# THE ACTING CJ PREJUDICES A CONSTITUTIONAL TRIBUNAL HEARING. HE MUST GO. (UPDATED)

Posted on July 25, 2024 7 Comments

Two weeks after the Prime Minister said the Acting Chief Justice had been wrong to cut off Christopher Pryde’s salary in advance of a tribunal hearing into the charge against him of misbehaviour, Salesi Temo doubles down and issues an astonishing statement that completely prejudices the DPP’s case. Justice Temo says that Christopher Pryde’s … [Read more...] about # THE ACTING CJ PREJUDICES A CONSTITUTIONAL TRIBUNAL HEARING. HE MUST GO. (UPDATED)

# AT LAST! AND GRUBSHEET COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER

Posted on July 25, 2024 11 Comments

The grave injustice and illegality of the treatment metered out to the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, has been like a "broken record" in these columns in recent weeks - to use the description of one of our critics - but finally our campaign to get the local mainstream media in Fiji to embrace the story has paid off. And in spectacular … [Read more...] about # AT LAST! AND GRUBSHEET COULDN’T HAVE SAID IT BETTER

# FIJI TO TURN UGLY AT THE OLYMPICS

Posted on July 24, 2024 27 Comments

So Fiji's Rugby Sevens team is going to have to be ready to "win ugly" at the Paris Olympics. What about winning fair and square? What about relying on skills and teamwork? What about setting an example to the world of sportsmanship, dignity and fair play? Do these guys intend to "play ugly" while wearing their religious beliefs in their … [Read more...] about # FIJI TO TURN UGLY AT THE OLYMPICS

# FINALLY, SOMETHING WE CAN ALL AGREE ON

Posted on July 23, 2024 20 Comments

The Joe Biden of Fiji states the bleeding obvious - that the prissy New Zealand Foreign Minister was crazy to side with Sitiveni Rabuka's government in blatantly violating Fijian law in its treatment of a New Zealand citizen. Winston Peters's petulant attack on Christopher Pryde for not complying with the letter-writing etiquette that Miss … [Read more...] about # FINALLY, SOMETHING WE CAN ALL AGREE ON

# THE STATE TOTTERS AS AN OUTLAW TAKES CHARGE

Posted on July 23, 2024 6 Comments

The Acting Chief Justice, Salesi Temo, has been guilty of repeated breaches of the Constitution - the latest when he unlawfully cut off the salary of the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, two weeks ago and left him unable to defend himself. Yet it is a sign of Fiji's steady progress down the Zimbabwe Road to banana republic status that Justice … [Read more...] about # THE STATE TOTTERS AS AN OUTLAW TAKES CHARGE

# CRITICISM OF WINSTON PETERS OVER THE DPP GOES PACIFIC WIDE

Posted on July 22, 2024 11 Comments

Any hope the Fijian government might have had to spare the New Zealand Foreign Minister embarrassment over his inaction in coming to the assistance of the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, has been dashed, with strong criticism of Winston Peters going Pacific-wide on Radio New Zealand. The NZ public broadcaster has picked up Grubsheet's weekend … [Read more...] about # CRITICISM OF WINSTON PETERS OVER THE DPP GOES PACIFIC WIDE

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
