# THE PM GETS THE NUMBERS TO JETTISON THE COALITION

Posted on July 8, 2024 40 Comments

Both daily newspapers in Fiji are reporting this morning that nine of the former FijiFirst MPs who are now independents after the party's implosion have decided to back the Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka. They will evidently remain as independents as opposed to joining the People's Alliance but will support the PAP in the parliament. As … [Read more...] about # THE PM GETS THE NUMBERS TO JETTISON THE COALITION

# VALE VIJENDRA KUMAR. SELECTIVELY REMEMBERED

Posted on July 7, 2024 9 Comments

Grubsheet - like many old-timers in the media - has been saddened by the death of arguably Fiji's finest journalist, Vijendra Kumar, who was the first local to edit one of our newspapers and presided over the Fiji Times during some of the nation's most turbulent events. Saturday's edition of the paper rightly published a great deal about … [Read more...] about # VALE VIJENDRA KUMAR. SELECTIVELY REMEMBERED

# PM: “MY NEPHEW IS BRINGING EX-FIJIFIRST MPs TO SEE ME”

Posted on July 6, 2024 34 Comments

The revelation by Sitiveni Rabuka that Mosese Bulitavu is his nephew and they have long been communicating adds a whole new layer of intrigue to this weekend's meeting between the Prime Minister and former FijiFirst MPs who are interested in joining or supporting his government. Has Bulitavu been a rat in the ranks of FijiFirst ever since he was … [Read more...] about # PM: “MY NEPHEW IS BRINGING EX-FIJIFIRST MPs TO SEE ME”

# ONE LAST SWING OF THE HANDBAG. ER, MAN-BAG (UPDATED)

Posted on July 5, 2024 18 Comments

John Rabuku really is a nasty piece of work. We know he is a racist because he told his Assistant DPP, Elizabeth Rice, that he was sacking her because she was "white". We know that he had no compunction about taking up the job of Acting DPP despite the fact that the Constitution specifically prohibits it because he has been found guilty of … [Read more...] about # ONE LAST SWING OF THE HANDBAG. # A DAY IN THE LIFE OF “A DRIVEN OLD MAN”

Posted on July 5, 2024 18 Comments

The government's propaganda people have gone into overdrive trying to enhance the Prime Minister's standing with a special Youtube video entitled "A Day in the Life of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka". We learn, among other things, that he is a "driven old man" who has always set his sights on getting what he wants. But as always with the … [Read more...] about # A DAY IN THE LIFE OF “A DRIVEN OLD MAN”

# HEY JOE, WHAT TO DO WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU ARE GAGA.

Posted on July 4, 2024 8 Comments

Dear Mr President, I am slightly younger than you but still get unkind people saying I am too old to do the job of running Fiji. I am sorry that you are coming under pressure not to stand again in the November election. I saw you debate Donald Trump and I know the Fijian people would prefer a geriatric to a liar any day. Or some days … [Read more...] about # HEY JOE, WHAT TO DO WHEN PEOPLE SAY YOU ARE GAGA.

About Grubsheet

Graham Davis
Grubsheet Feejee is the blogsite of Graham Davis, an award-winning journalist turned communications consultant who was the Fijian Government’s principal communications advisor for six years from 2012 to 2018 and continued to work on Fiji’s global climate and oceans campaign up until the end of the decade.

Fiji-born to missionary parents and a dual Fijian-Australian national, Graham spent four decades in the international media before returning to Fiji to work full time in 2012. He reported from many parts of the world for the BBC, ABC, SBS, the Nine and Seven Networks and Sky News and wrote for a range of newspapers and magazines in Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.

Graham launched Grubsheet Feejee in 2011 and suspended writing for it after the Fijian election of 2014, by which time he was working at the heart of government. But the website continued to attract hits as a background resource on events in Fiji in the transition back to parliamentary democracy.

Grubsheet relaunches in 2020 at one of the most critical times in Fijian history, with the nation reeling from the Covid-19 crisis and Frank Bainimarama’s government shouldering the twin burdens of incumbency and economic disintegration.

Grubsheet’s sole agenda is the national interest; the strengthening of Fiji’s ties with the democracies; upholding equal rights for all citizens; government that is genuinely transparent and free of corruption and nepotism; and upholding Fiji’s service to the world in climate and oceans advocacy and UN Peacekeeping.
