Fijians have risen this morning to the news that a domestic violence abuser and adulterer is back as Minister for Education. That in itself is an outrage. But the bigger outrage is the way the Coalition has allowed the education portfolio – arguably our most important – to become a playground for its squalid political manoeuvring and horse trading.
The education system is in crisis. Teachers are leaving in droves for better jobs overseas and there has been a collapse in standards, both in the classroom and in the behaviour of our young people, including the unprecedented availability of drugs in the nation’s schools.
The situation is so diabolical that the entire resources of the government should be dedicated to getting on top of this crisis. What has happened instead? We have had two ministers in the education portfolio in the space of 16 months, one of them – Aseri Radrodro – a disgraceful role model for the nation’s young people and the other – “Blinky Bill” Gavoka – so intellectually challenged that he once triggered public alarm by prophesying a tsunami that never came.
Now “Blinky Bill” has been shown the door and we’ve got the domestic violence abuser and love rat back. Why? Because Aseri Radrodro has managed to seize the leadership of SODELPA and has forced the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, to put him back in the portfolio that he stripped from him three months ago for insubordination and disobedience.
Yes, that’s right, folks. Aseri Radrodro has held a gun at the Prime Minister’s head of SODELPA bringing down the government and Rabuka has capitulated. As Grubsheet observed in our last posting, it is government by blackmail – a monster totally unfit for public office holding the entire Coalition – and the nation – over a barrel.
There are so many things wrong with this decision. But one of them is that the Prime Minister has again demonstrated in spectacular fashion that he is a liar. He tells us that Aseri Radrodro was only sidelined for three months – sin-binned like a football player – and now that the three months is up, he is coming back. Rubbish. He was removed altogether and sent to the back bench. At no stage did the PM ever suggest that it was only for three months. Yet another lasulasu-jhoot from the “Snake” to go with all the others, such as Alefina Vuki leaving the People’s Alliance for a government job when she left because she couldn’t stand its moral turpitude.
The truth is that Rabuka had no choice but to give in to Aseri Radrodro’s blackmail to save his own political skin. Yet even if the story of a three-month sin-binning was true, which it isn’t, why would any prime minister with even a skerrick of judgment and decency use the education portfolio as a revolving door when the nation’s schools are in such crisis? It is recklessness bordering on the criminal.
Grubsheet will have a lot more to say about this obscenity as time goes by, including targeting Aseri Radrodro and those in Fiji and overseas who are photographed with him in the same way we are targeting Lynda Tabuya – Radrodro’s sexual plaything. In yet another obscenity, Tabuya has kept her job as Minister for Women and Children despite the “brutal” sex and drug-taking in Room 233 of the Windsor Hotel. These two are fair game and so is the Coalition as a whole.
But amid the outrage at the government’s total lack of morality and ethics, the saddest thing is the way in which the nation’s young people and their parents have been betrayed. Not only having politicians foisted on them who are totally unfit to preside over their futures but the way in which this Prime Minister and this government have treated the education system with such disdain.
There is no excuse whatsoever for what has happened. To use the education portfolio in such a manner – as a political plaything – is a disgrace unprecedented in Fijian political history. A sacred trust – the care of our young – has been broken. The Coalition has forfeited its right to govern and the mums and dads of Fiji – plus their kids of voting age – are coming for them as soon as they get the chance to do so.
Now we know why she stuck around. Back to a ministerial salary and the perks. From $50.000 to a couple of hundred and more.
But with Lynda still lurking in the background as the rumoured power broker who assisted Aseri to get the SODELPA leadership. They deserve each other but the Fijian people don’t deserve them.
Both of them f***ing up our young people. One Minister for Education. One Minister for Children. Unforgivable.
It's a no brainer says
Disgraceful. What a way to start the day. They should hopefully go down in the polls next election, but probably won’t due to most Fijians not knowing the truth behind this sordid mess.
What a very sad day this is for Fiji.
However. Research into domestic abusers indicates that domestic abusers say that they “lost control”, however the truth is that they are totally in control and set up the disastrous set and then when all their stars are aligned they attack. Aseri’s conduct seems to prove this point. A cunning manipulator. In this case enabled by not one but two deluded women, and the entire coalition. Shame shame shame.
Graham Davis says
Sadly, the Fijian people will know it when their children become drug-addled dummies. The betrayal of our young people is unforgivable.

You would at least expect NFP to hold to its standards. Or you may have also been sucked in and polluted by the group mindset and culture – a case of ‘Stockholm syndrome’. Or is the motivation for you is to milk the best you can, till you can and in the limited, shrinking time you have? You surely are not good at this either with the bargaining power you have been mandated. Fake it, milk it till you make it! Remember no one can escape from any karma that unethically exploits any position of power and responsibility.
Change is here says
What can we say but watch this whole ship sink.
Till then line up your daughter’s and sons Fiji to shake hands with a woman basher and a Minister in 2 piece bikini selling sulus.
That’s Fiji for us.
No values and virtues left.
Rabuka’s leadership is here. This is what you all voted for.

Ring-a-ring-a-rosies
A pocket full of posers
A-tishoo!, a-tishoo!
We all fall down
Moses has sent his lover
To fetch a pail of jack-d
A-tishoo!, a-tishoo!
We all fall down
Baimaan on the steeple
Is singing to the people
A-tishoo!, a-tishoo!
We all fall down
The wedding bells are ringing
The boys and girls are a-smoking
A tissue, a tissue
We all fall down

Fiji’s politicians today come from the most incompetent, primitive and immoral class of people in the country. I am voting for Fijifirst in the next election, with or without Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum.

Siti “I gave myself the authority to do the coup” Rabuka had a somewhat busy week by his standards.
He had a leisurely parliamentary retreat, increased the retirement age, picked a violent adulterer to champion the development of children and will watch the drua play super rugby womens final to relax himself into the weekend.
Life is good for now and his guaranteed pension will see him through his retirement days to come. The rest of Fiji continue to struggle through the diminishing sources of income and increasing sources of social issues including drugs, not his problems to solve.
This man has single handedly destroyed Fiji since 1987 and still walks free and entitled to cause more damage thanks to the immunity clauses applicable only to select state terrorists.
The next election couldn’t come fast enough for the suffering citizens. For now they would be lining up in front of the embassies of NZ, Australia, Canada, and USA.
One has to wonder why he developed so much hatred towards Indians that has been the driving force for much of his destructive actions. His military studies in India would have something to do with his mindset. Maybe he will one day reveal all for us to understand.
In a God abiding leadership. says
Since everyone is so Godly, I looked up what is leadership in a biblical sense. The answers were clear.
It is submission and service. It is also humility and humbleness.
These virtues are not to be complicated with power, lust, negligence, and abuse.
Thought to put this here for a God abiding nation. In a God abiding so proclaimed leadership all things are failing.
What are you lookig at? says
Clearly the vast majority of Fijians are idiots. What is more they are proud idiots.
And I will be the first to defend their God-given right to be idiots in a free country.
But then, why do they complain so much when they choose to be idiots?

It’s hard to fathom that Fiji has become an absolute joke, a banana republic where anything goes and you can quote verses from the Bible to get away from it.
I really feel for those that did not vote for this circus of a government but are stuck and helpless now.
There is so much poverty, crime, homelessness, inflation, and mass exodus of trained people that come 2026, there will be nothing left to vote for.
What is now needed is fresh elections, this government is in too deep with so much baggage that they are at the brink of collapsing anyway.
NFP and Sodelpa need to take a good hard look at themselves at rethink why they are still in government.
Thinker says
The democratic process assumes the voters are informed and rational. This is why democracy may not be suitable for Fiji – because of the rights and ability of the voters to choose leaders who will ruin the nation yet be considered acceptable.
Imagine having a democratic vote in a prison – Should the captives be released immediately or not…1000 inmates and 300 corrections officers to vote on this! The result is pretty obvious in a democratic process in this case…prisoners will win the vote.
In some places the Iron Fist approach can work better outcomes. Bring back Frank and Co!
See Socrates ( Greek philosopher) thoughts on democracy.
Jay Sharma says
How disgraceful! But what can one expect from the father of racists coups in Fiji and NFP losers, who will bow down and go into bed with anyone so they can become part of a government. NFP on its own has been a powerless party since the great Sid Koya.
Shame on the current government, a woman basher as the education minister and a moral less minister for women and children. Our beloved Fiji deserves better. 2 more years and this government will go down as the worst government , all time.

Crafty move, so disappointing but expected…
The recent maneuver, though predictable, showcases a clever turnaround! Our Minister of Education seems to have the appeal from his proven ‘special’ accolades. How can he uplift our communities and the future of our country? What values does he truly embody to inspire our children’s future rightly? When will this charade cease? It’s evident that the brain drain to overseas nations, with all its repercussions, is glaringly apparent to all – one doesn’t need to be Einstein to see the massive loss of talent affecting us profoundly. There’s little hope until we witness a generational shift in leadership to reset our nation – a profoundly disheartening reality.
SLR, renowned for his political prowess, falls short on essential virtues. His lack of commitment, honesty, and will to rectify past wrongs and shape a better future for our children has been starkly reaffirmed. Instead of progress, it seems we’re witnessing regression. To him, nothing matters more than clutching onto power. We bestowed him with a mandate, and he’s capitalizing on it to the fullest extent. The government appears willing to go to any lengths to preserve itself. We eagerly anticipate some wisdom from our esteemed professor and colleagues in the government before our country descends into chaos. ‘The power of 1’ is the magic but is proving so detrimental!
May God bless Fiji and our people. Our leaders need that special epiphany!

What people seem to forget or are oblivious to is that this whole thing has to do with racists and racism. A significant majority think that the previous government was a vulagi government. That scenario must not be allowed to happen again, they think. They do not have a problem voting for crackpots, despots and crooks if that means keeping the vulagi out of government. Why else would one vote for a useless dickhead like Rabuka? I mean what has he done for his people in the last 37 years? And what has he done in the last 16 months except bask in glory. They very well know that the government cannot do anything for them, so they pray and fast that a vulagi God will. They do not have any problems with that vulagi!
A vulagi like Baimaan has been used to maintain government by the skin of their teeth. Baimaan is a whore just like Lynda, there is no difference.
The government is now looking like a brothel. They are all prostitutes if you think about it. All of them. They are all sucking up to a crackpot pimp and a God-fearing liar.

This government should be relabled “eat what comes out the back government”.
They literally ate what they shat out a few weeks ago.
So much for change.
Also clowns like certain NFP members defending PMs impotence as “tough decisions to maintain democracy”. My foot democracy, having a woman basher for minister for education…thats democracy for NFP.
What a bunch of hippocrites that cant see shit on their lips that sits past their noses.
I hope people can remember these things at the next poll and bury the NFP forever.
