guttermost!
Get Up Fiji says
Isa Fiji, this was how we fell into the snake’s trap. We were absolutely done and dusted with FB and ASK dictatorship that we just voted for the next best thing that was parading around at the time, with their clothes on I should add. What we now have is the stink reality of the great con Rabuka Snake played on us.
The cheek and audacity of him to say in today’s Fiji Sun when questioned on how the general public is against his choice of Naiqama as president; Rabuka said, “they don’t have a say.” Rabuka is now being confronted and cornered, and so like the snake he is, he is lashing out as his true colours come to the fore. Has he stopped to think of Naiqama, the alleged paedo, strutting the world stage shaming Fiji as he does? How is this morally, or even intellectually acceptable?
Minister after minister are endorsing the paedo guy to be president. These pollies don’t have a conscience!! The poor and common man on the street struggles while these crooks feed their dirty snouts in the nations coffers. The victims of sexual violence silently watch on as a perpetrator is rewarded with the position of President of Fiji. How is this fair or justifiable?
Rabuka, please address the nation and tell the hurting, defiled girls, and women who have suffered sexual abuse how your endorsement is morally justified.
Rabuka, have you ever thought what that intellectually challenged girl that paedo Naiqama allegedly raped might be feeling as she sees you and your bunch of evil cronies endorse him for president? This is sick!!!
Fiji has gone to the dogs, anarchy is around the corner, let’s just hope there’s plenty of plane seats available when the mad rush is made towards Nadi International Airport. What irreparable harm Rabuka has done to our beloved Fiji.
Your turn will come Rabuka, you will be held accountable for the damage you have done to Fiji since you first arrived on the scene in 1987. You have no morals or conscience. You are a Traitor of the highest order for betraying your country.
Wait and see says
People are going on and on. They all have already forgotten that Baimaan’s arse was saved by Rabuka only a few weeks ago in the FICAC saga, who were just about to charge him. So Baimaan has no choice but to lick not only Rabuka’s arse but to suck his c**k as well for a very long time. That aside, the man is tatti. He is flying high now. So were members of the previous government.
True character says
Just imagine the true character of a person who defiled a disabled young, helpless and innocent girl by a person who she probably looked up to as she was brought up in his household. Why aren’t her parents speaking up for their girl or are they showing their respect for their chief and assisting him in covering up his crime? The iTaukei way – the right way. Now this dumbarse will be really above the law and believe you me, he will exercise his powers for his self-centered agenda and the people will just watch like they are doing now. According to the PM and many like him, this person’s true character qualifies him immensley for the job.
Fijiwala says
So a twice impeached , 40 indictments, 1 liable conviction for rape, an insurrectionist, a facist, sides with dictators, adulterer, once bankrupt person could possibly become the 47th President of America next week which will have consequences for the entire world order.
As for Fiji, let the people decide in 2026 if the current lot is worth Governing them or they need to be tossed out.
The people are always right.
Cursed says
As a woman I think today will write the saddest day in history for Fiji.
Today will write that a child rapist can be the President in this country.
Take note Vanua of Cakaudrove.
The land has eyes.
Just like the land, the child has a soul.
This will come back to haunt the vanua of Cakaudrove and the people of the Parliament who will vote today.
The eyes and the soul of the land will never pardon you all.
The curse will be scattered upon the August House because today evil will win over the people of the land.
Begging Women MPs says
I hope the women in the Parliament will read this today before they cast their votes.
This here is a strong statement. It will stand true and will not be moved in how Fiji sees the future of all who sit in August house next election.
If the child cries, the earth cries.
I hope that Lenora, Tabuya, Sashi, and whoever else is there reads this curse well.
Your votes today dictates your future in the Parliament and how the country will uphold you all for life. Parliament stints are short lived. You still have to face the consequences past this glorified life today. Vote with conscience and integrity as wise women. That will be the true legacy of all you women. The ball is in your court.
A Chand says
Biman Prasad is all about himself and his current power, riding on the NFP platform, and still sucking up to Rabuka and the PAP in spite of the insults and incriminations which would have been sufficient to send anyone packing. He is blot on academia!
We see no hope in the current government and not a chance for justice and fairness. They all know that they will make hay while the sun shines, maybe for another 24 months.
Our only hope is to learn from our own mistakes, poor judgements and begin the process to ensure a future government that will be for the people. We have many capable and decent people who should rise above the pettiness and work towards being a representative voice for all Fijians.
Slacker says
I guess we’ll have another loser native Fijian as president.
History books says
Commander and his forces will soon be planning a parade to welcome their new treasonous Commander-in-Chief. To be attended by the PM and his self-serving comrades and those who have not been brought to justice for their crimes but have been forgiven and have reconciled. The 2000 mutiny at Sukanaivalu Barracks can never be erased from the history books.
Only me says
The itaukeis president should be investigated for his alleged pedophilia. Just like the current President was investigated and stepped down. It can be done. He will be elected today no doubt but he can be taken yo task and stripped of the role. There is hope yet. Come on police, Shamima, you have the powers to do that.
Fijian Observer says
Today will reconfirm who in Parliament and within the coalition Government is unashamed to continue to ride the gravy train .. on the backs of hardworking & struggling Fijians who are finding it harder to make ends meet.
This government and coalition is fixated on maintaining power for the sake of their own personal gain a.k.a corrupt.
Words fail to express the disappointment and dissatisfaction that this lot continue to leave with us daily .
Quote :
Corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an individual, the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country.
Karl Kraus
Cheap as says
Biman, the boastful and self professed economist, embodies what the foremost economist of the world in his time, Sir Maynard Keynes wrote thus:
the ideas of economists and political philosophers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than is commonly understood. Indeed, the world is ruled by little else. Practical men, who believe themselves to be quite exempt from any intellectual influences, are usually the slaves of some defunct economist. Madmen in authority, who hear voices in the air, are distilling their frenzy from some academic scribbler of a few years back. I am sure that the power of vested interests is vastly exaggerated compared with the gradual encroachment of ideas. (Keynes 1936, Chapter 24)
Biman is slave to the so-called Washington consensus of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. He is a dangerous text book neo liberal economist who if he has his way would tax the working class out of existence, and privatise all state-owned enterprises in search of private gain. In other words, sell his own grand mother.
He can’t be trusted. Pio and Lenora have become their master’s voice, bahaut jute. And Sashi Kiran has run out of issues to cry about to big Dada.
Cry our beloved country.
Waste of energy says
All Sashi Kiran does is the waste of a Truth and Reconciliation sessions. It is tiring.
Children are homeless and there are meetings after meetings with no meaningful long term solutions. Even meeting attendees and donor agencies are tired of seeing no actions.
Salusalu, cakes, food is all people want.
Fiji, mark this moment. It is yet another beginning of a huge decline in the moral compass of all those in parliament today.
Throw her out says
Shamima woke up 🦋
Oh! Bless the heavens she did.
Wtf was she when this same man was endorsed as a Speaker of the House!
I remember! She was busy praising the new change, new horizon, least number of criminal cases.
This woman is the worst woman thing that has happened to Fiji. The donors have been watching her stances and don’t be fooled that funding cuts will be coming soon.
Shameless hypocrisy.

Not forgetting the farewell drama and costs for the outgoing President. All hands in the cookie jar,. scrape the bottom of the barrel until Fiji goes bankrupt and Fiji becomes a parallel “Lord of the Flies”. In my opinion,
The stage is all set for Rabuka to achieve all his remaining objectives of his 1987 coup, legally this time.
President Ratu Naiqama will be great asset for us to help change the constitution and make key appointments.
– Rabuka will not be responsible for any dirty laundry, it will be all put on President Ratu Naiqama since he is not politically aligned, in theory.
– he will be good help in changing the constitution. Forget about the requirements in 2013 Constitution, referendum and voting. We can force it through the Court. The A/CJ(most capable), DPP (genuine), President (neutral), FICAC (trying to clean up FFP mess), CP (humble), PM (the rambo), will get the job done.
– Georgie will be in key position, of course he is well educated or maybe. He will be rewarded as PM or President of FJ in future.
– nothing will stop Shane Stevo from becoming next big boss in RFMF. These boys did their times for us, it is only fair for them to be rewarded.
– ODPP will recommend charges against Villiame K. He will not be the president then, end up in the court.
– the group of 9 in parliament will officially sign MOU to support PAP. They have no conscience and never had any allegiance to FB This will be their hope of coming back to parliament in 2026, don’t forget the hefty pay packages they enjoy.
– by then NFP will be worthless. It will be time for FICAC to charge Be-imaan P. Rabuka will say he is helpless because he does not want to be involved in judicial decision. He is a great statesman, anyway. He will visit Be-imaan in prison to show sympathy. Also, it will be good to show FICAC is not a puppet of PAP.
– PM already knows how long Ratu Naiqama the president will be. Once all above is achieved Ratu Naiqama will have a private discussion with Rabuka and tender his resignation on grounds of poor health. It will be time to rotate amongst the Confederacies the opportunity to appoint the new president. Don’t forget it is time to please the voters, elections are coming up.
– by 2026 hopefully kai-india population will drop by another 10-20%. They will not be interested in voting anyway. They have already back stabbed FB. In return for the kai-india votes Be-imaan has stabbed his own people for the good future he promised during election.
– the political decisions by Be-imaan will make souls of late NFP leaders like ADP, JRR, SMK, IJ, KCR, etc turn in their graves. Not to mention the doings of the fireman (agni) and chutney girl SK. It reminds me of a hindi saying that a Indian workmate told me once; “you need a branch handle up the arse of an axe for it to chop another branch”. You answer for yourself, wasn’t the NFP branch up the rear end of PAP for creating the todays suffering of the kai-indias in FJ.
– the sugar industry will be wrapped up soon. The noise from minister C Singh to please the farmers is actually meant for pleasing the PM.
– today the itaukeis are engineers, trades people, doctors, lawyer, professors, you name any profession. WE didn’t have this in 1987. Now we are working on getting more united. Why do we need kai-indias anymore.
– BM had a good support from itaukeis, especially the young and educated ones. It is the kai-indias who voted out FFP, why blame us itaukei now.
– the stage is all set for revolution in FJ. I think the smart kai-indias will be able to read between the lines and start preparing for their flyt, sooner the better. You should thank Rambo that your people are all over the world now. Leaving Fiji now is not as difficult as it was in 1987.
Please note, I am not against you kai-india people. Your people are my best friends, neighbours and workmates. You are hard working, peaceful, but mostly liu-muri that can not be trusted. Unfortunately, this is the reality you guys face in future FJ.
* I hope critics realise we itaukeis are all related, Christians, most forgiving in according to our culture.
MR AUGUSTINE MINIMBI says
Racist cur. You’ll get what is coming to you.
Pundit and prophet says
Vinaka Freddy. Thank you for your insights. Shame on anyone who voted in 2022 on jealousy and bigotry mindset, rather than qualities of the candidate and policies of the political party. My opinion ASK became the achilles heel of FF, in part his own doing and a large part due to the prejudice of voters both Kai India (non Muslim) and i taukei nationalists, the focus being on his identity of who he was. For those who voted for ASK only because of his identity (Muslim) being same as them and nothing else is also questionable.
As for another exodus – it is sad for anyone who does not have fair opportunity in Fiji but cannot escape.. their entrapment and tears will continue to irrigate the dusty ground. Applicable to any citizen regardless of race. The leaders who are tasked with developing Fiji to raise the standard of living for everyone have mostly instead feathered their own nests.
Let’s see if Diwali 2026 is worth celebrating or time to put the oil lamps in storage for 10 or 12 years.
