# FOR ALL THE SPIN, THE COALITION IS DECIDEDLY ON THE NOSE

Posted on August 7, 2024 10 Comments

Remember not so long ago when Grubsheet was pretty much the Coalition's sole critic? And the searing vituperation that came my way anytime I said something critical? Like "shut up you white c**t", "You're an irrelevant, sad old man" or "why don't you butt out of Fiji? You might have been born here but you don't belong". Etc. Etc. Very different … [Read more...] about # FOR ALL THE SPIN, THE COALITION IS DECIDEDLY ON THE NOSE

# THE TRAITOR JOINS FORCES WITH THE SNAKE TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION

Posted on August 6, 2024 38 Comments

Viliame Naupoto has twice sworn on oath on the Bible ( "So Help me God") to "obey, observe, uphold and maintain" the Constitution - first when he was appointed RFMF Commander and then when he left the military to enter parliament as a FijiFirst MP. On both occasions, he rode on the coat-tails of Frank Bainimarama, who appointed Naupoto RFMF … [Read more...] about # THE TRAITOR JOINS FORCES WITH THE SNAKE TO CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION

# ANOTHER HYPOCRITE WHO THINKS WE’VE FORGOTTEN

Posted on August 5, 2024 20 Comments

The Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka, sat in the audience for Professor Anthony James Regan's lecture on changing the Constitution at FNU last week taking the occasional note but giving nothing away - his face as inscrutable as a poker player. As speculation rages about what changes the Coalition wants to make to the 2013 Constitution, the Prime … [Read more...] about # ANOTHER HYPOCRITE WHO THINKS WE’VE FORGOTTEN

# SUDDENLY PROFESSOR WHAT’S HIS NAME IS EVERYWHERE

Posted on August 5, 2024 24 Comments

It's always been said in Fiji that the locals will invariably tell you what you want to hear. But the same applies when an outsider tells the locals what they want to hear. So that when an obscure Australian academic constitutional lawyer says the 2013 Constitution must be changed, he is suddenly feted as a national hero by those who want to amend … [Read more...] about # SUDDENLY PROFESSOR WHAT’S HIS NAME IS EVERYWHERE

# FIJI’S MOST DELUDED MAN. AND A PRIZE HYPOCRITE

Posted on August 4, 2024 26 Comments

It was meant to be a celebration of the government’s success – the taxpayer-funded party at the GPH that has again triggered national outrage close on the heels of the public revolt over the massive pay and benefits increases our politicians gave themselves, which had them already branded as greedy pigs. Biman Prasad cuts a forlorn figure in … [Read more...] about # FIJI’S MOST DELUDED MAN. AND A PRIZE HYPOCRITE

# YES, BUT CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION TO WHAT?

Posted on August 3, 2024 39 Comments

You can be sure that the Coalition government is intent on fast- tracking changes to the Constitution when it wheels in a tame academic from Australia to sing from the same song sheet about how the 2013 Constitution was imposed by Frank Bainimarama and Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum and should be changed. Anthony James Regan - who Grubsheet has never … [Read more...] about # YES, BUT CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION TO WHAT?

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
