A rogue Acting Chief Justice and the law of unintended consequences. How the Supreme Court decision to overturn the unlawful appointment of John Rabuku as Acting DPP now calls into question the legality of any case the ODPP prosecuted under his leadership. The dominos are beginning to fall as lawyers around the country consider challenging court … [Read more...] about # COMING SOON…THE LOOMING CHAOS IN THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM

# THE PRIME MINISTER WRITES EXCLUSIVELY FOR GRUBSHEET AS HE BEGINS HIS 10-DAY CHINA ODYSSEY.

Posted on August 12, 2024 31 Comments

Some killjoys have been emailing me asking rudely why I have to spend 10 days in China when most other leaders only spend two or three days at most on official visits to other countries. My answer is: Because I can! Now that there is effectively no opposition in Fiji and I have bought most of them off, I can do what I please when I please. And it … [Read more...] about # THE PRIME MINISTER WRITES EXCLUSIVELY FOR GRUBSHEET AS HE BEGINS HIS 10-DAY CHINA ODYSSEY.

# A SUNDAY PRAYER FOR FIJI

Posted on August 11, 2024 10 Comments

Oh God, we confess to you our failure as a nation to protect our children from the sexual predators and pedophiles among us. We have sinned as a people in the most grievous manner imaginable. And we come to you in the utmost shame asking for your assistance to tackle our national epidemic of child abuse. We humbly request that you use your … [Read more...] about # A SUNDAY PRAYER FOR FIJI

# WELL AT LEAST WE NOW KNOW WHERE THE NFP STANDS

Posted on August 10, 2024 31 Comments

Biman Prasad, the NFP leader, has been very quiet about the party's attitude to the Coalition's current push to fast-track changes to the 2013 Constitution with a wafer-thin electoral mandate of one vote on the floor of the parliament. But we now know a great deal about the NFP's position from reading between the lines of an astonishing article in … [Read more...] about # WELL AT LEAST WE NOW KNOW WHERE THE NFP STANDS

# A PRIME MINISTER BEREFT OF JUDGMENT, HONOUR AND INFLUENCE

Posted on August 8, 2024 13 Comments

It is precisely four weeks today (Friday) since Sitiveni Rabuka told the media that the suspended DPP, Christopher Pryde, was entitled to continue to be paid his salary, as the law prescribes, while he awaits the judicial tribunal hearing into the allegation of misbehaviour against him. In other words, it was wrong for the Judicial Services … [Read more...] about # A PRIME MINISTER BEREFT OF JUDGMENT, HONOUR AND INFLUENCE

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
