# WELCOME TO FIJI. WHERE A JUDICIAL RULING AND PRESIDENTIAL DIRECTIVE ARE WORTHLESS (UPDATED)

Posted on February 13, 2025 29 Comments

The party resumes at the ODPP, where a month after being exonerated and reinstated, Christopher Pryde is again sidelined and Nancy Tikoisuva is back in charge of the bottles.

So, Fiji. We have more trumped up charges against the DPP on top of the refusal to suspend Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner for being in obvious contempt of the Commission of Inquiry into her appointment.

The assault on the rule of law by the Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, as head of the Judicial Services Commission goes from bad to worse. And it is all being enabled, even orchestrated, by Sitiveni Rabuka and his equally rogue Attorney General, Graham Leung.

“Serious allegations of financial misconduct?” They are from the same file on Christopher Pryde that the JSC and the Tribunal judges had for the best part of two years and rejected. And now they are being recycled in a massive stitch-up to remove the DPP despite his exoneration on equally trumped-up charges of misbehaviour.

The Coalition is intent on capturing the ODPP to smash its independence and thwart any prosecution arising from the current police investigations into Barbara Malimali and Biman Prasad. It is naked state capture of a supposedly independent institution and as such, presents a clear and present danger to national security and the national interest.

From today’s Fiji Times

From today’s Fiji Sun

So much for the three High Court judges who constituted the Tribunal that cleared Christopher Pryde of wrongdoing and the following worthless letter of reinstated by the President, Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

The conduct of the state under the “New Order” is a sick farce.

WANTED. FOR GOING ROGUE. HIS LORDSHIP THE CHIEF JUSTICE.

LAWLESS, CANTANKEROUS AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

Now back in control of the ODPP. And unlike Francis Puleiwai, Nancy will do as she is told.

UPDATE:

And fresh from having told the nation, to general mirth, that the rule of law has been restored and the judiciary is independent, Biman Prasad is also defying the presidential order.

Five weeks after that directive was given on January 7, Grubsheet understands that Christopher Pryde is still waiting for his full entitlements to be paid.

The rule of law, let alone the meaning of the word “immediate”, means as little to the Finance Minister as its does to the rest of them.

The NFP leader – who is a dead man walking in electoral terms as the “Great Betrayer” and all-round hypocrite – is a genuine disgrace.

It’s a no win game. They are hell bent on establishing Fijian supremacy in every sector with the full support of Sitiveni Rabuka. This government needed shameless gutter level operatives to work on indigenous Fijianisation and got a solid mob for the job.

These ethno-nationalist, racist iTaukei gang of untouchables are enjoying unfettered powers as never seen before. And, sadly they seemed to be getting away with it because in Fiji there are currently no checks and balances or accountability. I suspect Fiji’s military are probably in cahoots with them as well. They are enjoying hitherto unaccountable or unstoppable trappings of power in the judiciary, parliament, police and the military. Because no one is prepared to “rock the boat” and say enough is enough. The corruption and decadence therefore is endemic.

Meanwhile, the ordinary folks in Fiji are suffering economic pains and other hardships back home, while these MPs, ministers, PM are travelling all over the world, earning huge amounts of daily per diem allowances and are living beyond their dreams.

I read the other day that in Labasa, two young iTaukei allegedly robbed and killed an Indo-Fijian elderly beggar, and that shows how the situation in Fiji has deteriorated and reached the point of no return.

Meanwhile rabuka is busy collecting his Fiji Water bribe money and his bitch Biman is telling the whole country that we are lucky that the media is now free to report ANYTHING and that the media can now be critical of the government and that it’s very clear that the judiciary is INDEPENDENT.

I wonder what the international community thinks. Do pigs really fly in fiji?

This is what is meant by “we have qualified candidates in Fiji to do the job”. Yes qualified in expression on the face, look like they know what they doing.

I want to question the breed of wannabe ministers and politicians that jetted in to Fiji providing the “look” that they will bring a difference to the corruption. To date Ben Kush has sold his soul to Rambo uttering nothing but praise. And Shailendra Raju is interested in building his house, showing off his car and the lunches he eats.

Corruption is rife and the future looks bleak.

Recently, a minister in the NSW government stepped down as her use of a ministerial driver wasn’t justified on a trip to Hunter Valley.

And in Fiji? These entitled self righteous thugs have no shame at all.

They are also being encouraged by their supporters, who see nothing wrong in these corrupt practices, as long as the itaukei are in power, which gives them a false sense of security.

One remarkable precedent in Fiji when the then Cabinet Minister and Independent MP, Ratu Jo Nacola, resigned immediately after a family member crashed his Ministerial car.

Guess who was PM that received and accepted the resignation? None other than Rabuka, who never learnt anything useful from that experience.

Ratu Jo is very much a rare species.

Agree. There is hardly any decent politician left with an ounce of moral or ethics. It is painful to watch.

I remember growing up in the 90s, there were more MPs who could actually speak in public, than those who couldn’t.
Used to listen to them on radio, watch them on the telly, even go with our parents to their campaigns.

This bunch, 90% of them can’t even articulate themselves. I honestly believe they can’t even comprehend the speech that has been written for them.

Biman Prasad’s list of ‘baimani’ and continued assault on all Fijians, and especially non i Taukeis, is alarming.

The guy must have learnt to develop such impervious skin and an even thicker skull. It is unbelievable that he is able to sleep peacefully, amidst the barrage of assaults and defiance of good governance.

After destroying USP, using Pal to get his revenge on Rajesh Chandra, now he is teaming up with Rabuka (some even claim ‘using’ him, which is not hard) to destroy Fiji.

The list of offences, ranging from illegally supporting GGI, Pacific Poly, cronyism, nepotism and using his NFP power in the wobbly Coalition to avoid prosecution is just extraordinary.

Today we read how the ugly ethno-nationalist agenda of the current government is being played out with the people of Toko, mostly Indo-Fijians, put on notice. There are many other examples from Labasa, Tailevu, Namosi etc. The Toko farmers who were amongst the proud growers who propped up the Government for decades through their hard work on sugar cane farms, now are being defended by a young lawyer who is speaking up on their plight.

No sign of Biman Prasad, Agni Deo Sing, Charan Jeeth Singh, Jagnath Sami or Pramesh Chand.

And he gleefully uses his usual diversionary tactics on issues such as media freedom, economy, climate change, security to try and fool the public.

    2026 cannot come soon enough.

Fiji’s Judiciary is facing its worst crise under Chief Justice Temo, whose blatant disregard for fairness and merit has eroded public trust in Fiji’s legal system. Instead of upholding the rule of law,Temo continues to manipulate the system, shielded by PM Rabuka and President Naiqama. This dangerous alliance threatens the very foundation of democracy in Fiji.

With a compromised judiciary and a president who is incapacitated, it merely serves as a rubber stamp for Temo and Rabuka. Fiji is now under the control of those who flout legal and ethical standards.

Temo has repeatedly ignored legal precedent, due process, and fundamental principles of justice. His rulings and actions increasingly reflect political favouratism rather than adherence to the law. When the judiciary is no longer independent but an extension of the government’s political will, the people of Fiji are left with no avenue for justice.

The rot within the system has gone so deep that wrongdoing is now normalized. Those in power believe they can act with impunity because they are protected by the very institutions meant to hold them accountable. If Fijians don’t stand up now, the erosion of democracy will be complete.

The people of Fiji must not suffer in silence. It is time to demand accountability, fairness, and an end to this dangerous culture of political interference in the judiciary. Development Partners such as Australia and New Zealand that have zero tolerance for fraud and bad governance as a pre requisite for the grant of aid, must also wake up to the reality that their tax payers’ money is being funnelled into a corrupt system. Their continued financial and diplomatic support enables a government that disregards democracy, the rule of law, and the basics rights of Fijians. At least Trump’s action regarding USAID is indirectly an action that will tell the world that aid shouldn’t be taken for granted.

If these so-called democratic partners truly stand for justice and good governance, they must take a stand against this blatant abuse of power.

It is frightening that innocent people will get penalized and undeserving law breakers will be exonerated.

The judiciary must be cleaned up.

I’d be surprised if Rabuka had $10 for a handjob by Tabuya.

This government is so broke, it will do anything to get money into the bank accounts so they can continue pillaging the coffers.

Pryde wont see a single cent ever reach his bank account.

This time, the new COI will consist of judges who will simply read out Temo’s ruling and the entire thing will be a whitewash to tar and feather Pryde well and properly without fail.

I think the time is coming for Pryde to realise that until this government changes, along with the imbecile appointed to head the judiciary, nothing will be in his favour. Its time to hold your head high and walk away.

    Fiji’s judiciary and government?

It’s a freakin’ disaster, folks! It’s like a bad reality show!

“Survivor: Courtroom Edition” meets “Big Brother: Dictatorship”, and guess what?!

    NOBODY’S GETTING OUT ALIVE!

Every week, these clowns are playing these pathetic games like “Let’s Pretend The Tribunal Verdict Never Happened” ,”Create Charges So Ridiculous, Even Your Dog Would Laugh!”, and “Kiss the AG’s Arse Until You’ve Got a Tongue Print”

    WHAT’S THE PRIZE?!

A nice cushy job you don’t deserve to have, a paycheck with your name on it and the RIGHT to pretend the law is still something that matters!!

The LOSERS?! Oh, they get trashed, discredited and if they’re lucky, maybe they get recycled just long enough to be humiliated AGAIN! WHO CARES?

Christopher Pryde? OH, YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE SAFE?!! HAHAHA! Surprise, motherf**er, the producers got a twist for ya! You’re OUT!

And Barbara Malimali? She’s got more plot armour than a superhero—she’s the cockroach that WON’T DIE!

    Meanwhile, the Chief Justice?!

He’s not the “honourable” guy—you know what he is?!

He’s the DIRTY LITTLE VILLAIN in a cheap suit, pulling strings behind the scenes, making sure the REAL criminals are running the show!

    And Rabuka?!

OH, you wanna talk about SHADY EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS?

He’s the greasy slimeball in the back, saying “Yeah, let’s rig it, who cares?!”

The government? Oh, you mean the same group of MORONS running this circus show?!

Same dirty producers, same tired script, same disaster!

    The whole country?!

It’s just a SET for the next season of: “How to Destroy Your Country While Making Sure You Smile Like A Freaking IDIOT!

    And the rule of law?

It’s not DEAD—it’s been BEATEN, STABBED, AND THROWN INTO A GUTTER, face first, surrounded by cheap booze and unfinished bottles!

    And guess what?!

    Nobody cares!

They’re ALL stumbling over it, drunk on their own lies, and not one of them even blinks an eye!

And it almost goes without saying that, of course, Constitutional Review meetings are being held in rooms closed to the media.

It’s so bleeding obvious that Rabuka and Baiman’s (and the rest of the Coalition’s) words (the media is free, and we are transparent) by far do not meet their actions. The hallmark feature of manipulation.

How easily the Fijian people are to be manipulated is now up to them.
