# SELLING OUT FIJI’S MINORITIES FROM MELBOURNE (UPDATED)

Posted on August 18, 2024 43 Comments

The battle for equality in Fiji is already lost when Indo-Fijians like the ubiquitous "Colin Deoki from Australia" send letters to the Fiji Times saying, among other things, that iTaukei interests must be paramount and only iTaukei should be designated "Fijians". In other words, he opposes the common and equal citizenry and the common identity … [Read more...] about # SELLING OUT FIJI’S MINORITIES FROM MELBOURNE (UPDATED)

# THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE FACES THE LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

Posted on August 17, 2024 7 Comments

The sustained assault on the integrity of the criminal justice system by the Coalition and its hand-picked Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, has been one of the worst betrayals of a government that lied its way into power by one vote and thinks that constitutes a mandate to trash the constitutional furniture. Two years ago, for instance, … [Read more...] about # THE ACTING CHIEF JUSTICE FACES THE LAW OF UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES

# HIS LORDSHIP’S PANTS ARE ON FIRE

Posted on August 16, 2024 22 Comments

As if it isn't enough to have an Acting Chief Justice who is an outlaw - with his multiple violations of the Constitution and the chaos it is causing in the criminal justice system. Salesi Temo is now exposed as having misled the nation. In a published statement on July 25 in response to the furore over his decision - as head of the Judicial … [Read more...] about # HIS LORDSHIP’S PANTS ARE ON FIRE

# USP: LIES, DAMNED LIES AND STATISTICS

Posted on August 15, 2024 11 Comments

It is in the nature of industrial disputes for wild claims to be made and those who inhabit the lofty heights of academia are no different from even the most menial workers in sometimes gilding the lily to support their position. What are ordinary Fijians to make of the campaign by the two staff unions at USP to remove the Vice Chancellor, … [Read more...] about # USP: LIES, DAMNED LIES AND STATISTICS

# A CORRUPT ITAUKEI CABAL SPITS IN THE FACE OF THE LAW

Posted on August 14, 2024 23 Comments

Just when you think that things under the Coalition government can't get any worse. something always happens to set a new low and make a sick joke of the promises of the "new order" to be better than the old order when it is turning out to be infinitely worse. It may have been legal in the strictest sense for the latest Acting DPP, Nancy … [Read more...] about # A CORRUPT ITAUKEI CABAL SPITS IN THE FACE OF THE LAW

# SO MUCH FOR AN EARLY REVIEW OF THE CONSTITUTION (UPDATED)

Posted on August 14, 2024 19 Comments

Yes, let's talk about coups. All of them. Plus the mutiny in the RFMF in 2000. Because that's the pre-condition that Inia Seruiratu -the formally designated Opposition Leader and head of the "Bloc of 16" former FijiFirst MPs in the Parliament - has set for any review of the 2013 Constitution. Which has effectively blocked any hopes the Coalition … [Read more...] about # SO MUCH FOR AN EARLY REVIEW OF THE CONSTITUTION (UPDATED)

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
